Napa General Store
It was important to them that the Napa General Store was authentic in every detail, and that includes making their cornmeal pancakes from scratch, squeezing oranges for juice and using local farm-raised eggs for breakfast.
Their hearts told them that if they put together the friendliest staff in Napa, and treated guests like they were home, that good things would follow.
After more than ten years of welcoming locals and visitors alike it seems their instincts were correct. Locals have their favorite tables and visitors return year after year for the quality, value and down-home charm.
The Napa General Store café continues a tradition of casual riverside dining in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere (Fido welcome on the back deck).
Started eating here for lunch last month. The salads, burgers and chicken sandwich are incredible. Service is always efficient and being next to the river is a nice back drop. Parking is the only delay, but well worth searching for a spot to get a good lunch. Thank you for being efficient during my lunch hour break.
The brunch offerings were numerous, and all were excellent. The owner could not find my reservation even though I had Open Table confirms on my phone. A bit awkward for my guests.
The quality of the food was ok. The service was excellent.
The paleo scramble was delicious, but my friends ordered the huevos rancheros and said they were very bland and lacking in flavor. Bloody Mary was also watery and not thick or spicy at all. The atmosphere is lively and fun.
Excellent, as usual! We only had to wait a few minutes for our reserved table.
Quick lunch while wine tasting - really enjoyed it!
Hadn't been here in 10 years, but am happy to say the breakfast was very good. Enjoyed the service and food. Charming funky decor. Plus their little store is fun to browse through.
Don’t remember our servers name but she was great!!!!
Service was friendly, but a bit slow. Brunch was fantastic and more than made up for it though. Wish the patio had been open as the rain held off until the evening.
We had breakfast before going to a winery event and had a great meal!
As always, it’s the place to go when you want a nice casual friendly lunch.
I had requested a table near the fire, and we got it. The service was excellent, and they even gave my mother a delicious berry cobbler for her 98th birthday, which was the day before. We come here every time we visit Napa, and it is always great. In better weather (it was pouring) we frequently sit out on the patio.
I'd describe this place as "adequate". Food is ok, nothing that blows you away but nothing bad. Beignets were nothing special, biting into one was like biting into a donut filled with hot chocolate. Redeeming quality is the setting on the river and the store, though the host wouldn't allow us to sit outside by the river telling us "it's closed" despite there clearly being people dining out there. Dish prices doesn't justify the quality served.
we loved it. server was friendly and responsive. Food was very good.
The food was OK, nothing to really rave about. The service was slow and a bit disconnected. I had to ask about coffee refill, cream and sugar.
Not impressed for the price range.
It was quiet when we were there but to be fair, it was a slow time. Food was excellent, service was good, and it was a really cute store
Napa General Store never disappoints, no matter the day or occasion, inside or outside. The food is always outstanding and the service excellent.
The restaurant was crowded and busy when we had breakfast. I was a little disappointed when I saw the menu it was limited and no substitution were allowed. However our breakfast was delicious, filling and arrived quickly after we ordered. We both left happy.
Best place in town for breakfast, brunch, or lunch if you want a casual place to sit by the river.
We all enjoyed our office team reunion and each of us had the Chopped Chicken Salad which was excellent!
It took an hour for us to get our food after we ordered. Hard when you have an 8 year old. Although they waived our drinks (tea & coffee) and beignets, it would have been nice if they brought out some fruit or bread while we were waiting.
I love the Napa General Store. Good food and service. Diverse menu. Dining outside is the best!
We had an early breakfast here on a Saturday. Quick service. Average food. Overall was fine. Latte was prepared way too quickly and tasted as if it was coffee with steamed milk. A one time experience
Went for midweek breakfast. Amazing service from Gina and food was delicious. Napa omelette was my favorite.
Only table we could get was for 9:30. We arrived; our son arrived, but the other 3 had flown in from Honolulu on a night flight to Oakland. They were 45 minutes late! Our server was very patient, got our coffee and a few sides for our son...no one ever asked us to give up our outdoor seating nor did anyone make us feel guilty for having taken 2 tables pushed together for our party of 6. The other 3 finally arrived...delicious breakfasts, lattes...and a still-patient server, with the outdoor patio now crowded. Thank you for your patience!
We usually love coming here for breakfast on the weekends but the service was way off.
This place never disappoints. Good food, good service and great location.
Had family from back east visiting and it was a great breakfast followed by a walk along the river front.
We brought my grandma to General Store for lunch. We've had good meals here but this was outstanding. My guy is a big pizza fan, known to hop on a plane to hit a fave spot. He said the pizza he got here was the best he'd had. I had the smoked salmon flat bread and it was dynamite. My grandma enjoyed her clam chowder and chicken quesadilla. We had the pork spring rolls for an appetizer. Good but not the highlight of the meal. I must add that we had impeccable and attentive service.
Fun little spot for girls brunch ~ great Bloody Marys
The paleo omelette was good. I liked the cornmeal pancakes but boyfriend thought they were bland. I like bland so I thought they were very good.
our waitress was quite aggressive. we met in order to have a business talk but kept being interrupted. she is probably pretty good and was having a bad day!
Nice spot to get together for lunch with friends. The lunch special I had was delicious, the roasted veggie sandwich. There was some confusion with my friend's order, which took my ranking down some.
We sat outside and it was so pleasant and nice patio with sun umbrellas. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The food was good but not much of a gluten free menu.
Food was decent but service was terrible. Inattentive and forgetful. Would not return.
Great brunch.
We love the General Store. We go there as often as possible. Love the shopping, the service, the food, the ambience and more.
My brother, friend, and I went to General Store for breakfast on July 4th. I arrived about 5 minutes late for my 11:00am reservation and when I went to check in for my table, the hostess seemed to be having a difficult time looking up information on her computer. She said her system was acting up and that she would seat me in 5 minutes. I noticed there were at least 5 tables not being used and it didn’t seem particularly busy as in other occasions I’ve been there. Several other parties came in to try and get tables and almost 30 minutes passed and I still was not seated. I went up to the desk and the hostess said she tried texting me but after checking my phone, I received no such texts. We were about to leave to get food elsewhere but we were finally seated at 11:35am. We ordered as quickly as we could and we did not get our food for another 30 minutes. Mind you we only ordered two breakfasts with French Toast and one with the pancakes. I don’t know what the problem was that day or what was going on, but it was a disappointing experience. I’ve been to General Store on busier days and have received much better and more prompt service.
A surprise birthday luncheon was very delayed with folks arriving later than expected. The food was consistently good, prepared and served quickly. We loved the berry cobbler- excellent with lattes.
Great service in a very crowded afternoon. Recommend for casual dining
