Fantastic, creative, excellent sushi, with a nice sake list as well.
Food was amazing. Great service.
Excellent sushi, some nice, true Japanese offerings (loved the egg custard), and intimate setting (not too loud) which we enjoyed.
You haven't had sushi until you've been to Naoki. It has ruined all other sushi restaurants for me it's so good! The service was beyond great. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful, made very good suggestions for us. I am a huge fan of unagi, but I've never tasted anything like this! It literally melted in your mouth. After telling the server how good it was, he suggested an order of unagi with truffle sauce. This item was not on the menu and the combination sounded a bit odd, but honestly it was the most delicious thing to have ever touched my pallet. The prices were extremely reasonable for the quality of both food and service. 100% I will be returning!
The restaurant is actually in the back of the hotel with the entrance starting in the kitchen. I was not impressed by that but the service was exceptional. Sushi was overpriced with limited choices. I would recommend the spicy tuna, the garlic tuna was not good. Very small area so reservations are required.
Excellent service and food.
Great sushi, cool but small and windowless dining room.
Chef special is amazing
Fabulous food and service small and intimate seating.
Overall enjoyable experience. Everything we had was very creative, including the cocktails. Was very quiet when we were there - small and intimate dining room you access by walking through a kitchen. Only suggestion is broader, and cheaper, wine selection. Cheapest Chardonnay $74 a bottle.
We were four people.. ordered a bunch of stuff and server said it was fine. We have 4 extra rolls ..
Also asked for not sweet drinks and his suggestion was very sweet.
Quality of toro and blue fin excellent - like butter - yum. SOOOO Much better than 90% of the sushi places in the city. Quality of service also EXCELLENT. Quality of sashimi reminded me of HEAT back in the day.
Lettuce needs to invest more resources in this place. It is great sushi!!!
This was our first time here and my husband and I will definitely be back!! The Sushi was excellent! And the server we had was great!
The fish is always super fresh and artfully presented. There were some pacing and service problems but the staff protectively recognized this and came to us, apologized and comped some of our items. Naoki is our favorite sushi place, and this is the first time anything has been less than perfect in many visits. Not worth a second mention. We'll be back for sure. They will not disappoint.
Stellar sushi - only complaint is that the bar hides the prep area. It would be great to watch the creation.
The fish and seafood were outstanding, but, the service was rushed. Our food came out way too fast for the prices charged.
We try to dine at Naoki every couple weeks. We love traditional sushi and sashimi and we think Naoki has the best fish - consistently - of any similar restaurant in Chicago. Service is always attentive; the server knows the selections, is professional, and always on top of clearing away used plates. We sit at the sushi bar as we prefer being as close as possible to the sushi chefs. At Naoki, we think they are truly the stars of a great dining experience. We enthusiastically recommend Naoki to sushi/sashimi lovers!
Great food service but very loud.
Fabulous server Derick, wonderful enthusiastic young service and the best Sushi since I was in Japan!
My wife and I love sushi and have enjoyed it all over the US and abroad. This was our BEST sushi meal ever. We look forward to returning to Chicago just to get back to Naoki.
The Best & Freshest sushi in town. Chef Naoki runs an exemplary establishment and his managers & staff worked to the same degree of excellence. Love Naoki. Both the man and the restaurant.
My boyfriend and I visited Chicago for my 21st birthday and got a table at Naoki for dinner. We ended up being about 10 minutes late for our reservation, because we were unfamiliar with the neighborhood, but the staff was very kind and understanding and we got our table. I loved how they walk you through the kitchen, and the dining space was small and cozy. We got a booth in the back where we could see the whole dining area. Our waiter was charismatic and knowledgeable, and gave a great recommendation for drinks. The sushi was out of this world, so fresh and definitely the best I'd ever had. It was one of the nicest dining experiences I've ever had, and my boyfriend felt the same. Worth every penny!
The quality of the sushi at Naoki was worth the price. Compared to other sushi restaurants we have eaten at...the level at Naoki really stood out. We will def. be back again.
Tuna tacos are a must
Greatest sushi ever! Sashimi are outstanding and the service is tremendous!
Ryan was our server and he was so wonderful. Not only did he know everything there was to know about the menu, he also had great recommendations based on our interests.
One of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Uni, fatty tuna and blue fin tuna are fantastic. Whenever I go back again, those are the three things that I’ll order again. Special appetizers are pretty unique, in a good way.
The best Sushi restaurant in Chicago
Naoki is always superb. From the quality seafood, the care chef takes in all of the sushi, service, cocktails & sake.. plus this a truly a hidden gem in the Beldon-Strafford. As you walk through the kitchen to get to the interior of the restaurant you are greeted by all the friendly chefs. Ryan has been our server over 4 times now & as a frequent restaurant diner I have to say his service exceeds expectations beyond anything received in Chicago. Period. His knowledge, time & care he puts into each table really makes you feel special & welcome. I never have anything other than an impeccable time at Naoki.
Amazing ambience! The sushi was extremely fresh. We greatly enjoyed the Salmon Sashimi Plate & the Spicy Scallop Handrolls. I would highly reccomend the Momo Sauvignon Blanc as well. Perfect date night location!
Delicious, inventive sushi menu. Edamame guacamole was an unusual find. Will definitely return to try some different items!
They’re absolutely fantastic! Sushi is one of the best in Chicago land area and they also have a great sake selection as well. Staff is extremely polite and very helpful.
Manager touched every single table on Saturday evening, which is impressive.
Not your typical sushi place. They literally have about 10 rolls to pick from. The whole dining room holds about 30 people, and only 1 or 2 servers. Or your typical Lettuce Entertain you service. Slow and dragging. 25 minutes to make 2 rolls? Ridiculous. Only one guy making the sushi. It’s a twist on sushi. Stick to what you are good at Leye!!
We enjoyed the food. The space was disappointing. Casual spaces can be very pleasant but this was darkish closed in, don’t think it had a single window
We tried a lot of the Sushi and also the Fried Chicken. WOW!
This was a standout meal. Beatiful presentation across the board, and the flavors were assertive in every bite.
Great place and ingredients used are fresh!! Sashimi are tasty and served at the right temperature. Small place and slightly expensive but worth it.
We love our visits to Naoki. From the first moment we enter from the discreet and secret entrance, we are treated like truly valued guests. Whether it’s the family hello from Chef, or table visit from Bill for the excellent wait service of Charles.
We visit this restaurant because of Chef Naoki’s commitment to the freshest and best tasting fish available. We are never disappointed and often, as in the case last evening, we are thrilled. We are regulars and we appreciate the extra kindnesses showered on us. But whether you are a first timer or regular, you were always treated with courtesy and kindness. Start with some delicious sashimi, work your way to awesome special and unique hand rolls finish it off with the reprise of some of your favorites of the evening and some top grade uni.
Not only our favorite sushi restaurant, but one of her favorite restaurants in all of Chicago and it’s environs. We highly recommend this place.
PS if you have a hankering for fried chicken try chef’s fried chicken. You will not be disappointed.
Too expensive for small portions. Average service. Limited menu. Underwhelming experience.
Fresh fish, beautiful presentation. Great spot for sushi, fish for the fish's sake. A must try for sushi lovers.
As long as you understand you’re about to get a super high quality selection of sushi and sashimi and pay accordingly, you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend getting the Chef’s selection of sashimi as I’ve never had a piece as good as the slice of semi fatty salmon that was one of the chef’s choices. An all-around wonderful time
