Four of us went to the restaurant mid-week and had a really good meal. I had heard some mixed reports of this restaurant, both in terms of food and service, but both were first-rate. (I don't know if that would have been different had we tried it on a crowded night.) We sat outside on the terrace, which is lovely, and by the time we left the place was maybe a quarter full. The best part was that you could actually have a conversation, but on a very busy night, I'd guess it would be very loud, especially inside the restaurant, which is a pretty but small space with a large bar. The fish was fresh and well-prepared and the classic Greek salad (horiatiki) was delicious -- true Greek and not the Americanized version. It is, however, quite pricey, even by Hamptons standards, (fish running about $40 or more a pound and apps/salads in the $15 to $30 range), so plan for that. But if the service and quality of food and presentation is consistent, it's a great choice for a special occasion or for those for whom price doesn't matter.
Food was fair
Very nice place with a great terrace in Southampton. The food is really good especially the octopus and the fishes to share.
Lovely spot that's new in SH. Great choices on the all-Greek menu!! Nice regional wine list offering a couple of good Greek whites.
Food was delicious-very authentic preparation and artfully presented. Service was really good. As we wee about to sit, our waiter noticed that the table cloth had a barely predictable spot on it. He immediately replaced with fresh crispy linens!! Nice move.
Recommend for those that like well prepared food, love seafood and imaginative salads and want to recall that special time spent in the Aegean!!
Dined at Nammos Monday night. Being a week night at 7 pm it was not crowded. That said, we were able to choose our outdoor table location. The weather was divine and sitting outside was most enjoyable. We were greeted by our server Daisy who was a delightful and time explaining the menu and the wine offerings. The food was delicious. We had grilled octopus and fried eggplant and zucchini chips as starters. Our mains Chicken Shish Ka Bob and Chilean Sea Bass. The service great. Looking forward to returning!
They serve whole fish only, except for one sea bass fillet. There isn't one appetizer under $14.00. Go with a very fat wallet. The spanakopita was excellent though.
Service was excellent, but then we were the only couple there for most of the meal.
Always a treat. Love the food, wine and ouzo. New double cut pork chop way outrageous.
While celebrating America's independence on the night before Greece's economic civil vote against austerity, why not try Namos. Overall my expectations were high and unmet. We ordered a few plates I hoped would bring me back to Greece. Instead, we tasted other parts of the worlds variations. Saganaki shouldn't be fried cheese sticks, octopus should be charred and not soft and saucy, finally menu priced shouldn't be as over priced for what you can get in NYC at least 1/3 less. I loved our waiter and atmosphere was nice. I wish prices lined up to give better expectations of the food delivery.
I recommend this Greek restaurant to everyone and a must go to when you're staying in the hamptons! Great service, fresh and delicious seafood! Don't forget to pair with your favorite wine!
Food was vey good and very good portions. The waitress messed up my order at first but they quickly brought out what I actually ordered. It's a good scene in Southampton and the bar is cool. Gets noisy when busy.
Greek restaurants are often known for their treatment of whole fish, but we found Nammo's exceptional. We dined offseason on a Friday and the restaurant wasn't busy. The lovely, open beam dining room can bounce sound, though, so the music was too loud for the few diners in house, but was cheerfully turned down when we asked. The service was excellent, very responsive, very helpful and knowledgable, guiding us through appetizer and (Greek) wine choices. One our party had the local flounder special, while another two split the striped bass. The latter was beautifully deboned and served tableside. Two of our party loved their lamb chops. Appetizers were tasty and filling!
The place was pretty quiet for a Saturday night so I was worried the food would be bad. The night ended up perfectly- great food and great wine choices. I'll be back.
Kept me waiting for 40 minutes for a table with open table reservation! Food was awful, fish tasted frozen! Forget this place. Greek
Terrible service! Will never go back! The restaurant was not busy and we had to constantly ask for our drinks and dinner orders.
There was four of us dining on a Saturday evening. I thought it was ridiculous that the waiter brought 2/4 drinks and didn't bring the other two for 25 minutes. The bread came out with our entrees, even though all of the other tables were given bread when they sat down. There was an extremely obnoxious table behind us, drunkenly screaming and cursing over one another, and no one came over to let them know they were being disruptive. All that aside, the calamari, scallops, steak, and mussels were all delicious. We went over to the bar/lounge after, which was nice, except for the service (yet again). There was barely anyone at the bar and the bartender kept disappearing for 5-10 minutes at a time, WITH PEOPLE's CREDIT CARDS!
Although we were the only clients in the restaurant, service was slow. Had to repeat or requests. Had to ask to turn on air conditioning. Food was du and over cooked. Price was to high.
Enjoyed saganaki with watermelon and chicken. Enjoyed great service twice this summer.
We ate soup to nuts here... Everything was amazing... Started with octopus, which was tender and flavorful, and the spreads with pita bread... Outstanding!
Then we split some tiger shrimp, which were huge, and mouth watering...
Our server made us Greek coffee and the Greek yogurt spoonfuls for dessert... Again they were amazing...
My only complaint, if I have to have one... Is that their Greek wine selection is just mediocre...
had the WORST meal here sunday night. we were literally there only table there which was so awkward. we have 5 people serving us which was overwhelming. i took a friend there who had never been and i was so embarrassed. worst part was the food was terrible. the baby lamb for $39 "which the chef recommends medium rare" was about as well done as the tire of my car. the octopus was hard and also equally terrible. i will never return.
Spectacularly large tiger shrimp very rarely found anywhere and cooked perfectly.
It started well with a great service, but the loud music spoiled the dinner. We were 8 people screaming to talk and have a conversation. For someone approaching the restaurant would think that it was a night club. But the crowd inside the restaurant seemed to care about the dinner and the food. We complained about the volume but nobody changed it. There was not a single person dancing. I will not go back.
This place is NO bargain, and the food is overpriced. My 44 dollar fish dinner came out FROZEN in the middle! Had to be sent back, and I was so nauseous I couldn't eat another thing! The manager was not helpful, and the rest of the dinners were just OK. They were not child friendly in the least either! I would not recommend this restaurant.
Food expensive and not worth it. Service terrible. Would not go again.
Nammos is beautiful, modern and clean with an elegant atmosphere. I was there with a friend to catch up and enjoy a good meal on Friday night. The food was outstanding and everything we ordered was for the table to share. We started with the Greek salad and Nammos special (eggplant & zucchini), which is worth every calorie. For our entree we had lavraki, which was prepared perfectly, and an order of the vegetables medley and lemon potatoes. We split a very tasty Crispy Opera for dessert; the cream filling and strawberries were so refreshing!
Throughout the night the service was prompt, courteous and friendly.
It was an enjoyable evening out and one that we will do again.
Nammos is one of my Hampton favorites... but his past weekend it was off. I know it's the beginning of the season... but the food is usually so much better. And everyone at my table thought the same. Hopefully it was just an off night.
This restaurant is deceptive and extremely over priced. I found the menu online to be affordable and appropriate for my family but when I arrived at the restaurant, the prices were almost double the amount that the menu stated. Because it is impossible to get a reservation for a large party in Southampton, we stayed and continued to be disappointed. The portions were minuscule for the ridiculously high prices and the options were dismal. The waiters kept opening bottles of water that we did not ask for, continuing to increase the already expensive bill. When all of our issues with this manipulative restaurant were brought to the manager's attention, we were dismissed and ignored. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Nammos succeeds several pretentious and overpriced ventures in the historic Post House building. It is a joy to be there, in a warmly lit room with two handsome gas fireplaces and a pretty popular bar. It hasn't been discovered yet, so try it this winter. You'll find Emilio, the host, exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the service staff is kind and attentive. If tiger prawns are on the menu, get them - - you'll think you're in Greece or Italy.
Tasty food, beautifully presented.
With the two high-flying prior occupants gone (Club Collette and then Nello), the lovely old Post House is once again an accessible and affordable place. The theme is Greek, but it is not overplayed, and the menu is really only around half filled with the kinds of Greek specialties (spanakopita, kebabs, simple grilled fish) that one expects. A mushroom pasta was outstanding, but so was a grilled double pork chop the size of a fist. The room is very attractive (2 fireplaces, well-spaced tables, white table cloths), and the host (Emilio) very genial and solicitous of his customers' comfort. It's not the old Post House, but it's a worthy successor
We were a party of 6, service was attentive, food was excellent.
We sat for 1/2 hour with drinks that we had ordered from the bar. No waitress or waiter came over. When we told the gal at the front door that - she sent over a waiter who apologized that they were under staffed and had just started their "off season". We waited another 10 minutes and left. This was a Saturday night. We think they should close for the "off season"!
My husband and I have only the best things to say about Emilio and Andrea. Emilio runs Nammos Estiatorio and Andrea, his cousin, served us. We came in thinking we would have a quick bite... and left 4 hours later, smiling ear to ear, having had one of the best cocktails we ever tried. Going out to the Hamptons during the low season was already a treat - spending a great evening at Nammos made it a memorable experience. GREAT place!
Service was off (slow). Attitude off. Food horrible. Owner was very nice and apologetic. Hoping it was a one off.
Food was very good. Restaurant wasn't crowded at all for a Saturday night in Southampton which is oddespecia.ly on a summer weekend . i think the reason is food cost. It's just too expensive..even for the Hamptons . Street noise wasn't so great either.
Ambience was nice especially outdoors. Food was good. The fish was very well prepared and fresh. But over all this place is way too pricey. Watch how much water they give you. Who knew that you would pay $12/bottle for bottled water.
Food and service was very good . It may of been an off night , as it was unusually quiet for a Thrusday evening of Labor day weekend.
Other than a little confusion at the check in (they seated us when we arrived and then never told our dinner companions we were there) this was a perfect evening. The weather enabled us to eat outside and enjoy the just-right temperature. Our waiter, George, paid just the right amount of attention to us and never interrupted conversation. We had a table of food sharers and had a wide range of tasing ..... all of it excellent.
I loved names first time - a 4 course pix fix for 30.00. The next time, it changed to a 3 course for 35.00. When I went back for third time this season on a Thursday night I was disappointed to find they no longer offered pix fix and prices were extremely overpriced. It was too late to leave as we were already seated. 49.00 for Chilean sea bass!, not worth it and I felt cheated. Too bad, they had a lot of promise . Need to find a middle ground.
I always enjoy dinner at Nammos with friends. Food is great and the space is perfect. The staff does a great job.
Pretty good food. Traditional Greek selections plus whole fish specialty entrees. The wine list is not bad, from Greek and other European to West coast choices, but surprisingly lacking local wines. No real complaints other than the fact that our table was approached by nine different people asking the same question - "Is everything OK?". Funny at first, a little annoying towards the end... And they "ran out of Greek coffee".
