We’ve eaten at Nakama for many, many years. Their chef Luke is the greatest and will give you an amazing and unforgettable meal. From the show to the food it’s top notch. Some of the other chefs are very hit and miss. The food is always good but as we found the other night all chefs are not created equal. Our chef ran through the mandatory fire and the rest of the cooking with very little enthusiasm. The rice was undercooked as well as they cross contaminated the all the utensils first cooking shrimp and chicken and at the same time using them on the vegetables, rice and tofu. We had to stop the chef so everyone would not end up sick. We’ve never had that experience. The chefs have always cooked the vegetables and rice before cooking the meat. I’m hoping this is not a trend. This is where we go to celebrate big events in our family and I’m not sure we will be back many more times if the chefs don’t at least try to reach the standard I know they can have when people like Luke are cooking.
The restaurant was okay. The service was decent. The chef was cute. I️t wasn’t the best experience I’ve had there. I will not be returning and hoping other patrons stay away until they rectify their mice problem. After dinner, there was a mice seen running back by the bathrooms. That’s disgusting, unsanitary, and GROSS. The manager reported they were working with the county to rectify the problem. Maybe they should be closed until it’s resolved. I noted I️t in my receipt.
It was my daughter's birthday. Our chef and server was awesome. However, the lady manager running around in a white apron was very rude. We were still eating when her and the bus boy startes bringing the next table set up to start setting up. That was very annoying. Then the lady manager said to me we can move you so you can talk. I told her I was waiting for my credit card and I was not moving. We did not get the gong you get for your birthday, either.
I went here with some friends for my birthday. I included in my reservation details that it was my birthday but still had to let our server know three-quarters of the way through the meal. She also forgot the rice for two of my friends. One of them spoke up for the both of them, but in the end only one person got their rice. It was also amazing to me the pure loudness of the place. I enjoy a rowdy and excited atmosphere but you couldn't hear anything in there. I felt like I had to scream just to communicate basic information with the person sitting next to me. It sort of ruined the evening because none of the people who came were able to feasibly converse. We also had a reservation but our Hibatchi chef did not come out until an hour after we had been seated, which seemed like an unreasonably long time, especially having made a reservation. Granted we did go to this restaurant on what I assume is one of the busiest nights of the week, but considering there are 52 weeks in a year... would it be too much trouble to get their act together on these days? I also was shocked at the difference in portions. My friend and I ordered the same meal with different types of protein and received hugely different portions. Despite paying the same amount I walked away with leftovers and my friend walked out of there hungry. I would not recommend Nakama if you want a consistently awesome experience. I know there are a ton of people who love this place and love it every time they come, but I just don't see them being consistent in any area of service, thus I would not recommend. It's a mixed bag!
Been to the restaurant a half a dozen times. This time was for business and wanted to impress because we have had positive experiences the previous 6 times. Unfortunately we didn't have a good experience this time. Our chef cooked!!! Did a one gimmick and banged his utensils. He was nice but obviously inexperienced. We ordered Sushi and did not receive until we were done with our Habachi Meal. They felt bad about it and did take the Sushi off of the bill. My Customer was cool about the whole thing. I will go back and hope that things will be the better next time!!!
I took my fiancé here for her birthday dinner. I talked to them about it being her birthday and wanting them to stop over with their b-day celebration they do. The said they would even after I reminded them again but they never brought it over to celebrate her birthday.. I had the chicken diablo which they over cooked the chicken and ruined it. Overall I spent over $100 for 3 of us to eat and my food was terrible and they never did the ice cream and candle for her birthday even after I talked to them multiple times and was told they would.
Worse nakama experience I ever had. I will never return to this restaurant. The hosts were all chatting when we arrived, they did not greet us until I finally spoke up and told them I had a reservation. We were not ask which seating did we prefer, they just took us to a table with a group and we wanted to seat at a regular table. After explaining to the hostess, that we did not want to seat there and preferred to sit a regular table for two. They finally sit us where we wanted then it's a waiter forever to come to our table. When he finally arrives he has the biggest attitude. He asked us if we wanted something to drink and ask us was there anything else. I told him we needed food menus because we weren't given any. He returns with our waters and one food menu knowing we needed two. After seeing how rude he was going to be if we decided to just leave. I don't trust a impolite, unprofessional, and aggressive waiter!
The food was good. Our hibachi chef was friendly and engaging. He made it a fun experience. Tipped him well. Our waiter was just ok. Not attentive to our drinks. 18% gratuity added in for our party of 6. The service was not worth 18% especially after directly tipping our chef. Overall good experience for those celebrating their birthdays.
Overall experience was good..went there to celebrate birthday.. host and waiter forgot to bring dessert. After check was paid for host laugh like it was a joke and says oh i forgot ur dessert. No comp sorry or anything...that was rude and unexpected considering the place was nowhere near busy. ...other than that i had an awsome time...Note to self do not go here for birthday..
The front desk staff needs training.
They didn't check us in on OpenTable, so I was notified we were a no-show, while sitting in the restaurant. I went to the front desk to ask about this, and got tons of excuses and then was told sorry, can't change it after your arrival time, too bad. Finally, the manager came up, logged on, and changed our status to arrived in about 5 seconds. A simple, "let me ask" from any of the front staff would have been the right thing to say.
Good was fair. Not bad, not great.
We went there for my son's 16 th Birthday. It was his choice as he was there a few weeks ago for a friends Biethday and raved about it. Both times, his food allergies were well attended to by both the server and the chef. He had no issues and loved his meal!
