Great family date nite. Kiddos 2 and 4 liked the chefs and fire. Food was excellent.
We went to this Nakama location for my daughter’s birthday. We’ve been to the Southside location on many occasions but this was our first time in Wexford. Our hibachi chef was fantastical. Very entertaining and knowledgeable about the food that he was preparing. Our meals were delicious.
We love the South Side location but the Wexford location has consistently disappointed and we will not be eating there again. The service is consistently poor and the food is never the same quality as the South Side loc. We waited soo long for a server and then I was given a glass of iced tea that looked like coffee and had NO ICE. I had trouble chewing the sushi and I typically love their shrimp but they tasted soo weird I didn't eat them. Our chef was very nice and the server looked as though he was very stressed out. There were only 3 "tables" and 2 servers so not sure what the problem was....again. Such a shame.
Nakama in Wexford is never a disappointment. The food is great and service is friendly and attentive.
For the most part the overall dinner was enjoyable. We were there with our adult children for father's day. I would like to offer constructive criticism. My son and his wife are vegetarians. Well, they do eat fish, but they do not eat beef or pork or chicken. Both the server and the chef were aware of this. The other four of us ordered combinations of chicken and beef. My son who is a vegetarian ordered tuna with veggies. My daughter-in-law ordered the vegetarian delight.
When the meal was prepared the chef cooked the vegetables last. Which meant that the vegetables were cooked with the same utensils and on the same grill as all of the meat products. This should have been done in the other order, with the vegetables being prepared first, prior to any meats touching the grill or the utensils. In addition, my daughter in law was not served any of the items that were cooked first. As such, her plate sat empty for approximately 40 minutes while waiting for something to be placed on her dish. Had the vegetables or at least the mushrooms been prepared first, this would not have happened. My son had to ask the chef to start the mushrooms, so that his wife could at least have something to eat.
The chef was young and she appeared to be newly trained...... I am hoping this feedback makes it back to her so she knows for her future customers. She was pleasant, polite, kind and courteous. We really enjoyed her. But she seemed to be completely unaware that one of her customers sat that long with no food on her plate while some of the others in our group were almost done eating.
We were at the Wexford restaurant, and I believe she is the only female chef. Please pass this on, so that she might accept these comments and consider modifying her routine/order of preparation for her future customers.

Outstanding as always. The food is always great, it’s a great show, and the service is wonderful. A favorite of ours.
We were a party of 12. The two chefs were great. Granddaughters ( age 3 and 4) had a wonderful time! Food was hot and delicious.
Had reservations at 7:00. Did not start eating until 8:30. People that were seated after us ate before us. Server was very slow and kept forgetting our items. Hibachi chef was also very slow and in my opinion not experienced enough to be cooking on her own. Food quality was not up to part and not a great value for what we received. Would probably not return again unless things changed.
Did not even acknowledge birthday even though it was booked as a birthday celebration.

We celebrated my sons 18th birthday tonight. Our server was very nice. The chef was awesome. Food as always was very good.

The chicken was overcooked so my kids wouldnt est it. It was very chewy.
Our chef was amazing but our server was horrible! We went almost an entire dinner service without a drink. Our chef told her we need drinks and she still wouldn’t come over. He ended up getting another server to get them for us. She never ordered the appetizer for the other party at our table and the chef had to quit cooking and go and get that as well. That was by far the worst dinner service I have ever had. To spend over $200 on a meal and not even get a drink is ridiculous!! Not a manager in sight. I won’t be back to that location!
Hibachi chef was awesome
I have been to this restaurant literally hundreds of times. After this restaurant opened Nakama it was very good. It has however deteriorated over time but last night was an all time low. our meal was literally in edible. On the positive side the manager did discount on our bill by 50% however we were not able to eat anything but the salad and soup that arrive first.
I have not been in about 10 years and thought trying the new location with my family in Wexford would be worth it. Making a reservation was easy and we were seated around the time. Appetizer and salads came out fairly quickly and drinks were refilled. However, I think our table was forgotten about...
We didn't actually get started on the grill until 8:00p. It was an hour after our reservation. Another hibachi next to us had already started within them sitting down. If it weren't for the speedy service of the soup and salads, I think we would have left. Also, our meat was cooked first, so if you wanted that with everything else...it was cold by the time the rice and veggies were ready. For the price, we were disappointed.
Thank you so very much for the wonderful experience during my fathers birthday dinner! From the waitress to the chef you have wonderful individuals working for you! We were a party of 11 and you all were so very accommodating!!! I haven’t been to this site since it was Miyakos and I can see why it was replaced! You blew them out of the water!!

I was very disappointed in the overall dinner. I have been dining at Nakama since they first opened on the South Side. I have had may wonderful dinners there with my husband and family. Friday night was the worst experience. The chef was lacking in training and proper handling of the food on the grill. She was very young. It was clear from the start she did not know what she was doing. She cooked my seafood in the residue left from steaks that were cooked for other guests. She admitted to me she did not know how to cook the lobster. I have training both professionally and as a very good home cook. I talked her through each step. She left the appetizers for last. I discussed my experience with the manager and they did comp my dinner. But, I have to think I probably won’t return to that location.

We were seated in the bar where it was extremely loud and having a baby with us.. that was not ideal. so we ordered sushi to start that came out really warm and had an odd texture. we then ordered & my boyfriend for the lobster dinner and the portion was so small and absolutely not worth the price. My rice was extremely hard and inedible. We left extremely dissatisfied
The food was good but pricey. The fried rice is an extra charge which seems silly. The food was good but I am not sure it’s any better than other less expensive hibachi restaurants in the area.
Delicious food, a bit pricey though
Our 2 adult daughters had sushi appetizers which they always love, and also had the steamed dumplings (gyoshi?) shrimp/vegetable appetizer which was delicious. All 4 of us had fried rice, choice of shrimp or mushroom appetizer, tossed salad with Ginger dressing, and a beef broth mushroom soup. Steak, shrimp, and scallop dinners were great, with grilled vegetables also. Food quality was excellent, temperature hot right off hibachi grill, portion size large, served with 2 wonderful sauces -one for the beef and another for the seafood. Service is always friendly and excellent. And each chef always delights with the show he performs with food and cooking utensils right in front of you on grill:) Nakama's always wants to make sure the customers are happy with the quantity /quality/service - 5 stars on everything. It's our go to place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions or just a family treat.

Took my parents there for 1st time and we had a young female hibachi chef who said she had only been doing this for 4 weeks and it showed. She really didn't do any tricks you usually see the chefs do and did a poor job cooking food. The vegetables we received last werent even cooked all the way while everthing else was starting to get cold or we had already eaten it. She even strugled cutting the meats while she was cooking it! First time we had ever had a poor experience there!
A fun hibachi steakhouse. Food is excellent and the presentation is a nice part of the meal.

We went in on Valentines Day. We sat in the bar. The food was outstanding although we had to wait a long time for the sushi. I guess they were busy. Very good sushi and hibachi. I would recommend it!
Excellent high quality sushi made with fresh ingredients and creativity. Service team was friendly and attentive even on a busy night.
My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a sangria. Both tasted like dish soap. The shrimp was undercooked to the point where it was inedible. The waitress was so nice, however, didn’t realize both drinks and meals were left mostly untouched.
Overall good experience but one chef was out that night so we eventually sat at the bar and watched a hockey game and received a discount of 25%. Definitely will go back since we loved the place, food, and service.

My sons 16th Birthday! There were 7 of us, for our family celebration. The chef was very kind and personable., made for a fun experience.The waitress was on top of our drinks . We look forward to our next visit

We sat at the hibachi grill. The service was fine (nothing stellar). The hibachi chef didn’t put on much of a “show” as some grill chefs do. I don’t know if that’s just not Nakama’s thing or if it was our particular chef. We haven’t eaten there in quite some time. Years ago we would frequent the Nakama in the South Side. The North Hills vibe is nothing like I remember South Side to be. Food was good but I couldn’t believe how empty the restaurant was on a Friday night.
They forgot our appetizer, beer smelled like a skunk, and sushi tasted like it was several days old - We will never return.

We had a great experience at Nakama this weekend. Had the tropical sushi roll and steak hibachi. My two tweenage kids loved it and I was happy too!
