Online reservations at Nasher Cafe can only be made directly on their website.
I was disappointed in the crab cakes. I get better cakes at Harris-Teeter and cook them at home. You can do better
Good food, nice choice of beers, but just way too noisy ----the space itself, having high ceilings, lots of glass windows and hard surfaces makes it extremely noisy. The wait staff contribute to the noise level by actions such as loudly pouring buckets of ice. We were hoping for a calm lunch to visit out of town siblings. The food was good, but don't go for the ambiance, and especially avoid if your group enjoys quiet conversation.
Came here with some friends for an end of the year meal. Very pleasant meal and experience as always, 3rd time going to the Nasher this semester.
Wonderful lunch at the Nasher during visit with daughter at Duke! Highly recommend the red white and green panini
I have had many wonderful meals at Nasher Cafe. It's too bad the acoustics of the indoor space are so bad - on a busy day it's almost impossible to carry on a conversation in a normal tone of voice.
Love eating at the Nasher with friends. Always a young lively student crowd.
1, The music was too loud. I asked if they could have her turn it down and was told nothing could be done. She was a beautiful singer but it was distracting, like at a bar at night. Frankly, there's no need for music at a gathering like this because it was loud from conversations!
2. We asked for bread and got nothing for 30 minutes. They brought it promptly when reminded.
3. It took at least 45 minutes for our meal. Our Easter reservation was at 2:30. It was full when we got there but was emptying out, so not sure why it took so long.
4. The wait staff was clearly working very hard, so perhaps there weren't enough of them or enough chefs.
Overall, we enjoyed it. Food was very good and it was a lovely day. But it was frustrating to have to get up and ask three separate times for the above. Thanks, Marianne
Easter Brunch was wonderful, really enjoyed the patio seating with live music!
Amazing!! Food was great as always. The nasher is a wonderful place for a meal especially on beautiful spring days!
A great spot for lunch or brunch even if you do not have time to visit the museum!
Food is fresh. Services is fast and wait staff are always very pleasant. I have been coming
here for years for quick lunches. Do make reservations when possible as lunch and weekend
brunch are busy. Across the street from Sarah Duke Gardens is a plus.
Was seriously impressed with our visit. The staff and manager were all incredible. We actually arrived quite early for our reservation, and while we couldn't sit down right away because I specifically requested to be by a window, the host was extremely kind and accommodating. Our server was so much fun and engaging. I got the mushroom and goat cheese omelet which was OUT of this world. They had run out of the wine that my mom wanted but the manager brought over a few options and talked with us a while. We love making the trip out here from Raleigh.
Handicapped parking spaces extremely limited. Noise level is terrible
The vegetarian pasta was amazing!
Just wish it wasn’t so expensive.
It was great! I used to love going here with my team after practice, now I enjoy going with my business team after a meeting.
Decent food terrible service.
1) the waiters here have terrible patience and pay no detail to the diners. You will never find out about daily specials because no server will bother to let you know. Everything is minimally polite. You pay for table service without the service.
2) Hours. Their opening hours are different depending on where you look, and even if you call to ask about it, I guarantee you no one will bother to pick up. At least this happened to me the several previous reservations I was trying to confirm. Though they do call you back later with the bad news that while they didn’t pick up the phone, everything else is full and because “a large party is coming in” they won’t be able to seat you regardless. How accommodating. This is just the thing you need when you are the one in charge of brunch planning.
Unless you have money to waste, I would not come here.
Was completely underwhelmed with the quality of food. Great ambiance given that it's in the atriumof the Nasher but it's overpriced and underwhelming!
I am a Nasher Member and I enjoy lunch there from time to time. Mostly I enjoy the ambiance and the food (taste)The service, however, has always been slow and inattentive. Also the portions are small, especially for the price. The food is very tasty but I am gernwrally still hungry after an entree w a side.
Amazing, fresh food. Salads and sandwiches are amazing, and you HAVE to get the molten lava cake. One of the best I've ever had.
Makes going to the Nasher to see an exhibition even more of an event.
It was my first time visiting the Nasher Cafe and it was a great experience! The only thing that I think the restaurant should improve on is checking up on tables more frequently. We had to call on the waiter to order desserts and get our checks.
Fresh and delicious soups, salads and sandwiches in a sunlit corner of the museum.
Loved the feel and the lunch menu of this cafe. The server was helpful and attentive without being on top of us. I thought my lunch was delicious, but I couldn’t eat it all. The portions are large. It was very noisy at lunchtime, but the crowd seemed to be enjoying themselves. I would certainly go back and will tell my friends about it.
Salads plus all dishes are outstanding!! Wines by the glass are interesting and tasteful. The service is always friendly and helpful. The ambience of the museum design and architecture adds tons to an overall great experience!!!
It was great to share a delicious lunch with friends after seeing the Carlo Dolci exhibit at the Nasher. The service was friendly and very attentive and the atmosphere was quiet enough to have an enjoyable conversation with friends.
We love going to the Nasher Café. The food, drinks and staff are always excellent ... and then seeing the art is a definite bonus.
Did’t realize it was a Halloween costume and pumpkin decorating day when we made brunch reservations!
Love the Cafe, love the food. My only complaint is that it is a very noisy environment. I would opt for an outside table, but the weather doesn't always permit...
Visited Nasher Cafe for the first time for lunch with a friend. Service was prompt and the food was delicious. I have already recommended the Cafe to other friends and look forward to lunch again next time I am in Durham!
Meal was very good. Service on the slower side...long wait between water and order service. Lots of coffee and water provided, order came about average wait time. Friendly staff.
Lot of students have found this place - it has great food, inspired by what exhibits the museum has at the time - great entrees and wonderful desserts. Fabulous wines and according to some in our party fantastic cream soda. Very fast and friendly service. Definitely a restaurant to visit again!
We went for a special dinner offered in conjunction with a show of Italian art. The menus were supposed to be from 18th-c. Italy - they were simply spectacular! I had swordfish, which is much too easy to overcook; instead, this was absolutely delicious. We were very pleased indeed. We had dessert even though we were full, and the cheese cake was light and wonderful, too.
Very poor service considering an automatic gratuity of 20%
Great place to have a business lunch.
Excellent setting within the Nasher Art Museum and there is a large glass wall looking out to Duke University heavily wooded area with art within the landscape. Patrons can opt for seating outside which is lovely. For lunch I selected the Eggplant sandwich on artisan bread with the red potato salad--tasty and lovely presentation. My friend had the salmon and green salad--also beautifully presented. Ingredients are quality and fresh, and breads as good as in France.
Poir service the day of my visit by server including wrong drink refill and no silverware
We had a great experience at the Nasher Cafe for Sunday Brunch. It was for a Bday treat. The weather was beautiful, so the outdoor seating was fantastic. Our drinks were specials of the day and BOTH were great. The brunch/breakfast entrees were very good and proportioned and priced reasonably.
We love dining at the Nasher Café. The food is great and the staff is wonderful. Can dine either before or after looking at the fantastic art and special exhibits like Dolci are very interesting.
Consistently delicious food. Very friendly wait staff.
What a great dining option in an unexpected place! Lovely museum happens to have amazing food! The outdoor seating is perfect if the weather is nice too, making for an even better experience. Have been here multiple times when visiting my family in Durham.
I loved the idea of a dinner linked to the exhibition of the Italian painter Dolci. Therefore we ordered the Italian dishes. The quality of the food was pretty good and with a creative combination of the ingredients .
