Nana's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Waiter for our table was friendly and knew about the menu. Food was exceptionally good. My wife had the Duck and I had Monkfish. Both were done to perfection. The ambiance is sedate and conducive to conversation - something missing from other restaurants with otherwise equally commendable amenities. We don't usually spend that much dining out, but for the quality of food, and for special occasions, Nana's is more than worth it.
Nana’s never disappoints. Another great meal, looking forward to coming back soon and having the tasting menu. We went in the night before Valentine’s Day and had an excellent meal of soup and pasta to start and lamb and fish for entrees. All excellent. Desserts and service every bit as good too!
Ordered a cocktail before I ordered food. The waiter never brought it until after the meal showed up. The food was not very tasty to warrant the pricing... in my opinion.
I ordered steak & it was very good. My husband ordered chicken & he said it was just ok.
Nothing special although a lot of my colleagues rave about this place.
Our meal was literally one of the best meals I have ever had at a restaurant. We went there for our anniversary, and the special meal was fit fir the special occasion. The duck over lentils with a cranberry balsamic was crispy on the outside, and tender. The pork chop was at least 1 inch think, and so tender. They use First Hand meats, and it is definitely worth the extra cost. The chef was flexible with changing out the sides too, if there was a food you didn't enjoy.
No heat! We were put in another room where we were told the heat was fine but it too was cold. My wife kept wrapped up the entire meal. The ambiance was decidedly poor despite apologies from an excellent wait staff. Restaurant should have told us there was no heat when they called to confirm reservation that afternoon. A very disappointing experience at a restaurant I frequent with out of town guests and on celebratory occasions such as this one.
Even though it was a nice meal when booking with open table I said it was a birthday celebration, upon arrival till the end not one reference to a Birthday celebration , very said since it was my husbands birthday ...not sure where or who did not read the request
We ordered the tasting menu with the wine pairing; it was simply one of the best meals AND one of the best dining experiences we've ever had! The food and wine were just spectacular, and the service was professional and friendly at the same time. Just a great experience in every way; it was an expensive meal, and well worth it for a special occasion.
We were there for my wife's birthday. The food (venison for myself and duck for my wife) were prepared well and had perfect flavor with great sauces, even though my wife's had to be warmed just a bit. Our waiter did not skip a beat and was there whenever we needed his help. We have been here several times now and have always come away happy and promising to return.
My wife and I have always enjoyed Nana's for special occasions. Our daughter and son-in-law were visiting so we wanted them to enjoy the best dining in Durham. It didn't happen. While we are dealing in subtleties, the food was just not as good this visit as it has been in the past. The soup was advertised as 'hearty,' but it was certainly not. The fish was overcooked. What really shocked us was that in its most recent health inspection, Nana's received a 92.0, including three repeat offenses. Technically an 'A,' but not the standard for this caliber of restaurant and these dear prices. The saving grace was the ambience and wait staff. Fortunately Durham has many new great restaurants so Nana's will not be able to rest on its laurels.
One of the best overall experiences I have had. Nice varied menu with choices of beef, lamb, chicken, fish. Many restaurants claim preparation of fish or steak their expertise. Everything at the table was perfect from seafood risotto to sword fish to lamb chops to chicken. There were no misses. Party of three. Everyone was beyond satisfied.
I have been to both Nanas' Steak House and here at Nanas' Restaurant. The restaurant provides the very best service from a very talented and friendly staff, an inventive menu and a superb wine list and an ambience that is warm and inviting.
One of my favorite culinary locations in the US.
Special kudos to Anthony (bar mixologist) and Neal (sommelier) for their expertise and knowledge.
They make everyone feel important from the locals to a first time guest.
The very best in dining options.
Nana’s Consistently delivers an excellent meal coupled with top notch knowledgeable service. Love it when the server actually really knows the menu and the wines, on top of being efficient and delightful. This occasion was a special birthday and the restaurant staff went out of their way to attend to every detail, including special requests.
