Nancetta's Ratings and Reviews
There was one waitress in the whole place and someone who just poured water and occasionally removed dirty dishes. There were only three other tables when we arrived, yet, it took forever for the waitress to take our order, to get our salads and then to get our food. I wonder if they were short on staff that particular night or if it's like that all the time. Food was very good but probably wouldn't go back because of the service.
The service was absolutely terrible. We waited almost 2 hours for our entrees. We were told our food would be out momentarily after waiting an hour and then 20 minutes later were told it was being plated. Finally it arrived 15 minutes after that. We were given a $20 gift certificate. However, I doubt I will ever go back!
On my birthday, I requested to dine at Nancetta's. You sense the warm and inviting atmosphere once you step inside. The decor of stonework, including a rough cut stone bar, and copper table tops are impressive. My boyfriend and I would have preferred to dine on the outdoor patio, but the weather was unpredictable that evening. While enjoying a glass of wine to the relaxing music and soft glowing light, the Owner, Paul, brought to our table a beautiful presentation of sashimi tuna and fresh figs on a footed marble plate. It was very good. We ordered two appetizers equally delicious: seared scallops with light basil cream sauce and grilled Spanish octopus. The menu lists creative Italian fare and the wine list includes interesting selections at reasonable prices. We asked Paul for recommendations and both dishes were outstanding! The first dish was light and satisfying. Fresh eggplant, mushrooms, and vegetables were tossed with homemade pasta, cooked al dente, in a perfectly spiced roasted tomato sauce and topped with tender grilled chicken. The second dish featured an unexpected spinalis ribeye. Mouth watering tender flavorful beef over creamy risotto and a side of baby Bok Choy blew us away! My birthday finale of Nancy's homemade chocolate lava cake was beyond compare. The service was attentive but we felt a little rushed to order at first. We asked to slow the pace and our server graciously complied. The premium beef dish came with a premium price but the chicken pasta dish was priced appropriately. I had a wonderful birthday and we will definitely return.
There is nothing good I could say about the lunch my group had this past Tuesday . The food portions were very small and not so very good two of our party ordered fish and both had bones in the serving
Interesting we go to multiple restaurants and believe what we received in size and quality we were overcharged & decided we will never Ever go back to the restaurant.
Nanchetta's has become our 'Friday night date' restaurant. Within walking distance we always find the dinners to b fresh, light and prepared to perfection.
The owners always make a point to stop by the tables and chat with customers creating a relaxed homey atmosphere. I've read other reviews claiming the wait for meals is too long. Perhaps those guests are used to FAST food establishments. We both cook so we appreciate the time it takes to prepare fresh food it's worth the wait-have another glass of wine 🍷
We came to Nancetta's for Mother's Day brunch. It took over an hour for our food to be served and then our meals were not served at the same time. The waitress seemed confused about our order. My mother's food was not served as described on the menu. This was corrected by the owner. Two groups of people sitting close to us chose to leave since it was taking so long for their meals to arrive. The food was very good once it did arrive. When our check was presented, it had to be sent back for correction. I really could not understand the delay or the confusion on the part of the waitress since they were not busy at all. Although the food was good, we won't be returning. It's not worth the frustration.
My family and I came here for Easter dinner, and it was nothing short of amazing! Being from a large Italian family, we tend to be on the pickier side when it comes to Italian cuisine, and many places fall short. However, Nancetta's exceeded all expectations. It is truly a hidden gem. Dawn was such an incredibly attentive and knowledgeable server, and the owner was so friendly and accommodating. With their recommendations, we tasted our way through nearly half of the menu, and nothing disappointed. Nancetta's quickly became a favorite, and my family and I are already looking forward to the next visit.
Nancetta's is a very good neighborhood restaurant in Fox Chapel . We had dinner with another couple; all four of us enjoyed our meals . The beet salad , eggplant parmigiana and the salsiccia pasta dish were all great. There was a nice selection of fish dishes too , which two of our party enjoyed .
Nancy and Paul , the owners , have worked hard to make their restaurant a success . Nancy is very good with the customers . Paul manages the kitchen well ; he whipped up a great traditional antipasto for us . The dining room is nicely done . Waitresses are ok . We brought our own wine , and the bill was very reasonable .
Nancetta's was very very good. I almost hate to write a superlative review like this as it will become too crowded and I might have trouble getting a table in the future. If you truly like wonderful food, good service and charming hosts go see Paul and Nancy at Nancetta's.
We dined at Nancetta's for the first time on Saturday evening. After reading mixed reviews online, we decided to give this restaurant a try. We were not disappointed!
Everything was wonderful. Our waitress, Dawn, was very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Throughout the evening the owners stopped by our table to check on how we were enjoying our evening. The food was extremely delicious. Our evening started with prosciutto stuffed dates and mozzarella and sun-dried tomato stuffed risotto balls as our appetizer, followed by delicious homemade bread and dipping oil (which needed to be refilled because we couldn't keep our hands out of the bread basket!). For dinner, my mother-in-law and I had the "ravioli of the day," which was pear and asiago cheese made with homemade pasta dough. I opted to add jumbo lump crab meat to my entree and was not disappointed! My husband ordered chicken parm with homemade pasta and my father-in-law ordered gnocchi with smoked salmon and spinach, both of which were equally delicious. The tiramisu (dessert) was one of the best that I've had in a LONG time! Everyone ordered something different for dessert (chocolate lava cake, caramel gelato , and apple tort) and we spent the end of our evening passing our dishes around and fighting over the final bites.
All-in-all, we had a truly wonderful experience and look forward to dining here again (possibly taking advantage of their outdoor dining space). Our only (very minor) "complaint" would have been that the table we were seated at was a BIT of a tight squeeze and was quickly crowded with wine glasses, plates, dishes, etc. A smidge more elbow room would have been nice, but didn't affect our experience much.
We look forward to trying more new things at Nancetta's!
While the wait staff tried, there were several issues. There were mistakes with every part of our dinner. Further, almost every food item was an issue. We sensed that the issue may have been that we ordered food that may have been too ambitious for this restaurant. Our suggestion - if one decides to go to this restaurant - probably a good idea to stick to simple Italian food - that being simple pasta or pizza.
I was looking for a new to us restaurant and one day just kept scrolling down the OpenTable list and Nancetta's caught my eye. We went and had two great meals. The owner stopped to talk to us and explained that their pastas are made their with imported Italian flour. Our's tasted great being topped with the bolognese sauce. We brought our favorite wine and for a charge, they opened and served it. It was a great evening and we just went back again.
The restaurant has a very good atmosphere and look. The staff was very helpful answering all our questions and giving great recommendations. Which was useful since it was the first time there for our whole party. Recommend it greatly and can't wait to go back!!
My family always enjoys dining at Nanette's. This time we invited two friends. Unfortunately , the experience was not good. It took almost two hours to get our main courses after ordering. We were told by the waiter that our dishes were being plated but they did not appear. We were almost the last people to leave even though we arrived at 7. By the time dinner arrived, we no longer cared or had an appetite. No apologies were given. We may return but our friends will not go back.
This is our second visit to Nancetta's the homemade pasta was excellent, the Gnocchi were light and made for a good appetizer. We did not have any cocktails or wine but they seem to have a good selection. The food was good and obviously made to order. It took a while to get our food, but it was worth the wait for the quality. We will return.
We were there for an early dinner before the Saturday evening dinner crowd so it was relatively quiet. The service was great. The waiter was attentive but not annoying and very knowledgeable about the menu items. The chef/owner was very gracious and made us feel like we were a guest in his home. This was our second visit to Nancetta's and the food selections on both occasions were wonderful. Nancetta's is certainly on our list of favorites.
This is not a restaurant...it is a true "dining experience". It will transport you to Tuscany, to a small local restaurant there....the food made with love. The service was attentive, but not intrusive, allowing you to savor every bite! Nancetta's should be on everyone's "must go" list.
We had an amazing first time experience at Nancetta's!! Can't wait to go back! The food and service was amazing. They even took the time to give us extra details about the menu since it was our first visit. We did not feel rushed to make a quick decision. The tiramisu was nothing short of spectacular and we even talked about how good it was part of the way home!!
Our second time at Nancettas. Wonderful quality food..they warn you in advance that everything is made to order and will take time...well worth the wait. Caesar salad is unique and delicious. Fabulous pasta. These owners do a great job and the wait staff is excellent. If you only want to spend an hour on dinner...go to a chain, not Nancettas!
