Nanea Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Birthday celebration for my wife with family. Was asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, told our server and not even an acknowledgement. Cocktails weren't offered before meal, had to ask and service was extremely slow for a dinning area that was not busy. Food was okay not exceptional especially for the price. Not a memorable birthday celebration for my wife.
Food was nice, but service was terribly slow. Wasn't offered a choice of inside vs. outside -- even though we had reservations, they tucked us in the far back next to a large group but there were lots of tables open. Had to wait for everything -- water service, drink order, food order, bread came after the appetizer, etc. Food was nice, with a good selection of choices, but wasn't particularly special or memorable. For the price, this shouldn't be a first choice in the Princeville area.
We live on Kauai for many years. Our weekend at the Westin was through a Fundraiser for Island school. Thastay at the resort was fabulous. We decided to have dinner at Nanea our first night. Everything was great, with the exception of our entree of fish being dramatically overcooked. We are not thevsort that complain. We're blessed to live where we do. Sorry for a less than perfect review, everthing else was. But, when you charge $38 for a piece of fish, it should be done correctly.
We went here for dinner for our anniversary on our last night at the Westin Princeville. We had the Tasting Journey 5 course dinner with wine pairings. Everything was fantastic- especially the service. We had a wonderful table with a front row seat of the beautiful pool and ocean as a backdrop. We will eat here again!
Had a chance to enjoy their prime rib on a Sunday night. Very nice cut and cooked to perfection. It was properly seasoned which help to enhance the taste. Service was outstanding, the waiter was David, he was attentive and professional. Topped the meal off with a pineapple cake that was tasty and hit the spot.
I have to tell you. This restaurant was not only yelp or even the open table search pages. We were in Kauia and were always directed to the St Regis. We walked through the st Regis . Their ambiance did not fit us. Only bc of their Nanea Restaurant sign is when I started to investigate. What a great place . Their food was excellent. Server and the manager both stopped by and I told them how I felt the restaurant was not on any top search engine list . Their filet was the most tender that I have ever tasted.
We ate outdoors under the covered terrace in the evening around 7:30 and the temperature was perfect! We had a beautiful table overlooking the pool and the grounds surrounding it. Very tropical with water falls and ponds with koi in them. Complete with tiki torches. The good was amazing! One of us is vegan and they had several choices for dinner, including desserts. They are very willing to work with you if you have special dietary needs so don't be afraid to ask! Overall we loved it!
The Caesar salad is quite good . The sides that can be added to a salad are price performers . Vegetable sides are ok . The quality here is good but it all translates to a "meh" kind of evening , little to no creativity but also, no flexibility on what can be ordered . The breakfast is much better, in another league .
This is what Hawaii is suppose to be. We experienced a lovely evening.
Service starting with the hostess was excellent, Brian was our waiter and did a stellar job. The ambiance at dusk was beautiful with the tiki torches lit around the grounds.
I want to stay at this property next visit to Kauai.
We decided to have Sunday brunch buffet here because The St Regis isn't doing brunch buffet anymore. Wow! This was way better than the St Regis brunch. There was something for everyone. Prime rib, sushi, poke, crab legs, shrimp, sushi grade tuna and salmon, salad, fried rice, ginger chicken, Chinese fish, and the usual brunch items. Not to mention the mimosas. The only issue is the birds but then again, you're in paradise. Why worry about the small things.
Great meal and great service for our family of 5. Something on the menu for everyone and no one had a bad meal. Unfortunately we couldn't sit outside (although there was a lot of open tables), so the ambiance wasn't to my liking, but overall a great dinner. Our hostess and server were top-notch.
Ordered the Ahi special. The tuna tasted spoiled / fishy and was not edible. Had to send the fish back. Waitress told us that the chef told her the Ahi had been cut a few days ago and that he had not tasted it that day. Told us that the chef was throwing out the rest of the Ahi. While I appreciated her honesty, why is this restaurant serving old tuna as their "fresh" special? What chef doesn't taste such an item before serving it to a customer? The other two entrees were very good.
Outstanding service, flavorful food, and solid drinks; a very enjoyable evening!
I came here with my wife on the first night of our honeymoon on Kaua'i; we made an online OT reservation and were greeted with great courtesy. I explained me having to eat gluten-free (not a diet fad; in gastroenterological treatment by an M.D. etc. pp), and both our waitstaff AND the kitchen paid close attention to everything -- the waitress had the initiative and forethought to inquire about my cocktail, too (which is smart; sometimes colorings, syrups, etc. can contain gluten).
The only criticisms I'd note are, one, the noise level of the artificial waterfall nearby in the outdoor seating area, and two, the limited options for gluten-free folks. Again, no complaint about the quality or the safety; I absolutely recommend this restaurant to folks who need to eat safely for health reasons. But it'd be nice to have more choice.
