The cozy interior, featuring local artwork, sets the tone for the food and wine. At the centre of this rustic charm is a bountiful oyster bar, Victoria’s only true oyster bar. Nautical Nellies offers a large selection of fresh, local, OceanWise sustainable seafood and well aged, hand cut Certified Angus Beef steaks. The menu is a mix of classic and modern styles with distinct West Coast influences. Start your meal with Jonah Crab Cakes. (Rumoured to be the best in the city!) or the succulent albacore tuna tataki. For lunch choose one of their handcrafted sandwiches featuring Dungeness crab or Atlantic lobster. At dinner, the Hunter Sirloin or a more traditional surf and turf.
The wine list has won several Playhouse International Wine Festival Awards and Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 2008- 2012

Very overrated for the food it delivers, a serious disappointment as far as west coast seafood/fish dishes go!
Horrible service. Also expect your food served cold. Sad, the menu and location looked promising.
Our 34th wedding anniversary. We celebrate our anniversary every year here because of the consistency of good food and service.
The food was just OK, certainly not good value at the prices they charge. We had to send back our salads, the server and manager didn't explain clearlyif the kitchen had made a mistake, but they were ridiculously spicy. We suspected they had spilled cayenne into the dressing.
Also, they really need a new hand soap in the washroom - the one they have smells awful.
The steak was tasty but surprisingly tough, however everything else in the mixed grill was well prepared and delicious. The service was impeccable.
Chose Nautical Nellie’s explicitly for a nice birthday dinner as it is one of few places in Victoria that you can get good sushi (my preference, having travelled from a land locked province for a seafood-fuelled foodie long weekend), and a variety of good cooked seafood dishes (my dining companion’s preference). Very disappointed to learn that they do not have a sushi chef on staff so do not currently serve sushi - perhaps you should remove sushi from your online menu then, so as not to falsely advertise an entire cuisine! Too late to get another reservation somewhere else. To make up for it, they upgraded my consolation order from a small to a large salad - a nice gesture, but they really just gave me a larger portion of something I didn’t want in the first place, and half of it went to waste anyways because it was ginormous.
The server was very good, but it wasn’t enough to save the evening. I won’t be back.
The restaurant was very dark. The service was amazing. The food was good. A little overpriced.
We had a fabulous table on the patio and not only was the food delicious but we had 5 star service the best yet in Victoria. They have the best happy hour menu and a great variety of seafood. Highly recommend!
Make it a point to come by everytime I'm in town. Love the seafood chowder!
Have loved this place for years! Great fish and seafood menu and one of the few restaurants where one can find Poke on the menu. If you've been to Hawaii and fallen in love with this island staple, you'll appreciate finding it here. My partner doesn't eat fish but enjoys the steaks at Nellie's especially as they will make a Hunter sauce that is no longer on their menu. 'No' does not appear to be in their vocabulary as they always try to accommodate reasonable changes to a menu item. One of our Victoria favourites!
A pleasant dining experience on a dismal day in Victoria. When greeted by a pleasant hostess, waited on by a gracious server, and provided a meal, delicious to the palate and eye, it is easy to forget the rain. A pleasant dining experience means attention to detail and Nautical Nellies scores five stars in every category.
Found my ribeye a little pricey (47.00)
but it was worth every penny. Cooked to perfection and even though I asked them to go easy on the salt, the taste was amazing.
Had a lovely night at Nautical Nellies. I had heard rave reviews about the restaurant and the food was lovely but sadly didn't completely blow me away, (the al dente carrots were a tad crunchy).....well apart from the white chocolate Creme Brûlée, that was phenomenal. Our server Barton was brilliant, he was attentive yet not in our faces all the time, he took our drinks order as soon as we were seated and gave some recommendations on the wine list, the bar staff were fast and efficient. The children meals were large portions and being sat next to the fish tank gave them a great distraction from sibling squabbles! I would absolutely return to N.N's and perhaps next time will try for a lunch date. I loved that the plates were hot! It's a thing of mine and I was super happy that my Arctic Char remained hot as I ate. We chose a lovely crisp wine I believe from New Zealand and it went down a treat. As you can see I've scored it well although I feel the price for my main course was a tad overpriced, mainly due to the under cooked veg BUT if that al that I found to critic N.N on, then thats not bad at all! Well worth a visit.
Excelente lugar no dejen de visitarlo si visitan Victoria lo que pidas es delicioso Saludos
My wife and I had been to Nautical Nellies before and had a wonderful time. This time we thought the experience would be just as good. We both ordered the same dish (the stuffed chicken) and it was tasty. However, the following day we were both not feeling so well with my wife having a tougher time. It was terribly disappointing as it was our last night in Victoria. Perhaps in the future we may visit again, but.....
It was our first visit, selected to celebrate our daughter's 32nd birthday. From the moment we were seated near a window looking out toward the harbor, we were prepared for a very special evening. We weren't disappointed! The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The food was scrumptious...my husband's seafood paella...and the various appetizers shared by our daughter and me...the poke tower, the escargot & mushrooms, the lobster tacos, the carpaccio and the hot crab dip. Wow!!! So yummy. To top it off, a large slice of the restaurant's special cheesecake was brought out for our daughter's birthday. We all dug in. When we return to Victoria, Nautical Nellie's will be our first stop for dinner, for sure.
Exceptional service and fabulous wine selection. Highly recommend this Restaurant as the food is absolutely superb!
Overall, I expected better as my last visit was to the old location with a fantastic view. I found the menu more upscale and not as basic as I remember.
The food was really fantastic, service was great, and everyone in my family had a really good time. We got to sit next to the fish tank, and there was a puffer fish!
Do not order the Beef Wellington. The mustard wss the primary flavor and completely ruined the entree. Also, the puff pastry cap was soggy. We regretted ordering it. Without a doubt, the Beef Wellington was the worst thing we’ve ever eaten in Victoria. The Delmonico steak was really good though. Lobster and crab were great. Oysters were not. Drinks were ok.
Nice quiet restaurant with good food. Good service.
The food was lovely although some of the portions were smaller than our friends thought should be. The crab cakes are delicious and you will love the scallops on forks.
Would recommend to anybody wanting a nice meal down the harbour for a special event or just a nice romantic meal.
We had been looking to make our anniversary dinner at Nautical Nellie's a tradition - unfortunately, it didn't seem that our reservation mattered. We had even included a note that this dinner was special and that it was just going to be for two for our anniversary. Despite this, and despite the many open tables, we were put at a large four person table between two other groups - not exactly the setting you want on your anniversary. We had to specifically ask to be placed at a bar booth for a more quiet space. The food was pretty good, but a little underwhelming. We didn't end up ordering as much this time because we simply didn't feel the reservation was taken seriously and wanted to leave. An unfortunate dinner in the end.
Fantastic Service and the food was delicious!
Bad experience. I went to this place with my girlfriend for celebrating her birthday. We ordered mussel steamer pot, stuffed chicken and 1lb king crab legs for dinner. The flavor of the mussel pot was okay, but got 2 stinky stale mussel in it. The crab and shrimp stuffed in the chicken was sour and weird texture, and the chicken was bland. I'll say that's not worthy but acceptable. However, the overpriced 1lb king crab($67) we got only 4 small pieces of half king crab legs which was definitely not enough 1lb. We asked our waiter and he kept telling us that's one pound. We paid 140+ for the dinner and still hungry right after we finished. Could get better dinner at other restaurant. In Blue Crab, for 1lb you can get 5+ full king crab legs for less money($50ish). Such disappointment, won't recommand this restaurant and won't come back again.
My husband and I were more than satisfied with the meal. We definitely want too come back
Good food but the restaurant was freezing.
My husband enjoyed his steak however we had the special and it was a poor value and very unenjoyable. Waitress was not the best and our drinks tasted watered down.
Been there a few times now ..this time I ordered a ceaser salad not happy ..four romaine leafs on the plate with a bit of dressing on top and 4 croutons. .so I had to cut it up it was dry and I have never seen a ceaser salad come like that before
Swift service, average food - no real complaints, but unremarkable. The short rib sandwich was tasty, but small and kind of sad. The bacon Caesar was good; the panna cotte dessert inedible. Thankfully, our server removed it from our bill. In short, with a town full of retaurants, try something else.
Great food and good customer service. Only complaint, which is small and fairly insignificant, is that they don’t give you free bread while you wait for your meal. Saves more room for the delicious steak and seafood they have. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.
The food was good, the wine is ok but pricey, over all everything is ok
Excellent food, had the 28oz ribeye, my wife had king crab, both cooked perfectly, definitely plan on going back!
The Beef Carpachio appy was so good! Great presentation and sauce. Seafood hot pot was delish, as was my husband's seafood platter. Pricey wine list, but great service, not cheap menu but great, fresh food and well worth the visit. We always dine here when over from Vancouver.
Great food and wonderful service! Beautiful views too!
We've been here many times, and never disappointed. Service always excellent, food well prepared and nicely presented. Fab wine list. Having the table set with ice water waiting for us when we were seated is very welcoming.
Surf & Turf for under $60. Need I say more? 👍🏻👍🏻
I spent a week on Vancouver Island, and every day- for every meal, I tried a different restaurant. Nautical Nellies is a locally revered restaurant that I would say specializes in local seafood. As a Canadian, I knew that if I wanted stellar seafood, this was the area to be in. The hostess/waiter was super helpful in assisting me with what was in season and freshly caught. For my appetizer I had Wagyu Carpaccio which was excellent, for my main I was recommended their full dungeness crab. It did not disappoint, and the pricing was pretty good. I also had their arctic char which was fantastic. The wait-staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and I knew they were a great restaurant based on conversations I had with folks working the front desk at my hotel. A must try for anyone in downtown Victoria.
Lovely meal, service and ambiance.
It was a birthday celebration.
They treated us very well and when they made an error with the order - it was immediately corrected and they gave us a bit of a discount.
The birthday girl received a free birthday dessert.
The service was very good I would go back anytime.
It was very good.
