Nantucket's Reef Ratings and Reviews
Normally we really like going to Nantucket Reef. However on New Year's Eve their food was definitely mediocre, although it was their regular menu . The mussels did not taste the same as usual and even the Mahi special was so so. The shrimp skewer (part of the mahi special) was very fishy . Presentation of the dishes on the plate left to be desired...
Nantucket’s Reef is great! The decor is just like Nantucket. The food is delicious and the presentation is authentic Nantucket. The service is the best! The employees and wait staff are always friendly and accommodating. You have to try their Cole slaw! See if you can guess the secret ingredient. And the crab”no”cakes are wonderful. Make a reservation, or just stop by and they will always get you a table as quickly as possible. YUM!
The food was amazing! I went the night before for the first time and had to go back the next day. The calamari was the best I’ve ever had, their portions are huge, they don’t skimp on the seafood servings (the fish tacos had a lot of fish, the fried shrimp were big, the Atlantic char was perfectly done) so you get what you pay for; not to mention the service was great! I would absolutely go back and recommend this place to anyone who loves seafood.
We love this place! For seafood, it’s a really good value. The menu is limited, but has enough variety that you can always find something you’ll like. They also have daily specials. I particularly like the Wicked Mussels, which are an appetizer, but I order them as a entree. In cold weather months, they are very plumb and juicy. The sauce (a garlic, butter-based broth with bits of spicy sausage) is good enough to eat with a spoon. That and a house salad of lettuce, etc. with corn and “craisins” makes a very satisfying meal.
Took large group out to dinner. Everyone was very happy with quality of appetizers and meals. Only issue some had were with drinks. Otherwise, food was prompt and very good. Love their wicked Mussells. Tried their crab, no cakes, for first time and they were spectacular! Double lump crab and no filling! Team enjoyed meal and place cam accommodate large groups!
Service has always been hit or miss. Sometimes it's great and a lot of times, it's not great. Tonight was one of those evenings. Our sever was non-attentive. We never got water for table nor were we asked if we wanted our drinks refilled. One person in our party ordered clam chowder as an appetizer and it came out during the entree. Our server was cleaning our table of plates some of which people were still eating from.
I ordered the fish tacos and they had no taste and a piece of salmon fell out of the taco and it still had the skin on it. I don't remember salmon being in the fish taco in prior visits.
The wicked mussels are AMAZING as is the crab dip!
Our food was delicious and our server, Gabby, was delightful.
My only "gripe" isn't anything big; I kind of I wish they'd made a fuss over my birthday, but I had a positive experience and a birthday coupon too. =-) [So what do you want then, right? ;-) ]
Sorry, didn't think take a picture of my meal--tilapia with crab--but it looked as good as it tasted; it was appetizing in appearance , which is important to me. The chef is apparently an artist. The manager is attentive and polite; he just stopped by to make sure all was well, which it was.
Nantucket's Reef is awesome, and my sister and I have made that our spot; she looks forward to going there when she comes to town. I'd certainly recommend it!
this restaurant primarily serves seafood, but has other dishes as well. service always is friendly and reasonably quick. the menu is not extensive, but we prefer that to a place that tries to be all things to all eaters. everything we've tried has been excellent, and the prices are fair.
I've been to Nantucket's Reef several times. It's become our go to place for seafood, especially crab cakes and fried shrimp! The food is always delicious, and it's nice casual and family friendly atmosphere. It's been perfect for our large family dinners (12-18 people) or just a casual weekend lunch for just a few of us.
Excellent service. The food is outstanding an it arrives as it should hot food hot and cold food cold. The serves are very good they wait until you have eaten your appetizer before dinner is served which is nice to say the least. The men is small but the choices are quite varied and can and will met you needs. If you have children there is a children's menu which offers them a good selection of what they like to eat. Overall an excellent place to have a nice dinner and conversation. We love the place and go at least every two weeks
Surprisingly hard to get decent seafood in the Rockville/Gaithersburg areas. Preparation was very good except for the very tough calamari, and the portions were generous. This is an all around pleasant place to take a friend and easy on the conversation level.
Management was most responsive when we asked for the AC to be turned off on this early fall, chilly night. No hassle, and the manager came by to be sure we were comfortable.
I've taken 20 people here for lunch and eaten in the comfortable back room. Good place for any occasion.
