Nathalie's at Overlook Farms is a farm-to-table restaurant that specializes in healthy American cuisine. It sources its meat and produce from its own farm and from local farmers. The restaurant's dining area is casual and elegant. Nathalie's also hosts live entertainment every night and boasts an extensive selection of cocktails, wines and absinthe for guests to enjoy.
Begin the meal with a hot bowl of French onion soup or an appetizer like duck wontons, smoked chicken confit, lamb meatballs or seared diver scallops. Main course options at Nathalie's include dishes like lamb hash, cottage pie, shrimp and grits and the restaurant's signature grass-fed burger. The restaurant also offers a variety of vegetarian and vegan options. End the meal with a sweet dessert like panna cotta, green tea ice cream or blueberry galette.
Enjoyed a wonderful meal and fantastic service. It is sad Nathalie's is closing do we wanted to be there on the last day to show our appreciation. We plan to visit Overlok in Clarksville.
I so wanted this visit to be special but now I understand why the restaurant closed. The bones were there for a great dining experience, the building is interesting ; the first floor is tastefully decorated; staff were very welcoming and friendly; and, the band was good. As for the food, when you're party has six dishes and water makes the top three, there's a problem.
Loved Nathalie's so much the first time for a Valentine dinner, that I planned my future wedding reception upstairs, when the time would come. And then 1 1/2 years later, Nathalie's catered an over the top exquisite reception for us. Best find ever!
The service was average and the atmosphere was interesting. My lamb entrée lacked flavor, was on the rubbery side and wasn't lean. I didn't complain about it but was disappointed. My wife ordered the house merlot and we later found out while reading the bill that it was $16. The waiter should have told us the price was that high before accepting her order. That is higher than most of the mixed drinks on the menu. When my wife told him that he should have told us the price, his response was, "I apologize."
The experience (food + service + atmosphere) was nice. I'm glad we went, it's not at the top of my list to run back. Do not read that as negative, there are just a lot of places on my list to go to next.
Ambience is great. Was very quiet where we were seated and we appreciated that as we had two hard of hearing guests. The menu has changed and it did not have as many good looking choices as on previous visits. The service was excellent and the food was nicely prepared and presented with the exception of the french fries with the lamb. They were a bit much to look at even across the table.
Nathalie's was truly exceptional. Every dish was well presented and well timed. Our server was professional. A nice mix of Jazz played until the band began. We were offered a complimentary salmon ceviche amuse-bouche. My companion stated the French Onion Soup rivaled those in Paris. I shared my first course of Pork Belly with Pickled Vegetables because it was too abundant and too delicious to keep to myself. We shared a Green Salad to offset the decadence of the previous course. My companion enjoyed the Braised Beef with Mashed Potatoes and I, the Trout in a Bourbon Pecan Sauce with Salad. The bourbon was noticeable but not overwhelming and the pecans a lovely and tasty addition to the generous sized trout. My compliments to the chef and to Nathalie's...we shall return.
The wait staff are enthusiastic but poorly trained. This makes it difficult to enjoy the meal.
Beautiful setting but inconsistent portion sizes, poor service--friendly but had to be asked for daily offerings...failed to take one order from group/removed dishes as diners finished rather than waiting for entire table to finish. An informed server could have warned us that some plates were filled with food and other main courses featured a few lonely items on a plate. We also waited over 20 minutes for dessert. Disappointing.
Now that we are empty nesters, we are exploring the restaurants in St. Louis, starting with Farm to Table. This meal was excellent and worth our drive downtown in a downpour. Highly recommend the Brussel sprout appetizer. The mushroom salad was our favorite (I had the bib salad) and the chicken Nathalie was wonderful. Liked it better than the Cottage Pie. Wonderful band played too.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the world.
Beautiful place but I can make better eggs at home. Ordered nats scramble and I think the cheese was omitted and toast was hard. Ordered sausage and biscuit and menu said it came with potatoes and toast but waiter said no. Ordered tea and never received and had to ask for it to be taken off the bill. The poor couple beside us begged for coffee multiple times and asked multiple staff before getting it.
We went for a special occasion on a Sunday evening. We loved the dining experience! The food is outstanding; the service prompt; the ambiance within an old house was intimate. We are so happy to have discovered Nathalies and look forward to our next visit.

Wonderful food in a great atmosphere. The old restored house is beautiful. I loved the red roses on all the tables with the red napkins folded to look like red roses. And, great music. Great atmosphere. Farm to table. Delicious food. Excellent service.
I would not advise against trying Nathalie's, however, the night we went I was wondering if ingredients had been forgotten-almost like the kitchen didn't have complete grasp of the menu description. My dishes were fine, but other members at my table ordered two items, that appeared and tasted as something was missing per the menu description. The diners that ordered the dishes did not want to talk to the waiter about discrepancy, so I did not feel it would be right for me to do so. We did all try each other's dishes, though, so I did expereince the concern. I am believing this was probably a fluke and not common occurrence.
Patio is delightful! Fried Green Tomatos and Peach salad magical.
Beautiful setting and dining room, with a New Orleans or Charleston ambiance. Service was very good and prompt, food was excellent (I had shepherd's pie and my date had shrimp and grits, but the real stars were the salads. The farmer's green salad was the best I've had anywhere except the on the west coast.) Wine list was good but not exceptional and prices were decent. The outdoor dining area looked very charming but it was hot out so we ate inside.
We will definitely be returning!
I took my girlfriend here while she was visiting from Kansas City. She is highly critical of StL coming from a city that is basically just more pleasant, nicer, has more modern architecture and is ultimately ten times more progressive than Stl. I wanted to show her the nicer side of STL and Nathalie's seemed to really fit the bill. The dining room and whole place really did the trick, dinner was excellent and the Executive Chef even brought out our dessert on him, after checking with us while we ate our main courses which was a very nice touch. Thank you to our servers and the bartender and Chef for making it a great experience to treat her to and for being a beacon of light amidst a morbidly behind the times and notoriously violent city. I will certainly return
We had one dish that was not as expected...the chef and manager both came to the table to ask about it and they did remove it from our check.

Went here because they are farm to table. Grass fed beef etc. I ordered chicken. They were out of chicken. (Just opened 2 hours before we got there) Asked server what type of oil was used. Hoped to hear olive oil at least. Corn oil. Very disappointing.
Served a Moscow Mule in a glass. FAIL.
Waitress Bree was amazing, really enjoyed the chef coming out to talk. Atmosphere wonderful.
Nice atmosphere. Farm raised food. Unfortunately they were out of sausage. (last time they were out of pork - maybe understandable since they raise their own - but maybe they should increase their breeding stock). Also long wait for initial coffee. We thought they were waiting to bring it with part of our order. And the beignets - pretty good, not oily, but not as light as mine at home. We'll still go back.
Scallops were a little over cooked and the bacon smoke and pine nuts were too powerful for the soft flavor of the scallops. Iwas lovely and the restaurant is gorgeous. Outdoor dining space is magical. we sat in the front room, the moldings and fireplace were superb. There was live music, it was a little loud in the bar area but loved the energy. As we dined we could still hear the music and it made the experience that much better.
A wonderful hidden gem, right in the middle of St. Louis. From the moment we walked in, through dessert and beyond, fantastic dining experience. It's a beautiful place, drinks were very impressive, as was the entire meal and dessert. Farm to table at its finest. Do yourself a favor, take your favorite person out for a terrific night at Nathalie's!

This is our third time dining at Nathalie's. Their food is beyond delicious and the service is phenomenal. I also love the ambience. It is a wonderful place all the way around.
We had dinner at Nathalie's just before a concert at the Sheldon. Our server tried to accommodate us, however, he had too many tables . It seemed as if the restaurant was short on staff. The person who seated us and the person who served us water made every effort to help the server assigned to our table to serve us and make certain that we were able to leave timely for our concert.
The noise level was high through no fault of the restaurant. There was a large party near us which was very energetic.
The food was delicious. We would return on an evening when we do not need to be finished by a specific time.
We went to Nathalie's for Father's Day brunch. Our party of five ordered the shrimp & grits (3 orders), chicken & waffles, and the stuffed french toast, and each person loved his or her meal, with much sharing going across the table. We were seated upstairs, which is much heavier in atmosphere than the downstairs, with lots of reds vs. the lighter, airier first floor. When going for brunch next time, I will request the first floor dining.
Family get together with a table for 5 - all adults 30 and up. Band was playing jazz in the bar and sounded great! Dinner and service was perfect as usual. Lot's of wine to choose from. After dinner port was a pleasure. We split a few desserts. Not as good as everything else. Missed the coconut cake this time. The shrimp & grits were excellent, as was the trout. Didn't try the others that were ordered.

Our server was great. (I think his name was Steven. Some times known as Sven)We enjoyed the surroundings but wish we had been a little further from the door. My mistake. Will do better next time if available tables allow.
The service was wonderful and the place is perfect for ambiance for a nice night out. It is well lit, so if you're looking for very romantic, this might not be the place, but we had a date night here and loved it. The food was great and farm to table is our preferred choice when eating out and at home. You can't beat it!!

Our food was delicious! We had the pork tenderloin special, salmon and cauliflower gratine. All were delicious. They had live music in the bar which was delightful. All in all it was a really great evening. But, we were the only people there. Why?
We decided to come here for the first time. The menu looked like it had a good variety and we enjoy the farm to table experience. The place was beautiful! The amuse bouche was duck pate, which we could not appreciate. My husband had the pork chop special and he thought it was very good. My scallops were fishy tasting, but I think the presentation and preparation was good. I just could not eat them as they did not taste fresh. While every other table was brought bread, we had to ask for ours. We also had to ask twice for sweetener and twice for a steak knife which we never received. The iced tea was cloudy and very strong.
Food was just fair. Duck breast was overcooked and dry. Service was mediocre, wait staff seemed to want to be involved in the table conversation a little too much. Very disappointed in the overall meal and evening
The waitress wasn't too informative about the menu. The trout was excellent but everyone else's meals were mediocre at best. The carrot soup was served lukewarm and way too thick and tasteless. The cheesecake which sounded good was horrible. Drinks were very pricey. We had 3 different servers who were always trying to take our dishes. Very annoying. Would not go back or recommend!
