Service was unapologetically bad. It’s usually great. It essentially ruined our meal.
Sexiversary. It was pleasant but too much sauce on the special. Too creamy and overwhelmed the dish.
cheerful staff, good food, street parking fairly easy (Tuesday evening in April). Some of the tabes are quite close together, but they will try to accommodate if that's not your style. Everything we ordered was very good, the sea bass cakes were especially good. Not very loud, so easy to hear dinner conversation. This restaurant if on the short list for our next visit, usually every 12-18 months.
Bistro is my go-to when I want fabulous food and excellent service.
Great waitress. Don't drink the "gin". Food okay. Very loud. Go there on a weeknight.
Always a great meal ~. We tell everyone!
This restaurant has the potential to be great but the staff was overwhelmed with a full restaurant and comes up short. It felt understaffed and clumsy. The menu has some interesting options as well as standard favorites. We ordered the shrimp appetizer which was spicy and flavorful but the shrimp was over cooked. I opted for the special, a short rib which was very tender but also under seasoned, and could have used more au jus, my dating companion ordered the fried chicken which he described as under seasoned and overly breaded. Overall the restaurant left us underwhelmed.
Easter brunch with the family!
We love visiting Napa Valley Bistro when we are in Napa - it has been our favorite place. However, this time, the experience was not up to their usual standards.
The waitress must have been new, and was not as attentive as normal. In fact, one of the waitresses who has served us in the past, seemed to recognize this and checked on us twice. In fact, she's the one who took my credit card for me.
I understand turnover in the restaurant business, and you'd think on a Saturday night, they'd want to move people "out" quickly. We had been waiting around 10 minutes to pay and leave.
The food was very delicious, as usual, except for two things: 1) The bread before dinner was not fresh, like it normally is. 2) My meal, the Flat Iron steak, was very small.
However, we love the place, so we'll be back again next time, and hopefully have a better experience.
In the middle of the town of Napa but just off the beaten path. Amazing food, varied local and regional wine list, friendly service, and a go-back kind of place.
Great food! Loved the veggie spring rolls, and the orchiette pasta was bursting with flavor.
Overall really good experience. Everyone's food was great, service was great, ambiance was great. I was complimented by my co workers for the choice of restaurant.
The staff here were amazing. We had a genuinely nice server, and bartender/hostess. The meal was pretty good, though my filet had too much sauce with it. Good asparagus. Had an excellent glass of cabernet franc.
We had a delicious dinner at the Napa Valley Bistro. The vegetable beef soup was excellent as well as the fish and chips and mac and cheese. They have a nice selection of comfort food for a rainy evening.
Service was ok. Didn't get any bread with our meal, missed that. Two or the gals ordered breakfast entrees and no toast or English muffins were included. The service was brisk and very impersonal. Got a dessert but no plate under the ice cream dish to rest a spoon.
Had dinner for 4 planned. Overall food was good. One beef dish was overdone. Service was a bit spotty but I think they may have been understaffed that eve. Would return.
Excellent food and service. I will be back.
This is one of those restaurants that is always good and always reliable. The menu is interesting, and has something for everyone. There are some relatively simple items on the menu, and also some that are more "interesting". Over the years I have eaten here on numerous occasions, and have never had a bad meal. Quite the contrary, everything that I have eaten here, and people at my table have eaten, has been good. Service is attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The restaurant is especially good for conversation or, in my case, a senior relative who doesn't hear well in noisy locales. Very good, reliable food in a pleasant setting.
One of our regular go tos... Good food, great staff, no corkage for locals. Sunday brunch is fabulous
Great value. No corkage fee on first bottle of wine!
We loved the staff here! They were all so helpful and accommodating. The spring rolls were delicious, as was the reuben sandwich and the fish cake. We will definitely return.
The food selections were very good, as was the quality of the dishes we ordered. They only have a beer and wine license, but do make cocktails with a Japanese liquor and they were pretty good! The service was a bit slow, but possibly a second time might find the service to be better.
The menu is very creative, and the wine list is nice. But my airline chicken, albeit tasty, was dry and there wasn't much of it! The apple crumble dessert was disappointing due to small portions for quite a price.
Came for lunch and was quite pleased. Soup of the day was excellent, salads are popular here and HUGE. Nicely executed, too, but be prepared to share or take leftover salad away! Lamb burger was delicious; bun held together and housemade chips were sensational. Only flaw was fried chicken: one piece was larger/thicker than the other and was undercooked. Other piece was fine, good batter crispness. Sides to chicken were executed perfectly. Service was very good. Vibe is friendly, casual, but decor is more upscale than Fume Bistro: here it's white tableclothes, less crowding, even tho prices are similar.
Lights were to bright for a 7 pm dinner. Food was good.
Napa Valley Bistro was not what I expected. We waited 30 minutes past our reservation time, the environment was very loud, hot and by the time we were seated we just weren't enjoying the experience. All that considered, if the food had been great --- the night could have been salvaged, sadly the food was OK at best and just wasn't anything great. I would not return based on many other better places in the area.
Our favorite Napa place to eat! Any time we have out of town guests that is where we take them.
In addition to having a wonderful dinner - pasta and seafood favorites, the restaurant manager actually chased us down on the sidewalk after our meal to personally deliver the take-home container that I had left on our table! Wonderful service, great food and atmosphere.
Lovely dinner, excellent and attentive service, yummy food, all in all an absolute winner.
Great menu with a good variety of options to suit anyone. Had the Crab Louis salad and it's the best Louis dressing I've ever had. Nicely accompanied by crunchy vegetables and a generous portion of crab. Excellent friendly service, nice atmosphere and easy parking.
I just wish I lived closer so I could dine here more often!
Great food and service! Went for my son’s birthday and was happy how kid/family friendly the restaurant is.
I took my mother there for lunch because she was craving Scallops.
She loved their seared Scallops!!!
She also loved the Calamari, and the Fish & Chips, substituting sweet potato fries instead of the regular "chips"
I had the Prime Rib Wrap. It was huge!!! and very tasty, served with house made, kettle potato chips. Next time, no bell pepper for me (personal preference)
The butterscotch pudding was okay.
The iced tea was fresh brewed, not the instant stuff out of a soda machine.
The food was very good, and we look forward to returning and trying all of the other menu items.
The best part of all, was the server.
I wish I could remember her name.
It was so refreshing to have a server that anticipated your every need.
It's been years since we've received such wonderful service.
She was very knowledgeable of the menu and how everything was prepared.
I don't think we were able to stump her with any of our questions.
Kudos to the Chef and kitchen staff, and to the Front of House Manager for having such a superb serving staff.
We truly enjoyed our lunch, even with the temporary construction projects happening just outside the door. It's going to look nice when they finish.
We had a lovely dinner here! Our waitress was great- very friendly and made great recommendations. We all ordered very different entrees and we all enjoyed them very much- definitely recommend!
Had a wonderful meal and the service is spot on. This is a fun and friendly environment and the staff very nice.
Excellent meals, attentive service, definitely we will return the next time we're in the area
Great appetizers. Caesar salad was good. Salmon just 'ok'. Fried chicken and Foley Mignon very good. Beignets disappointing (stuffed donut holes) and overpriced. Service was good though.
Very good delish
Napa Valley Bistro is one of our favorite restaurants We are monthly regulars and love the food and enjoy the service!
We brought dear friends to the restaurant because we like the food and the casual friendly ambience. The food was very good as always and the service was excellent. Our waitress was very good and has fun while making the experience enjoyable for patrons.
Service was excellent. Food was out quickly. Michael was our waiter. He was very friendly and did a good job :-)
