Naupaka Terrace Ratings and Reviews
We went for the king crab and prime rib buffet. The remaining buffet was lacking in food options. Food needed to be replenished and was not. Very disappointed in the dessert. It was an ice cream machine with toppings, hard chocolate chip cookies and some puddings. The prime rib was just ok, nothing to rave about. Not worth the 135 including tip that we paid.
The waiter was pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu, but unfortunately he was completely in the weeds. He did the best he could to keep up, and having been a waiter myself I can applaud his efforts. This is the only positive to the dining experience. The food was very poor. We ordered crap cakes as an appetizer, and to put it nicely they were mushy, cold, and bland. I tried the seafood chowder and it was unremarkable. I ordered a macadamia crusted Ahi and ended up getting mahi mahi instead. It was served with flavorless roasted vegetables, and cold pasty mashed potatoes. The waiter realized the mixup and offered a comped dessert and discounted the meal slightly. My wife ordered a vegetable pasta with chicken. The dish appeared as if it sat under a heat lamp for some time so the noodles were dried crusty and stuck together. The chicken added to the dish had a terrible unappealing flavor. Lastly there were fruit flies that continued to pop up, mostly an annoyance. In the end I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone and wouldn’t return. It was a terrible experience, but you live and you learn. If you are staying at this hotel I would highly recommend that you head off property to dine as the island offers countless options that are unique and delicious.
The reservations was made easy online and once at the restaurant the greeters at the front was very pleasant. The waitress made sure to describe the different fish dishes and the ingredients that went into the dish and I found this very helpful. Overall the staff was attentive to our table which made my guests feel very special.
This was a very disappointing dining experience. There was a buffet offered, but we decided to order off the menu. I had crab bisque,it was very good. But things went downhill from there. I had chicken flatbread that was barely edible. And ambience? How about the pool attendants dragging a bag of dirty towels through the dining room.
Food was alright, tried to get an early reservation but wasn't able to. We went for the buffet dinner and being that our reservation was at 9pm which was the only time frame they had.. and the buffet closes at 9! We were seated at about 8:30pm and only had half hour to eat.. they were already closing up the buffet.. so we had to rush which wasn't fun at all. Food wasn't really worth the $55 per person anyways.
We were celebrating 50 years of marriage and came for the Crab/Prime Rib buffet on a Saturday night. We were warmly greeted by Frances, a hostess who radiated "aloha". My wife prefers a vegetarian diet and our waiter, Everett, showed her a number of options. Everett was very attentive and kept the water glasses full and provided me with ample tools to extract the crab. The prime rib was good and the carver even offered to cook it more in a frying pan if I wanted I more well done. Lots of clams on the buffet and Eddie kept me satisfied with sashimi and sushi nori. The desserts were an upgrade from my last visit and included a number of tasty baked items along with a soft serve ice cream bar. Sous Chef Logan Ripley presided over the feast the night we were there. We'll be back again on our next visit to Kaua'i.
Outstanding Executive Chef Rodman Machado, under your direction our food and service provided was exceptional thank you all. Sax offered us indoor or outdoor dining table both looked grand. Our choice was outdoor dining with breathtaking views of the beautiful Kauai Beach Resort. Janee our informative server's recommendations of Wine, Burrata appetizer and Fresh Catch entree were superb, culinary delight. Lowen followed up with prompt attention to every detail. Michael Keale's authentic Hawaiian tunes and our Lava Cake desert made for a perfect dining experience bravo. We are already booked on Open Table our next Romantic Evening at the fabulous Naupaka Terrace thank you.
We ate at the restaurant for breakfast twice and supper once. There is a child menu which is nice but for the dish we ordered the plain chicken breast was rather dry and not too flavourful. My 6 yr old preferred to eat the YIng and Yang Kalua duck that I ordered although she did like the french fries that came with her meal. I ordered organic baby romaine salad which was very large. They accommodated the fact that I am a celiac and cannot have gluten so the croutons were not added to the salad. I enjoyed it except for the marinated cherry tomatoes. The Ying and Yang Kalua duck was nice. There was live Hawaiian music in the background which I really enjoyed.
We ate at the breakfast buffet where strangely the first time they charged us for two adults although my 6 yr old had a pretty bird-like appetite. I realized that if you want to eat a gluten-free paleo friendly breakfast you are much better off just ordering off the menu rather than the buffet. The second time I had two eggs with hash browns and pork links which was much more reasonably priced that eating the same thing from the buffet. The second time my daughter ate one waffle with whipped cream and nutella along with some bacon and they didn't charge her at all. So it all evens out. There are little birds that try and steal off your plate at breakfast so you have to be vigilant. The restaurant setting is very beautiful. The wait staff are very good and I appreciated that they made a big effort to return the tea ball to me that I had left behind one morning.
Was really looking forward to the Seafood and prime rib buffet on Saturday night. At $54 a head I was expecting hot delicious good quality choices.
Disappointed does not even begin to describe it. Buffet food that should have been hot was barely warm. Mashed potatoes were actually cold.
Selection of dishes was less than I had expected. Asked about a couple of the dishes and sauces and staff at the buffet could not answer what things were.
Service was slow and our server was overwhelmed and constantly appeared as rushed.
I was honestly embarrassed to have brought friends with us.
Manager could not have cared as he never made it to our table after requesting to speak with.
The ambiance sitting outside was wonderful. Very romantic. Our server was very friendly and informative, BUT our food took an EXTREMELY long time to come and since we were sharing everything, to receive extra plates to split the portions took even a longer wait...but the food was better than good!!!
We stayed at the hotel, for our vacation, it was a great experience for sure, staying at the hotel! We also ate here every am for the breakfast buffet, which was good. The one time we ate diner here, the service was slow, (under staffed maybe), food was good (not great). But I would still recommend dining here for diner also, maybe one time, if you are staying at the hotel. Aloha!
This time the the crab was yucky, the sushi rice was too sticky and vinegary the primerib and dessert were the only things we liked. This was my families 4th time to the seafood and primerib buffet. During Christmas was the last time we came and the food was excellent and worth every penny. This time the food was was ok the crab was terrible it tasted old and left a funny taste in my mouth and the meat of the crab was small and mushy. The primerib, chicken and deserts were the only things we liked. The service was ok. No one came to refill our drinks and we waited a long time to get Our water refilled. Im not sure if we will be back soon to the buffet. Right now i wouldnt reccomend to a friend maybe during the holiday i would.
This was the worst dinning experience In Kauai in 10 days. We made a reservation and expected to sit on the Patio outdoors. We were told there was no room. The restaurant looked like a dressed up cafeteria inside. Not what we expected for this restaurant. The service was HORRENDOUS! I get if a restaurant is busy, a staff member can just pop by for 10 seconds and say, "I am sorry it is busy I will be with you shortly". Something to make a guest feel welcome. (note...there were less than 10 tables in the entire restaurant being used. About 20% full...now I know why) After 15 minutes of not even being acknowledged by a server I asked the hostess if she could please send a waiter/waitress over so we could maybe order a beverage. She said "no problem". I watched her go back to the front and not talk to any wait staff. When the female server finally came over she could not have seemed to enjoy her job less. When she brought the bread I said "Thank you" and received no response from her. I sarcastically said "you are welcome". Zero acknowledgement I even spoke. I will never go back and NEVER recommend it to anyone, other then to recommend to NOT go there. The terrible customer service ruined the experience. We could not leave fast enough.
