About Natsumi Restaurant

Natsumi Breaks New Ground with Innovative Modern Japanese Cuisine. Barbara Matsumura founder of Haru Restaurants, has teamed up again with Chef Haru Konagaya to create this strikingly original destination. Two separate experiences in two adjacent sites, an elegant restaurant and a trendy Tokyo-chic bar/lounge. Natsumi specializes in modern Japanese cuisine with a touch of Italian ingredients; offering an array of creative dishes such as, sashimi arugula salad, new style yellowtail carpaccio, and lobster green tea ravioli. The innovative menu relies on unique preparations with dynamic flavors. The wine list is international, with white, red, sparkling wines, and champagne by the glass and bottle. The restaurant is divided into distinct dining areas, a cozy space with intimate booths, a sushi bar where diners can watch the chefs compose, and in the front, the windows open to the street. The whole room is infused with a warm golden glow and earth tones.

Convenient location in middle of theater district. Seated immediately with reservation. Traditional sushi and Japanese dishes nicely presented and well prepared. Good service. Good house sake. Highly recommend.

A very nice modern interior that is in the heart of the Theater District. The service is good and the food is fair but not exceptional. The sushi was very fresh.

The prices were fair and it was within walking distance of all the theaters.

Had an amazing time at Natsumi restaurant. Such a a great spot to have dinner at. Ordered Chef's creation matsu and was so satished. Fresh sushi and sashimi. Good drinks. Will definitely come back. They also have special offers if you have a ticket to the show. For free desert because were going to the Wicked that night. Definitely recommend.

We ate here before seeing Wicked. It took quite a while to get any service for our drinks though the waiter conintially walked by or stood bear our table. This was the same for the food. For such a small place I was shocked at the poor wait service. The food was good, the yellowtail jalapeno roll had pickled jalapeno, everywhere else I've had this roll it is fresh. This was a little odd to me. My other rolls were great, miss cod and aps we're great. They have real Japanese green tea which was wonderful!

I made reservation for a friend's birthday based on the good reviews but was immediately regretted when we walked in: it's nothing Japanese: the server, environment, even the way the sushi chefs stand. The fish was actually not bad and quite large pieces, but the rice was terribly made - too hard, wrong vinegar mix/flavor - they don't know how to make the sushi rice, which is the most basic and most important part of sushi. I also requested a candle of some kind for the b-day friend but nothing came. I didn't even bother to ask at that point. Did I mention the poor condition of the bathroom?

This was probably the worst 4+ star rated restaurant on Open table I have ever gone. Very disappointed.

I was unimpressed for Super Bowl night dinner there was only 1 staff/bar/server, place was almost empty and they did not even mark me as being present on my reservation. Manager was nonexistent. Server had to do everything. At Least they turned off the music so we could watch the Halftime show.

If you like Japanese fusion food this place is for you. There are some traditional options which are really good but there are fewer of those. We had great deserts there - fried banana and friend cheesecake.

Franky, pleasant, energetic and intelligent ran circles around the other servers, including Tony who stuck his fingers in our glasses to fill water. Not the cleanest or nicest - tony needs retraining and an attitude adjustment.

We loved our dinner at Natsumi. We went for Restaurant Week, but ended up getting a giant sushi platter to share instead of the prix fixe options. The fish was delicious, and the presentation wowed us. The restaurant itself is polished and fun. We were seated near the street window; it was chilly, but not too noisy. I had a sweet rum cocktail, and my partner had sake, which he thoroughly enjoyed. We decided to get the saucy chocolate cake for dessert, and we were really impressed. We'll definitely be back!

We came here for early dinner before seeing the rockettes show. The food didn’t take too long and everything was so delicious! Highly recommend the spicy tempura shrimp and the tempura cheesecake dessert. It’s not cheap but not ridiculously expensive either. Great for us as tourists!

Due to traffic, we were late for a pre-theater dinner and harried. The warm and gracious host assured us that we would have a good dinner and should relax. He and the staff made sure that was true. We left well-fed, relaxed and grateful. Even without sake!
