Napkins Bar and Grill
We had a very enjoyable meal at Napkins and will definitely be going back. It is a casual bar/grill with well above average food.
Outdoor dining on Mother's Day with a view of the river. Great food and great service! Nice and casual and took our time eating. Never felt rushed which was really nice and relaxing.
We went for Mother’s Day dinner. The food and our server were very good. But the kitchen messed up our order and one of our meals didn’t come out until everyone else was close to done.
tl;dr Decent food, disorganized front of house. Would not return.
We came here for Mother’s day brunch. Although we had reservations and arrived 10 minutes early, we were informed that we’d have to either sit outside or wait an hour to be seated inside. I wish this had been handled differently - maybe tell us that a table was staying long, it should only be a few more minutes, have a drink on the house. Or something where we at least felt like our reservation was worth something.
We chose to sit outside as we had wine reservations later in the day. To be fair, we were offered indoor seating after about 20 min of sitting outside, but we were already settled and expecting our food shortly. However, we did not receive our food for over 45 minutes. We watched as tables who were sat before and after us got their food, ate, paid, and left. We were told there was a back up in the kitchen. Chips and guac were given to us complimentary. While we appreciated this gesture, the entire lunch ended up taking a little under 2 hours, effectively killing any time we had to walk around and explore the area prior to our wine reservation.
What really annoyed me, however, was that we were marked by the restaurant as a “no show” for our reservation. This not only would ding my OpenTable account, but prevent me from leaving a review. Fortunately, OpenTable intervened and corrected the situation.
The food itself was good. Typical brunch, but well cooked. Our main complaint is entirely on the poor seating/attitude around it, time to receive the food, and being marked as a “no show” on OpenTable.
Great food, great drinks, excellent service. We will definitely be back.
Our waiter Ricardo was very knowledgeable about the menu from food to wines. The food was delicious and the price was very affordable for the area. I would recommend napkins to anyone visiting the area who wants a great meal with and great wines without breaking the bank.
Everything was great except for the type of music. Not sure what it was but wasn’t good. Not bad enough to mention to anyone and not bad enough to keep me from returning.
We absolutely love this restaurant. We go there every Sunday for brunch. Sometimes we bring our two dogs and sit outside and when we don’t bring them, we sit inside and enjoy the atmosphere. Most of the time on Sundays they have a musician that plays great nostalgic music.
I like everything about this restaurant. Their food is consistently excellent. The atmosphere is delightful and the decor is interestingly yummy. They treat us like family and go the extra length to make sure everything is perfect and to your liking.
We have a lot of amazing restaurants in Napa Valley, but Napkins is my favorite go-to restaurant!
The food was superb. Everyone enjoyed their meals.
The food was great. I just had to order more because my portion was small
First impression didn't last, second one didn't either. When first greeted, the hostess was unable to figure out what to do when we said we had a reservation. The hostess ran away and then returned to seat us (with no further mention of our reservation -- not even our name). Then we asked a server to provide us coffee. Three round trips of apologies later per not knowing how to serve coffee and suddenly the manager showed up with cups and a coffee pot.
But the food was very much worth the annoying lack of training . . .
Reasonable size portions, excellent seasonings that were not overpowering, pleasant presentation, food overall was exceptional. However, it would ne nice if they would be a little bit more generous with the heat since everybody in the restaurant was at a table bundled in coats (it was too cold in the restaurant).
Now if only they would train their staff before letting them loose on the floor . . .
Server was a character and seemed overwhelmed. He made a show of taking the appetizer off of the check because he was late bringing it to the table - we didn't ask for it to be taken off. I should have checked the bill closely because he added a wine that we didn't order and wasn't brought to the table. So no loss for the restaurant. Fool me once ……...
This was really just a bar with food. It didn't have much of an atmosphere - just some really loud drinkers hanging out at the bar. And, the restaurant smelled like a dirty dish rag. Something that is totally not their fault is the construction surrounding the building. I wish we'd skipped this restaurant.
Very fresh and delicious food. Delightful and attentive service.
Great food. Pasta with prawns was excellent.
Our waiter was great! He was friendly and accommodating with food alternatives and splitting the checks. The food was delicious, wine was good. My salmon was a bit underdone, but he jumped right in to get it back on the grill. He checked back to tell me it was almost done. The large table for our group was perfect. Thank you.
My husband and I stopped here for lunch this past week. We had heard about this cute restaurant from friends, but had never visited. We were pleasantly surprised. Our service was fabulous, and our food was delicious. We ordered a Caesar salad, an order of fries and a delicious char-broiled burger on a fresh brioche bun - with all the fixings. We split everything which was perfect for us. The restaurant, although not fancy, was comfortable, cozy, clean, and full of energy. It was a great place to have lunch, and I would dine there again in a heartbeat.
Service at our table was less than stellar, and multiple tables around ours also experiencing the same service issues. Missing appetizers before main meal was brought out, missing ordered items that had to be remade. Check was incorrect at our table and the table next to ours that had to be corrected.
It was a casual, almost sports bar-like restaurant. The burger I had was good, and my dining partner had the salmon and said it was okay.
Food was different and really good. Most def will try again!
Everything was good, just nothing in particular stood out as exceptional. Our waiter was great though
What was lacking from our experience is a service staff capable of walking past a table only once and either making eye contact as we had a need or later passing the table and noticing that cups and glasses were empty.
Core to the basic capabilities of any server is that innate ability to see the needs of any table and I don't know if that's something that is covered in training or just the individual, but it was lacking here.
Napkins lived up to its unpretentious vibe which is hard to come by in the Napa Valley. The diversity of patrons was the nicest treat and food was familiar yet had a twist of unique flair. The wings were a delight and the hint of smokiness in the calamari was appreciated.
Worst service ever
Napkins, located on a corner space in the heart of downtown Napa (just across from the river) is an outstanding restaurant. Great wine list. Great food (have had the fried chicken sandwich twice now....does not disappoint). A go-to!
Loved the endless mimosa flavors and the catch of the Day Tostada!!
Went to celebrate a family birthday. Food was good and service was excellent. Being that it was a Friday evening it was pretty loud. Management seemed really on their game and made our celebration special.
Our Waiter was wonderful !
I had a pork chop and it was good.
Food was great and staff was very nice.
Napkins is always worth it. The food is terrific and the staff attentive. Prices are reasonable for Napa!! I had the cabernet braised short ribs and they were great. We also had the vegetarian dish the vegetable wellington. This was great a great dish too.
Very good bar food with some interesting variations
Great food. The salmon tostada was AMAZING!
I’d wipe my butt with these napkins lol! We waited an hour to get seated even with our open table reservations. The owner was nice and comped our entire meal. Their wait staff just needs to be way more timely! Also they got one of our orders wrong on top of all that
Fun, great service and nice ambiance
Great service and food.
Service & ambience was good but just OK food for the price.
It was a Very nice dining experience for me and my goddaughter, and we loved the fact that we didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg for food and parking!! The parking garage was close by and free!!
Great food timely service! We will be back
Husband and i decided to come here for restaurant week. Food is delicious (guacamole, chickenwing, cornbread, pork etc) and the service is even better. Erica was our waitress and she was awesome!
