Contemporary restaurant , great cuisine with a good selection. , very attentive service, tables for 2 persons a bit close together
Everything about my first visit here was excellent. The atmosphere and service were outstanding. I split a salad and the meat balls With my husband and both were excellent. I had the filet with fingerling potatoes, the steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly! We split the dessert special of strawberry shortcake and that was delicious as well. Nothing to complain about here, everything exceeded expectations.
My daughter wanted to try a high-end steak restaurant for her birthday, and NanaSteak delivered. The steaks were melt-in-your-mouth tender (we each had the filet), the sides would have been worth the price on their own, and the desserts (key lime pie and strawberry shortcake) were beautifully presented and amazing. Dinner for 2 can get pricey, but I knew that going in, and it was all definitely worth it. And now she knows what a Real steak tastes like! I may be in trouble now :)
We went and tried the Sunday brunch which starts at 10:30. My wife had the quiche with salad selection ($12.50), and I had the pancakes, 2 sausage patties, she also had a fresh fruit side ($4), & a mimosa ($10). Our food selections came out together, and were all very good. Hits from the 70's were playing in the background at a moderate level which we enjoyed. We plan to go back again, and will take some friends with us.
The overall experience was awesome. The food was so tender and tasty. The waitress was very attentive. Definitely will be going back.
Great service and the food may not be the best in town but it is certainly worth the price. Well run and so convenience to DPAC.
Good food and good service, I would go back and recommend it to friends
Experience was excellent. Wish it were open for lunch.
Will be back...
Wonderful experience from time entered and greeted by hostess to the time we left. Waiter very good and attentive. Salads, main entrees and dessert all were well time with no long delays. Salads were Caesar and and the Bibb Wedge, both generous proportions and fresh and tasty. Entrees were 8 oz Black Angus Prime Rib with broccolini and pork chop with horseradish cream and Yukon Gold Potato Puree. Both servings were generous, but not overbearing, flavorful and served hot. The steak melted in one's mouth, which is now an expectation when dining here. The potato puree was superb. Dinner was finished with a a different take on a lemon cheesecake -- the crust is on the side. Comes with blueberries and blackberries.
Went to NanaSteak for a very special occasion, and was mildly disappointed. We were so happy; but our waiter was just not interested, and he seems arrogant and defensive. He actually corrected us 4 or 5 times, it seemed. Weird, and definitely not professional customer service. And BTW, we were well dressed and very polite and never got upset. Having had excellent experience here before, we were definitely saddened, and neither of the two steaks we ordered were tender. My salmon was outstanding however; though it is mildly irritating to just receive a piece of fish on a plate with no garnish! Anyway as the prices are so high, we probably won't be going back any time soon.
Nolan is a excellent server. I'll be back - just to have him wait on me.
On a graduation weekend, the entire vibe in the restaurant was great - energetic and fun. The wait staff took excellent care of us and treated us with individuality tho NanaSteak was full and demanding. It was appreciated! Tasty food, as always. A family favorite for special occasions!
Duke Law graduation
service was great. Food was at the top end; sides were a little disappointing. Wine was a great selection at reasonable price.
I booked the reservation way in advance so that I could take my mom to dinner before seeing Beautiful at DPAC. We arrived on time for our 6:00 reservation. It took longer than expected to get our food ... I’m sure the kitchen was slammed, but they should be used to the routine on show nights. I would’ve given a 5 Star on food, except that my steak was over cooked. We were pressed for time so no time for a do-over, nor any option for dessert due to long wait on the entrees. The restaurant comped a small order of fries & the horseradish cream topper to compensate.
I’ll give them another shot when not under a 75 minute time limit.
Not nearly as good this visit. NY Strip was a bit dry and tough. Pork rib appetizer was mostly delicious, but had a couple of foul tasting bites. Breads and potatoes were wonderful! Service was adequate.
One of the best dining experiences to date! Our waiter, Seth, was outstanding. He knew the menu from top to bottom, and his recommendations were individualized to each person at the table. Would highly recommend - and big thank you to Seth for being so wonderful!
Very nice place, the food was very good, but compared to other places as similar price points, it was not up to the same standard. My boyfriend is pescatarian, so he can’t eat meat or meat products aside from fish and shellfish, and we mentioned this to out waiter and he was very accommodating and kind. Do be cautious, that their steak fries are poached in Wagyu beef fat before being cooked and served. I’m sure they would have been great, but unfortunately it is not obvious on the menu so caution should be taken for those who don’t eat meat.
NanaSteak is a lovely restaurant. We had a very mixed experience. We were seated as requested in a quiet section of the restaurant. Service was friendly, helpful and courteous.
2 of us ordered the prime rib which was cooked perfectly but too salty. Unfortunately that’s all we could taste. The other two meals, the salmon and strip steak, were excellent.
Our plates were cleared after each course before everyone had finished! That made the meal feel rushed.
Best steak and sides in Durham
I always enjoy NanaSteak. They have wonderful service. My food was okay, usually it’s great so it was just my selection. Should have stuck with a steak. The vegetable dish was lukewarm. My companions meals were very good.
I have dine at this restaurant many times. However, the table for 2 was in a tight spot right next to the servers work station which was very noisy. The table was so small that it was difficult to order many things off the menu at one time. The food was cool including the appetizer. I had to send my steak back because it wasn’t prepared as ordered. The waiter was not as accommodating. I have had excellent service in the past, however this experience was not favorable.
Our dining experience was excellent. Great food & our server Justin paid attention to every detail.😊😊
Dining at NanaSteak was a wonderful experience. It was my boyfriend's birthday and I had been asked while making my reservation if this was a special occasion, so I selected "birthday". After our incredible meal (Black Angus Rib Eye with the Yukon Gold Potato Puree and Black Angus NY Strip with the Roasted Brussels Sprouts & Bacon), our waiter brought out a complimentary lemon square for the birthday-it was very thoughtful. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Very good food and Very good atmosphere.
Delicious meal, very kind and attentive wait staff.
A little spendy but the service and the food were excellent. It was a nice and close to DPAC to have dinner before the concert.
A little disappointed with the hype of this place. The food was subpar. Our waiter was a bit rude. My husband has serious dietary restrictions from a disease he has that almost killed him and our waiter muttered “kinda in a hurry here so” when my husband was ordering. Rude. Asked the waiter to bring me something and never brought it. Another member of our party watched another waiter with his apron on in the men’s room, use the bathroom, walk over to the sink and pretend to wash his hands by doing the motions. Never even turned on the water. And then walked away sneezing into his hands. Disgusting! Truly disappointed about this place. We had heard such good things. We will stick to our favorite steak place Ruth’s Chris.
We had a wonderful time and the food was great. The service was perfect. Gave plenty of time to look over the menu and promptly brought drinks and bread after we ordered drinks. We opted to skip appetizers and went straight for the main meal. The waiter described the dishes carefully when questioned. I decided on the filet and brussel sprouts with bacon. I did not give five for food because I thought the brussel sprouts were toasted a little to much but that was my opinion they had wonderful flavor and were not burnt just darker than I like. My steak was a perfect medium with fabulous flavor. For dessert we ordered the strawberry rhubarb tart. It was not as good as my grandma’s but it comes in a close second. Our overall experience was great and we paid less than we did at Angus Barn or Sullivan’s.
Amazing meal before the show at DPAC. Service was top notch and the food was delicious.
Celebrated a birthday everything was fabulous!
NanaSteak is a first-class restaurant. It's our go -to before we see a DPAC play. I highly recommend it!
My husband and I enjoyed a nice dinner on Easter after attending a play at DPAC. The steak was delicious. The mac n' cheese awesome! The muscles were amazing! Our dining neighbors highly recommended the risotto so that's something to try next time. We were pretty close to our dining neighbors, so if you're looking for private conversation, you'll need to request a more secluded table. The ambiance was more casual than I expected, but we enjoyed ourselves. I was also surprised that they didn't have a specific Easter dinner offering. The server was good, the water/bread server very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed our dinner. We also enjoyed our cocktails. Thanks!
Great Eater brunch
This was my first time at Nana Steak for brunch. Overall I do love those guys, but the food was just ok. Had to send 2 of our dishes back to the kitchen for over-cooked eggs and the 'crispy' potato pancake was extremely crispy to the point that the server had to bring a steak knife, saying, 'sometimes a sharper knife is better'. The Bloody Mary's were excellent.
I would go back for another try but if the experience is the same I'll likely make reservations elsewhere.
Recommend reservations as stated on their web site to prevent waiting on line for a table. We were seated immediately with no wait, our wait staff were very knowledgeable, professional and extremely efficient.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will return again very soon.
I ordered the Strawberry Rhubarb tart thinking it would have fresh strawberries since strawberries are in season. The tart was made with frozen strawberries and decorated with frozen strawberries. It was very disappointing and not up to NanaSteak's standards.
Anniversary dinner; first time here since recently moving to NC. Everything was perfect. Great wait staff, excellent food: the bowl of mussels was exceptional. No complaints, will definitely be back many times.
Family dinner then off to DPAC.
