Nana's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
One of the best overall experiences I have had. Nice varied menu with choices of beef, lamb, chicken, fish. Many restaurants claim preparation of fish or steak their expertise. Everything at the table was perfect from seafood risotto to sword fish to lamb chops to chicken. There were no misses. Party of three. Everyone was beyond satisfied.
I have been to both Nanas' Steak House and here at Nanas' Restaurant. The restaurant provides the very best service from a very talented and friendly staff, an inventive menu and a superb wine list and an ambience that is warm and inviting.
One of my favorite culinary locations in the US.
Special kudos to Anthony (bar mixologist) and Neal (sommelier) for their expertise and knowledge.
They make everyone feel important from the locals to a first time guest.
The very best in dining options.
Nana’s Consistently delivers an excellent meal coupled with top notch knowledgeable service. Love it when the server actually really knows the menu and the wines, on top of being efficient and delightful. This occasion was a special birthday and the restaurant staff went out of their way to attend to every detail, including special requests.
The ambience is quite nice, service is good and servers not overwhelming you with questions about how's the food, we order the duck, I was expecting the duck to be a bit more crispy; the mahi was really good and tasty the grouper unfortunately was raw and not tasty, had to send it back to the kitchen. The dessert was fantastic, we had crème brulee. The girl who was serving bread, quite friendly; our server not so much.
We have been to Nana's many times and are never disappointed either in the service or the food. They seem willing to accommodate dietary issues and will adjust preparation of dishes when possible, without destroying the original intentions of the dish.
Plus, the good art on the walls helps to provide a sense of comfort and elegance without resounding noise, all of which contribute to the makings of a perfect evening out.
Nana's still one of the premiere restaurants in the Triangle. It has been in business for 20+ years and still has the same quality dining and ambiance that it's always had. Scott Howell is a legend in the local restaurant scene. Our meal was fantastic as was the knowledge of the wait staff and the recommendations they made. We are very fortunate to still have Nana's, Scott Howell and his team serving the highest quality dining in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill.
Great menu which offers unique dishes. An excellent wine list is offered along with good by-the-glass selections. Our table started with the mussels apt which was presented in a flavorful spicy sauce. My three dining partners all had the salmon which was cooked perfectly. I had the pork shank which was incredible. I finished my dinner with the chocolate bread pudding which was topped with a scoop of coffee ice cream. This was my first visit to Nana’s, but it will not be my last.
Nana's is an all-time favorite of ours, been coming here for several years when we lived out of town. Now that we've moved to Durham, it was the first place we had dinner after the moving truck left our house and is a go-to for a nice meal for the two of us, to celebrate with friends and where we introduce our family to Durham when visiting.
We went to nanas for our anniversary. The atmosphere is great since this is not a chain but a privately owned restaurant. It doesn’t look like your typical fine dining restaurant but the service is definitely upscale. I love the combination of that. The food is absolutely amazing and fresh. I’m a vegetarian and was accommodated with great options as well !
The food was excellent, but high priced. The ratio between quality and cost was therefore not favorable. The restaurant is small enough that it went from intimate to crowded. Parking was either valet or in a distant parking lot or on an adjacent side street (which is the best option. The limited menu was not a problem, because what they had was off the charts good.
My husband and I drove from Greensboro to meet my parents at Nana's for my 50th birthday. The entire experience was fabulous. The food was delicious and one of the best meals I have had in a while. Portion sizes were very generous for a fine dining restaurant which makes it a much better value even than most other fine dining establishments. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the various dishes and wine selection. I have already told several of my foodie friends that Nana's is worth the hour drive from Greensboro! The risotto first course is amazing and more than enough to share for a table of 4. Between the table we had the halibut, Wahoo, Chicken and Venison Loin and they were all exceptional. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants great service and delicious food.
Nana's is a landmark and is excellent. I've dined there many times and each time has been superb. The menu selections change often, but there are the staples that are customer favorites for years. The wine list is good, many wines you don't often see at other places. Our waiter was fantastic! The place gets very crowded, so reservations are a must. Parking is also very tight, so valet or try to find a spot on the adjacent side street. Always looking for a reason to get back to Nana's!
