Nami - Providence Ratings and Reviews
we were a large business party of 14, there following a long convention weekend, and Nami was exceptional!! We had several food allergies/sensitivities to accommodate (shrimp, dairy, gluten, high salt) and we had absolutely NO TROUBLES! Kudos to the chef and the staff.
We were there for a 7:45pm Sunday reservation, the service was impeccable; Friendly, observant, responsive... Everyone at dinner commented on the quality of the food and drinks, we were very pleased. The hand crafted signature cocktails were wonderful, great quality saki as well...
I have already recommended Nami to relatives, and we will certainly go back for future business meetings. This restaurant is a GEM.
Terrific sushi, fresh and inventive options. Perfect, light rice--and not too much of it--on rolls. Beautiful presentation, attentive service and comfy banquettes throughout the restaurant. Excellent, well-priced sake list, as well as other drinks. We didn't get one but the enormous scorpion bowls are clearly very popular!
We moved to Providence from L.A. and had a hard time finding sushi that was up to our snobbish standards until we went to Nami. It's been our go-to place ever since. The sushi and rolls are outstanding. We had family in from San Diego and took them to Nami and they said it was just as good as any sushi place in San Diego. Check out the happy hour menu, too. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Excellent food and service during restaurant week. Attentive and extremely pleasant server, I wish I remembered his name! We ate outside and since it's on busy federal hill by a main intersection there were moments with significant traffic noise. I would absolutely recommend this to friends, but suggest an indoor seat.
First time dining at Nami and was very impressed. Had two of the specialty rolls (Tuxedo and Heartbreaker) which were both delicious. Great quality sushi! Had the pork belly sliders to start and some mochi ice cream for dessert. Had the sake mojito which was very interesting and good. Service was very attentive and friendly (thank you Louis!). Will definitely be back. It was a wonderful evening on the Hill. 5 stars!
Everything was delicious but the server was clearly new to the restaurant if not being a server in general. He didn't know the specials and struggled with opening a bottle a wine, things normally that don't bother me that were very apparent. The food was really good!
Nami is a standard Japanese sushi restaurant with the usual plates and typical atmosphere. It's good, and the portion size was quite large ... especially the tempura dishes. I found the fish quality to be good although nothing notable. If you're looking for a solid sushi place, Nami will give you exactly that experience.
This was remarkably delicious sushi but the environment was just not for me. If you are under 30 and into the night club scene, this may be the perfect place for you. But the music was way too loud (and way too poppy!) for me at this point in my life (I'm only 35!) If I am going to be spending $100+ on dinner and drinks, I want to be enjoying the ambiance. It will be takeout for me next time! Worth going back for the good quality fish, but I dont' think I'd want to sit around for a late dinner on a Saturday night again.
I made a reservation using Open Table for a party of 5. We arrived more than 5 minutes early for our 7:45 reservation, but we were not seated until 8:30. Needless to say, I was not thrilled with the wait given the fact that I had a reservation. However, the restaurant is beautiful and the food and drinks are delicious. Hoping the incident was a rare mishap.
Loved this spot! Everything was fantastic from the food (taste, decor, portion size), the service, the atmosphere, and the complimentary valet parking. I highly recommend this spot for dates, groups, and drinks/apps with friends. I've been on a sushi kick since I ate here!
The waiter was nice but inexperienced. He kept coming back to ask questions he was supposed to ask when he took our order. When the king crab legs came we questioned the portion size. The manager, Wendy, was one of the worst managers I have ever encountered. She was rude and took my food off the table and said "If you don't want it you don't have to eat it," while staring at me like I was bothering her. She had no compassion for a guest who was not satisfied and had no people skills or problem solving abilities. It's really unfortunate because there are a few sushi/hibachi style restaurants in the area and this type of service should not tolerated. Better food and superior service is right around the corner at Mt Fuji or Haruki on the east side. Don't waste your time and money on Nami!!!
