Napa Valley Bistro
AND AFFORDABLE! Our food is elevated bistro-style American cuisine, and our wine list compliments our menu by focusing on Napa Valley vintners.
Long delay after ordering....and I mean LONG. Food was mediocre at best. Noise level was unbearable.
The crab in the Dungeness crab salad didn’t taste fresh. :(
The food was delicious! The hanger steak can be a difficult cut, but was cooked perfectly. Companion’s pork chop looked marvelous, but was “average.” Enjoyed the spring roll appetizer, and would definitely go back for the beet salad! Being in Napa, we expected better options for wine by the glass, and would say that dampened our experience a little bit. Service was thoughtful and attentive. Would recommend for downtown Napa dining!
Arrived with a group of 6 to enjoy dinner.
The food very good, with a nice mix of options.
WE arriveD just before 7, and for the next hour it got progressively louder and louder. This is not a place I would come for a quiet romantic dinner. There were a couple of larger groups of 10 plus people that may have made it louder than normal.
The service was more like 3.5 stars. I am really only removing points because the server did not check in with us once after the meal was served and we were there for at least an hour.
Overall it was a good experience, and I would eat here again
Our waiter started off really great, but then he kept forgetting to bring us things (i.e., my dad's wine, my husband's drink, and side dish). Also, a number of things were not available (because they had run out), which was disappointing. But overall, the food is great here.
Very good brunch . Service little slow especially bringing coffee in timely manner. Overall good though ( food ,service)
Loved the food- well prepared gnocchi, crab flatbread and chopped salad. Service was excellent. Noise level was too loud for comfort. Ambience was pleasing. Will visit again
My only complaint is that our waiter misheard me when I asked for the steak special. What I was served was schnitzel. Unfortunately, I'm not usually one to complain or send a plate back so I ate it anyway. It was actually pretty good. So not the worst thing that could happen. My advice is to speak loudly and enunciate when you order.
It depends. I won't come back but I know it's perfect for certain people and certain occasions.
This restaurant was a short walk from our hotel in downtown Napa. We had a reservation and were promptly seated. Lively atmosphere, great food, and friendly service.
Delicious food, quaint restaurant and great service! Next trip to Napa, I would be happy to visit again!
It was noisy and the food was okay but overpriced. Our table was in the middle of the room and we could barely hear one another. I won’t return.
Wonderful experience. Food, service and atmosphere were perfect. Such a gem in Napa.
All the staff was friendly and wanted to please out requests. Our server was very responsive and helpful. A really nice restaurant, decor was fresh and food is delicious.
Our waitress was outstanding
The host was rude and arrogant to guests that were waiting for a table they had reserved
Delicious meal with friends, we cleaned our plates!
We really enjoyed our dinner -- the food was excellent (I had the fig and pear salad and halibut, and my partner the watermelon salad and scallops), the servers were personable and attentive. I would definitely recommend the Napa Valley Bistro to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion.
In the area for PGA Safeway Open. This was a real find. Quiet city neighborhood and a dining room that seemed to be mostly locals. Took advantage of a nicely varied menu with great small plates (buttermilk calamari!), salads (Chinese chicken salad) and entrees (pan seared salmon and Alaskan halibut). They were down a busboy but our server really hustled to keep everything moving. My two friends and I could not have had a better time.
The food was very good. Our server was spread too thin but did her best.
Chef is very creative! Lots of flavors in food! Absolutely the best meal my husband and I had in a long time. Was quite noisy in main dining area so we moved over by the bar which worked for us.
The food was delicious!! We both had cravings on this night but also very different personal palates . One got the fried chicken another a chopped salad. Both were excellent!
Jose provided great service. Our good was delicious.
Very enjoyable evening. Great service. Nice ambiance.
The location is very convenient. It is on a side street so they don't get a ton of noise from traffic or people walking by. The service was outstanding and the menu was value-oriented and well executed.
The restaurant and atmospere were very good but the food didn't quite hit my wow spot. I had the grass fed filet and it came exactly how I ordered it. The meat was super tender and better than some grass fed meat I've had. Unfortunately it was to salty. My husband had one of his fav dishes, fried chicken. The crust was bland and tasted like flour. The cornbread was really good. Dessert was good but nothing over the top.
Service was very good.
When we arrived, the hostess had not read the requests on our reservation and planned to place us at a table that did not meet our needs or expectations. However, upon calling the manager, he was very accommodating and was able to adjust the reservation to meet our requests. The rest of the meal and service was excellent. I would return.
Enjoyed lunch at this great spot. Food and service was great. Would definitely come back when in town again. Seemed to be a local favourite.
I commend the chef/mgt. that there were a number of healthy
choices for me who has a number of food allergies. The pear and fig salad was delicious and the sliced grilled chicken was seasoned such that it made a delicious protein. We are happy to add Napa Valley Bistro to our short list of go to restaurants when we are in the area (from Sausalito). Staff was very pleasant also.
Over the years we have really enjoyed going to the Napa Valley Bistro, the food is good and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Unfortumately they have recently been accepting more and more reservations for large groups so the noise level has increased dramatically and it is no longer as pleasant to eat here as a couple.
First time visiting. Great staff, food was delicious and portions were generous. Can’t wait to stop in again next month.
Great food and service. very fresh ingredients, creatively prepared and presented. Scallops were excellent. Very good wine selection. Highly recommended.
Neighborhood gem that is very well supported by locals!
Management greets you w/ warmth and takes a personal interest in each guest.
Short ribs were tender and flavorful.
We will continue to return frequently!
They have a diverse menu and we received attentive, personalized service. The food is very good quality and each dish was very well prepared. 2 of our party ordered crab Louis salads and they both thought they were excellent. I ordered the seared scallops which were served with wasabi mashed potatoes and it was beautifully presented and delicious. I have eaten in many restaurants that have Michelin stars, and not had a better version of seared scallops than they prepared. One of the people in our group ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken and thought it was a bit too plain. The dressing was not very flavorful, and he wished they had garnished it with delicious croutons and anchovies, but they just served lettuce in a very mild dressing and a plainly seasoned chicken breast. Overall, we were very happy with the relaxed atmosphere and the food, and we will go back.
It is a nice enough place. Waitress was nice but a little slow. Cocktails were okay and reasonably priced but I got four swigs. Ton of ice and sugar and maybe a half a shot of liquor. Hate how all the restaurants want to stiff you on cocktails these days. Food seemed to be done well but it just wasn't very flavoral. Sooooo more a like not love relationship. Mileage varies based on mood and what you try of course.. Overall I'd recommend a visit but no return visit for us.
The Crab Louie Salad is to die for. There was a ton of crab meat and the perfect amount of dressing. I also had the fillet mignon which was perfectly cooked and very tender. Vanessa is always an excellent and friendly server and remembered me even though I hadn’t been there in awhile. Napa Valley Bistro is one of Napa’s is hidden gems. Great food without the high prices!
I had the gnocchi and it was very good. We parked at the Archer Hotel and walked from there and it was a delightful walk
Great food, great service, great place to unwind after work. The crab salad is so wonderful with so much crab you see it in every bite. Also enjoyed the crab flatbread, can't go wrong if you love crab.
So nice to go out where you have professional waiter/waitresses.
Service was excellent, just the right amount of attention. For our appetizer we had the Ahi and we both enjoyed the scallops for dinner. Food was great which we pared with a nice rose'.
