Fabulous restaurant, yummy food, attentive and friendly staff. Friend had hibachi where I had sushi.
Resturant was busy, but did an excellent job of managing the volume of business. Staff was very friendly. Chef was outstanding
Our server who I am pretty sure was rude to me and my parents because she thought we had coronavirus, didnt bring our party water until way after and only because we asked. The chef was super nice and we enjoyed our meal. Then she took our drinks before we even finished them and furiously tidied up around us. Who does that?¿ The auDACity.
Our server didn’t put in our appetizers and drinks until after we got our soup and salad. We didn’t get our drinks until halfway through our meal. He then only came to check on us one additional time (still no appetizer) and then it took him an easy half hour to bring the check. We refused to pay for the appetizers (which were brought AFTER we finished eating) and he added an automatic 18% gratuity to our check even though there was only two of us!! The chef didn’t do any of the fun hibachi things. He simply asked if we were from around the area. One girl at our table was there for her birthday and they didn’t do any birthday stuff for her. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

I’ve been coming to Nakama for years. And never had an experience like I did on Friday evening. I had reservations for 9:30 for a party of 6, we got seated pretty quickly. The problems started when the waitress, didn’t know what alcohol was in stock or not, she was very slow and not sure what to do is what I was guessing. The place closes at 11 and people were walking in after us and got served before us which made no sense to me.

We had reserved the table for 7 PM using open table. We arrived and the restaurant treated us like we were walk ins. The service was poor due to a server that had some sort of an attitude. He served all but one beverage and I asked if he may have forgotten about it. He replied "Its still at the Bar" and that took about 10 minutes for the beverage to arrive at our table. Then we made our order. I ordered a sushi appetizer with my meal and that came well after the main entree was served. I actually had to get up and find him and asked him about the appetizer he replied (with an attitude) it's at the bar. When I finally the appetizer, it wasn't very appetizing. Then came the check. I was charged almost $20 in gratuity. When I asked him about it he said that it doesn't matter how mny people are in the party, they charge gratuity. I said to him, because of the service he provided, he didn't deserve that much and he actually said that I had an attitude. I then asked for the Manager and he removed the gratuity and apologized for the server's lack of customer service. I've been at this restaurant before and the food and service was outstanding. Not this time.....Oh, shout out to the Valet for providing excellent customer service. He did his thing and it was cold and raining out. Needless to say, this will be my last visit to the restaurant.
I forgot how good the sushi is at Nakama! Worth the trip!
Drink order was incorrect, appetizer came after the main meal was served, and not one person said “Happy Birthday” to my gf, even though I made reservations days before explicitly saying that is our reason for dining with them as well as giving them the “birthday coupon” we got in the mail because of her bday.
Even with all of that, I can’t deny that some food items (Haiku Sushi Rolls) are worth returning for, I just won’t be coming back for future celebrations.
Food was great. We were sitting for nearly an hour before service (for whatever reason) but we would go back. Very enjoyable
hostess sat us, didn’t check us into our open table reservation. after 20 minutes of waiting, I stopped someone and asked for a waiter so we could at least get drinks. once we ordered our drinks it was about 10 minutes until the food started for me, our chef was excellent and food was great!
We went there for Valentines Day with some of our friends and had a blast! The food and service were great! And it’s so close to other bars if you wanted to go out after! We loved it!

Service was a little slow especially in our ijitial drink order.
A party of 30 was sat right before us in the private dining room. When they sat us they put us right by the door and it was drafty and cold. We were the only ones there except the party of 30. Then two other tables were sat after us farther into the dining room. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks then another 20 minutes to get our appetizers, only after we asked. After close to an hour we finally got a chef at our table. The two tables sat after us had chefs and food before us. Management did a good job of apologizing but it was disappointing that no one noticed it took so long for our table to be served. Our chef was fantastic and the food was good. But I also didn't get part of my meal. The chef had to go back to the kitchen to get more chicken because he had forgotten to serve me my share. It was my birthday and I spent the whole night being frustrated with Nakama. Not a very nice way to spend my birthday.
Our food, chef, and waiter were outstanding! Unfortunately we had a reservation for 6:30 and didn't get seated until after 7:30. We were told there was a party of 35 that they were serving and that this was the reason for the delay. If this was the case I'm not sure why they allowed so many other people to make reservations. They claimed they were not taking any walk ins that evening and that everyone had made reservations. I booked our table two weeks in advance and am disappointed that we had to wait for so long. As stated above if they allowed such a large group to come in that evening they should not have allowed others to make a reservation for that same time.
Birthday - Wether you guys really care or not, the server was nice but impatient we did not accurately receive our order (not hibachi) asked if we would like the check before she ever asked us for a refill I had to ask for both of us at the end. Ive has better experiences at Nakamas but just sucks it was like that for her birthday dinner is all.
It was my grandsons first time at a hibachi. The chef was amazing and made it a great experience for him. His name was lewy. The server was a little slow but good.
Told them it was a birthday upfront. Told them at the restaurant but didn’t do anything for my kids. Sat our group of 7 with a group of 4 so I was isolated from rest of group. Chef was awesome. Food was great. Just didn’t feel like we were special on a day when 3/7 of the group had birthdays.
We decided to stop in for dinner on a Saturday night and the restaurant was packed, but everyone was waiting for hibachi; there was no line at the sushi bar which was great. It took awhile for a server to greet us, but the crowds made this understandable. We split a bunch of different sushi rolls, which were all huge and very creatively made. It was really hard to go wrong! The noise level was quite high, so I wouldn't recommend this for a quiet dinner, but as long as you're OK with that, it's a great spot with fabulous food!
Had an absolute great time at the bar with sushi prior to our hibachi dinner. Our bartenders were great and the sushi was exceptional. Went back to the hibachi table for dinner and it went down hill from there. we had a reservation and when we went to sit down, there weren't enough seats at the table for us so they added chairs which made it both awkward and uncomfortable. After that, we waited 45 minutes to begin eating - i found who I thought was our waiter to ask about the delay and was given an attitude from a busboy. Our waiter finally showed up and when asked about the delay, he was equally condescending about it. The actual food, when served turned out being over cooked. Very unfortunate evening for my daughters birthday celebration
Overall a wonderful experience!! From the moment we arrived until we left. Our waiter was very attentive and informative. Our chef was very entertaining and personable. Our food was excellent. Absolutely delicious!! We'll be back!!

The server kept forgetting our drinks and appetizers and switched our checks with other couples sitting at our area.
The cook talked about old girlfriends and how much he smoked and went to the gym. Not professional!!!!! There was no show to be seen like in some other Japanese steakhouses. And the entire restaurant seems to be in need of an update.
Told them I was vegan and they still put butter on everything. Hibachi chef also told us he thought vegans were crazy and we should be eating meat. Please save your judgements and serve me food I’ve ordered.
Waited 30 mins past our reservation for a table to open up, then it was another hour before the chef even arrived at the station to start prepping food. Waited was sub par, though chef and food were excellent.
Best chef we’ve ever had there. Everything cooked perfectly and seasoned well. He didn’t perform any of the “tricks” but had a lot of personality. Made the meal very enjoyable.
When I made reservations I said birthday no one once mentioned it to the persons
We went to Nakama for the first time last night. I made a reservation hoping to eat sushi. When we got there, it was so loud we couldn't hear each other. The host brought us back to a table, but it was only for hibachi. We did not want to get hibachi and we're turned away from the table because of that. We ended up leaving without eating. I would recommend that the host and server are more clear when seating their guests.

Went at lunch and only one chef was there to make hibachi. Despite having a reservation we were told we would either have to sit up front and order or wait until another full hibachi table could be filled and the chef was done with the first group.
Louie our chef was amazing. Great chef and great personality. Best Nakamas we have had in awhile. Steak, shrimp, rice, and mushrooms were cooked perfectly.
The food was certainly delicious! Our party of five had a variety of sushi, seafood, and steak entrees. All were great! The restaurant is extremely dark, having only a small pendant spotlight directly over the hibachi. I actually resorted to using my phone light to read the menu. The floor is cement & there’s a warehouse feel. The waiter was very attentive. Our chef was not engaging in the least. There was no interaction with the guests. It was quite boring compared to other restaurants and even other chefs at adjacent tables. There are two similar restaurants closer to home. It’s unlikely we’ll make the drive to the southside. Very average.
The White Tuna Sashimi was absolutely outstanding! It was like butter!
This was the worst meal we've ever had in the 10+ years we've been going there. Hoping it was just a bad chef .... quality was poor, servings were small, shrimp served raw. Very disappointed in our $200 meal.
