Excellent steak house in Durham close to the Durham Performing Arts Center. Very attentive service and excellent and tasty food with well sized portions.
Our meal was fantastic. Two of us had a filet and one had a ribeye. They were all cooked perfectly. The sides were wonderful, too. We had expresso martinis and dirty martinis, which were all fabulous. We will definitely return soon. We made a reservation for 5:30 to eat before the 7pm play at DPAC. The food did take a while to come out, and we only had about 5 minutes to share. Next time I will get a reservation for 5, instead. Thank you, Nana Steak. The food and service were fantastic!
Another amazing dinner!!
Great dinner, especially the steak & fries!
We had an excellent dinner and the service was great!
NanaSteak is our go-to for special occasions - not just before a visit to DPAC. Stopped in to celebrate our anniversary and, as usual, was not disappointed - great service, delicious food, welcoming atmosphere. Definitely recommend! Consistently the best filet in the area - would absolutely recommend NS over any other steakhouse in the area, including Angus Barn
Food was amazing and the service was perfect. Can’t wait to go back!!
On time reservations pre DPAC show. No rush. Super attentive. Able to pick up dessert after event ( they kept in cooler).
Our evening was very nice. From the free parking to the extra treat for our anniversary at the end it was a very nice evening. Wait staff was very pleasant and helpful.
Wow I would recommend Nanas for dinner especially if we were going to DPAC I do have some problems with the price of the food.
You also have not basically changed the menu in the last three years.
During our long weekend in town we chose to have dinner here 2 of our 3 nights! Our waiters were wonderful and food was spot on!
Excellent food and service!
As always, fabulous food and attentive service! Dinner after DPAC at NanaSteak is always a treat.
We have eaten here a number of times before DPAC shows, but this was our first time in for brunch. As usual, the service was truly outstanding, as was the ambiance. My meal however, which was described as a short rib and sweet potato hash, was not very good. It was more of a stew with chunks of short rib meat that were neither tender nor flavorful, and some slices of small sweet potatoes. Perhaps this was the chef's attempt to put a new spin on a simple yet delicious breakfast dish, but it missed the mark.
I had wanted to try brunch at NanaSteak for a while. It was lovely: good food, great service. Love Brad & Graham's hospitality. Going back soon, I hope.
Great way to start off if you are going to see a show at the DPAC. The waiter recommended the NY strip which I was surprised because every restaurant I gone to the waiter would recommend the ribeye. I’m glad I chose the NY strip, it was tender, cooked to perfection which was medium and it was juicy. The macaroni and cheese was decent and I love the cornbread. I will definitely go again.
Excellent as always
As always the food was wonderful. Couldn’t decide between the eggs Benedict and shrimp and grits. I asked the waiter his suggestion and he recommended the shrimp and grits. He was right. Really really good.
We had a delicious dinner prior to an event at DPAC.
They service was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient as always even with a packed restaurant.
Service was friendly and accommodating! Food was delicious as always.
Food was very good, waiter was very inattentive to our table though. Checked in once during the meal (at the end), odd since he was chatting up other tables the whole night.
My steak had lots of gristle
This was my frist time dining at Nanasteak. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience. I was disappointed in the quality of the New York strip. The meat contained a lot of fat and was tough. I ordered it medium rare so it was not over cooked it was the meat quality. Everything else was outstanding. I will be back, we all have a bad night occasionally.
Not sure what the problem is on "show" nights. My steak was a NY Strip and came out still fozen. Really? WTF. Medium rare is not Frozen. We were so late for the show........I couldn't care anymore.
BOTTOM LINE: Order apps in the bar ONLY before a show at DPAC...otherwise...a REALLY BAD expeirence. This restaurant is a joke.
Staff was excellent!
Over all great service and varied menu items. We went for a birthday celebration. The only negative thing about the foid was the prime rib. Two of us ordered the 8 oz. portion. It wad cooked to our order but the meat had lots of gristle and we could only eat a few bites. I am a lover of prime rib but the quality of this poor. The wait staff offered to bring another but we declined.
Great service, nice atmosphere, nice location. Really good meal!
One of the best venues in the triangle for a date night or entertaining clients , NS never disappoints !
The service was excellent! Our waitress was very friendly! We sat in the back room, and unfortunately there was a couple there with a small crying child. We were going to move, since we couldn’t enjoy a nice quiet dinner with a crying child, and the parents weren’t doing anything to help. But they left quickly after they paid there bill. The food was delicious!
The food was delicious! I had the prime rib and it was the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was cool and it was quiet enough to talk. The service was excellent.
I enjoyed the heirloom tomatoes salad the addition of the fried okra blew my mind. It was sooo amazing. I also devoured the warm upside down peach cake.
Excellent steak and delicious burnside sauce! We loved it.
The service and atmosphere were amazing--what a great space with amazing staff. Truly outstanding service. Exactly what we hoped for and expected. Service is always excellent at Scott Howell's establishments and it is a testament to their sincere commitment to what they do. Above and beyond. Our dinner was overall excellent: our cocktails, the foccacia and the cilantro cornbread served as starters, the heirloom tomato/fresh corn salad was outstanding, as was the gnocchi, the prime rib, the pureed yukons, the fries, and the desserts. Unfortunately one steak was chewy and not as tasty as would be expected based on cost and everything else we were eating, and the shrimp and fish in the bouillabaisse were overcooked, like they'd been simmering too long. The broth of the bouillabaisse was fantastic, however, as was the accompanying bread. Would definitely recommend the experience.
Was super excited about trying this for a special ocassion. The special of the day was a sirloin burger, which I was eager to try. Unfortunately, it was grossly overcooked and under seasoned. It was garnished nicely and the fries went well with it. My husbands steak was beautifully cooked, but under seasoned as well. Hi mac and cheese came in a cute dutch oven and tasted decent. Our waiter was very kind and attentive, as was other wait staff. We enjoyed the touch of tobacco leaves for decor.
Went to celebrate anniversary. Great appetizers. Wine list is excellent with some hidden bargains. Steak was good; ribeye better than prime rib. Dessert outstanding! Great place for special occasion dining. Service was perfectly balanced, not too much or too little.
We had dinner for four Saturday night. Our reservation was right on time. While the food was good the service was exceptional. Our waiter Adam went above and beyond!!
The service was exceptional. Each staff member that attended to us in some way was very personable. All of the food (including our dessert) tasted fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a nice dinner out.
Great as usual!
One of our favorite places, until this last visit when the blew it with 80s disco-style music played just high enough to creep into intrusive. Also, they changed their brunch short ribs, which had been a favorite. We'll give it another try ... the bar maybe.
Just about perfect.
