Good fresh food, the music was atrocious and too loud. We don’t need pop music at what is supposed to be a nice restaurant. Hurt the ambiance and the experience.
The food was great. Super fresh and top quality fish. The service was extremely kind and attentive. I loved everything
Unique little spot and although not many vegan option on menu, would highly recommend since chef did an unbelievable job creating an all veggie maki that was the best I've ever had! Much appreciated!
I was one of Naoki's first customers when they first opened and we were so impressed with the menu and the food was a culinary experience. Loved it and have been a frequent customer since. Service was excellent.
Outstanding experience. My friend who happens to be a girl, Maeve, had a wonderful birthday.
Celebrating birthdays. I’m a regular at Naoki for less than a year and I’m a super fan. Every time I come, he has something new on the chef special menu. It’s so good. My friends are impressed!!!
As an obsessive date planner, I can't recommend Naoki enough. Delicious and authentic food aside, the entire experience, from entering through the gorgeously (and kind of hilariously) over-the-top lobby of the Belden-Stratford to the stylish and intimate dining room was such a joy. Our server was friendly and attentive, helping us craft a perfect little makeshift omakase (we didn't know to reserve the official omakase in advance oops!), and our chef served up delicious bite after delicious bite. After almost a year of searching for the perfect go-to sushi spot, I think we've found the one. We'll definitely be back very very soon.
Amazing food environment service. Hands down best sushi place in the city.
Not your typical sushi spot, fresh and inspiring. The uni sourced for the special was so fresh and offered in innovative combinations. The space is casual but sophisticated.
The Japanese food was all excellent, especially the dishes prepared with sea urchins. And the service provided by Ryan and the rest of the staff was equally good.
Naoki is one of the best , if not the best, sushi bars in the city. Creative and delicious.
All around great experience. Service, ambience, and -
most importantly—fantastic sushi!
Wonderful experience. We will be back. The sushi changed my life. Chef Naoki came to our table and helped us make sushi choices. We felt like rockstars. The server was knowledgeable about the menu. Beautiful time with my daughters. I wish they were open longer hours.
I truly believe Naoki to be one of the best sushi restaurants in Chicago. It is so cool the way it is hidden away. A the same time the staff makes you feel so welcome. The food is always fantastic. I wish I could eat there every day...
We hadn’t been to Naoki for quite a while and found it not as good as our memory of it. The edamame guacamole was great as usual, but the tuna tacos seemed to be missing some flavor even though they had a generous amount of tuna. The rainbow roll wasn’t memorable and not much flavor. Our spicy tuna roll was alright but I’m not sure that we would have it again. I think that need to rethink some of their offerings.
All of us enjoyed the omasake. Naoki is truly creative on all of his dishes! I have been dining here almost once a month since September 2017.
The sushi at Naoki is always outstanding...always very fresh and lots of clever combinations. For whatever reason, the service this Monday evening was poor (maybe they were understaffed). No hot towels to start (although the table next to us got their's)...fairly slow service with a very long wait after we ordered before we got any food. There were only 2 waiters and a hostess working the room and maybe 2 sushi chefs even though it wasn't very crowded, I had feeling they were overwhelmed. This was atypical and we will be back because the sushi is very good...but if it had been our first time to Naoki, it would have probably also been our last
Wonderful food and very nice service. We arrived 15 minutes early for our 730 Saturday dinner reservation and were seated immediately. Started with the edamame "guacamole", which was fantastic. The rolls were fine but the nigiri was the star of the show - especially the kanpachi.
The food was mediocre but nothing special and over priced for the quality. The service was TERRIBLE. We waited 30 minutes just for our appetizer and then about another 45-50 for our meal and it was not busy.
Can't say enough great things about Naoki. Stumbled upon great reviews and decided to make reservations...which were suprisingly easy to come by for a saturday evening. It sits hidden in one of the vintage high-rise hotels in Lincoln Park across the street from the LP conservatory. You enter through a quiet door and walk through the kitchen on the way to the dining room. The dining room is small and quaint. We were lucky enough to sit at the bar. The service was incredible. Lovely and helpful. Everything that was recommended was more tasty than we expected. The selections were perfectly dressed/seasoned augmenting the natural flavors of the fish. And the drinks! AMAZING! The sake was incredible and our crafted cocktails were very tasty. So excited to find an upscale sushi restaurant that isn't "scene-y" with a menu that was simple, delicious and not over-run with mega maki rolls. Hope to visit again soon!
I really cant describe it. Maybe its their rice. Maybe its their fish. But Chef Naoki and crew have it down to science. Best Sushi Ive ever had. I'm thinking its time we have a Omakasi with chef Naoki to take our experience to the next level. Everything was absolutely delightful.
We had the most incredible experience at Naoki. Our server, Ryan, was outstanding - we eat out 2-3x a week and he is maybe the best we have ever encountered. The service was just next-level (better than NOBU!) and the food was completely wonderful. Fresh fish, delicious and interesting flavor profiles that built on one another the more you ate a dish, excellent sake and whiskey selections that paired beautifully with the food. A true home run in every sense! Thank you to Ryan and the Naoki team! We will be back with open hearts and excited bellies soon!
Naoki was such a dream! LEYE killed it with this one. We sat at the sushi bar for my birthday dinner and it could not have been a better experience. AMAZING food, so creative. Surprisingly, the Japanese fried chicken was to die for. Our service was excellent. Both the server and the chefs had fantastic recommendations. The wine and beer list was exceptional too. Highly highly recommend going here!
Freshest sashimi I've had in Chicago! Excellent service. Creative and delicious cuisine. Our favorites were the Scallop under Naoki-style sashmi, and the hamachi collar, which was on special.
Food was truly excellent, and once we sat down, the meal was quite enjoyable. But we had an 8:15 reservation and finally sat down at 8:50. Nobody checked in on us or offered us even a drink while we waited. It was not the level of service I expect from a lettuce entertain you restaurant, and it really cast a sour note on the evening. The hostess mentioned there were five tables who had paid but not yet gotten up, but I’m hard pressed to believe that this was a rare occasion. While the actual meal was great and allowed us to relax, we were disappointed by such a frustrating start of the evening.
Naoki is one of the best, if not the best, sushi spots in the city. Absolutely fantastic!
Great Sushi, quality & cuts are amazing
Try the Sake flight for 29$ & the Japanese Whiskey flight was another great selection
The food was great overall, but since we came on a saturday night so it was quite busy and our server didn't pay a lot attention to us. Plus the dining room is not very spacious and lots of tables were packed so it was very noisy. My husband and I can hardly hear each other eventhough we sat face to face.
Naoki never dissapoints! We love everything about it. The sushi is the freshest in Chicago, amazing presentation and service. The atmosphere is equally as awesome and is intimate and cozy. We always look forward to our night at Naoki and can't wait to return.
By far the best sushi in the city! We were very impressed with the quality of every dish and the attentiveness and professionalism of our server. After our appetizer, we were already making plans to come back.
Loved the old school sushi
There doesn't seem to be a dessert menu, per se; but please don't skip the mochi. The ice cream disc is right-sized for one, available in multiple flavors (e.g., chocolate, hazelnut & green tea), and delightful.
The best, most fresh sushi in the city hands down!Always look forward to sitting at the sushi bar and watching Chef Naoki at work.
Best quality sushi and sashimi we have had in quite a while. It’s all about the fish.
Excellent food! Fresh fish!
Great restaurant experience and superb fish. Excited to return.
More than just "good food", I think what makes Naoki a neat spot is that both times I've been seated at the bar area, the chefs interact with you and give you recommendations. That is very cool! Every time I leave (been about 5 times now) I leave happy! Great place!
I've been at Naoki 3 times and this last time the service was extremely slow and inattentive. The place was half full and did not seem busy. Nevertheless, the wait for service was long and a couple times I had to ask if they had forgotten our orders.
Chose Naoki for a Valentine’s dinner with my girlfriend because we are both huge sushi fans. I can say that this is hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had. (Usually I eat in Chicago/Suburbs area)
The drinks were fantastic, and we even ordered a tasting of 4 incredible Sakes. The fish was fresh and we both left more than satisfied with our experience!
I would definitely go again!
Great restaurant ! Really greasy fish and incredible service!
