It use to be difficult to get a table and this time it was so easy, now I understand why. Everything tasted amazing but the portion sizes is crazy! We use to be able to share the dishes for the same price range. Now we were barely able to sample each other’s dishes. So many empty tables. Now I understand why. Has gotten too pricey. Wait staff and servers were great. As for the portions, not sure when we’ll return. The night club manager, disliked very much. Before you could stay at your table, now they make you leave. They shouldn’t sit parties that are staying in areas that are later re-reserved. So sad, changed so much.
We were very please with the overall experience. Food was great, service was outstanding. Highly recommend this place. Only complaint would be portion sizes. But the prices a very reasonable so I guess it is ok.
Thanks for the great review, Enrique. It was a pleasure serving you as our guest
I went with my sister on Saturday evening to celebrate my birthday and the experience overall was amazing. The food was delicious and portions were perfect but our waiter was the one who left the biggest impression on us. The waiters name was Daniel and he was awesome, he really knew the menu and his recommendations did not disappoint (coconut Mojito🤤). He was super nice and checked in on us regularly. By 11 pm the place turned into a club and the ambiance was very energetic, the dj kept everyone dancing. Overall would definitely recommend if your looking for a night full of Latin flavor!
Was disappointed. Bar area you had to walk through was raucous and not pleasant to have to navigate through. Food was just ok and server unsure of answers to many questions asked about the menu and ingredients of various dishes. Remembered it as being much better but haven't been there in years. Probably would not go back.
The music changed from Latin (which we came there for) to pop music once the dancing started. We were asked to leave our table because it was “reserved” for bottle service after we had paid for dinner and drinks. No one was even sitting at the tables! Disappointing! Felt like las vegas
This was a pleasant restaurant with good food. I would recommend it. The restaurant wasn't crowded and we were seated right next to a family. While there wasn't really a problem, it seemed odd when there were so many seat choices to be so close to another table. The waiter was enthusiastic, the servers could have done a better job of knowing who ordered what...it's not a hard skill .
Overall, tasty food, nicely presented. Thanks!
I don’t usually write reviews but I have to let others know about this restaurant so they don’t make the same mistake I made. I picked this restaurant based on reviews since I’m not from Chicago. I want to start with the drinks we ordered a pitcher of Margaritas and it was terrible, then we ask the waiter to change for Mojitos and those were also terrible. The food was really salty, then only decent thing was the ceviche and the portion was really small. At around 10:30pm we had everyone at the restaurant come to move us out if our table we told them to give us 2 min to gather our things and this guy pretty much took the chair from us(FYI we had a 9pm reservation and we were sat around 9:15pm). We certainly were not looking to stay for the club given the terrible dinner experience. Please don’t make this same mistake we did. Chicago is a great city with many incredible restaurants don’t waste your money here.
The food here is mediocre and way overpriced. $8.50 gets you two tablespoons of guacamole that's pretty flavorless. We sent our cocktails back to the bar to be remade because they were so weak and just...wrong (my mom's lemon drop martini didnt taste like a martini at all)The atmosphere almost made up for the small portions and lackluster offerings. They offer a fun salsa class on Wednesday nights! Also, the service was topnotch.
Got last minute reservations and had no issues. Great place for a date. Staff is really professional and food is fantastic. Started off with the lamb BBQ Tacos which were delicious. Then had the ceviche sampler which was very unique and taste. For the entree we had the aracherra which was cooked perfectly with the papas bravas which were to die for and the shrimp and scallop scewers. Seafood tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly. For dessert we had the churros which we couldn’t get enough of. Feel free to stay after dinner for some fun Latin music and s night full of dancing.
Such a fun place! Food was awesome—-we did the daily pre-fixe which was a really good deal—-it included a choice of an alcoholic drink. Then they had salsa lessons which I did not partake in, but was super fun to watch. We had the lamb tacos as part of the meal—-those were the stars of the night. Really good!
Fun atmosphere, great music, and the food was quite good. But we were celebrating a birthday and the pitchers of margaritas were expensive and light on the tequila; it was notable.
Nacional 27's decor, atmosphere, service and music were all top notch. From the menu, we chose the dinner party which allowed for more variety on our table and everything was great. The tiny lamb tacos were especially savory, the grilled veggies were tasty and I had never tried fried yucca before, but now I'm a fan! I absolutely enjoyed the passion-ginger sangria and look forward to trying other flavors on future visits. I only have one complaint and it's not really a big deal, but after spending over $120 on dinner and drinks for 2, the staff at the bar and hostess stand did not want to accommodate by stashing away our "doggy bags" once the restaurant became a club. Still, we dropped the food off at the car and got out on the dance floor! The dj was amazing, the crowd was lively and friendly and a good time was had by all!
And I must give a shout out to the beautiful lady in coat check, she had a great smile and demeanor, as did the rest of the staff, but she shined! Will definitely spread the word about Nacional 27!
Absolutely delicious. Beautifully presented
Amazing food, great service, and a great atmosphere!
The food was good, but overpriced. The servings of ceviche were tiny!
We loved the food, the ambiance, and the service. We are looking forward to returning!
Had late dinner with a friend, Staff was exceptionally friendly and of great help. Service alone would make me come back.
Great food and awesome music. Will definitely go back.
Our waitress was super sweet and very attentive. Will definitely be back.
The ambience was nice, I would come back. I really wish they had a steak and shrimp combo tho
We arrive for dinner, were seated. It took a little too long for waitress, she did come took our order.she did not bring me my food.although she repeated my order they did not bring me food.she placed the order but it was late. Then the food was not great at all as I expected.i was offered other selection but by this time it almost 10pm. I was disappointed with the service on that day.everything seemed to be servedon a delay.
Had my birthday there. Loved the place. Good food, good music, good ambience, good crowd. Perfect for a date night or party with friends.
To eat yes , however we were looking for a night of latin dancing and that was just not it .
The food was just ok, it was not worth the price. This was my second time there. The first time the food was excellent, not so go this time.
Everything was good, we had a great night. The only thing I didn’t like was that I was asked to leave my table around 9:30 even though I was still purchasing drinks.
Great food and nice ambiance. I would have preferred the waitress not bring a birthday dessert on her own and then put the cost on my bill. Sadly, I took it off her tip since that was not a good move on her part. We also would have liked to be able to stay for dancing and not be asked to move because we are not ordering bottle service. We just spent a few hundred on dinner. A courtesy would be to ask people to stay and enjoy the evening. I know better what to expect. I'll go back because the food is high quality.
They forgot our appetizers, and service was overall slow. Drinks were good, entrees were good but not sure they were worth the price they cost. Manager made up for appetizer issue up by comping it.
Dessert was good though I expected churros to be hot.
My friends and I did not really enjoy the dinner at National27. First- there was food on my seat. I waited for 5 min until the waitress came with wet paper napkin to wipe the food and walked away. The seat was wet and I had to take out my own napkin and clean/ dry out the seat. Now the food- the steaks - definitely a no -no! One of my friends ordered a filet mignon- for the price of $35 one would expect tasty meat, not dry and overcooked. Ordered MW and got WD. My other friend ordered the Arrachera- also the same. Both plates were super hot to touch when served. Ican only say that most likelt the dinner plates sat under the warmers a bit too long before served- hence ended up dry and overcooked. On top of that we had not finished yet the dessert that we ordered and had almost a full bottle of wine and were asked to free up the table for bottle service reservation. So after spending close to $400 usd on dinner between 4 people we were asked to leave the table and I had to carry the bottle of wine in my hands! There were other tables open. So definitely do not recommend this place for dinner- food is not worth it abd on weekends for dinner after 8.30 PM- you will be kicked out of your table for bottle service! Now - the good part- excellend dancers on the floor and we had lots of fun dancing. I would go back again for that part. Bottom line- skip the dinner at that place- not worth the value, go somewhere else to enjoy decent food. Come to National after 11.30 PM to enjoy some latin music and dancing.
I came here to celebrate my birthday with friends. They kicked us out at 11 because they wanted to take the table to open the floor. The waitress was very nice. There was a very rude woman who came over and told us to leave because they have to take the table and she was incredibly rude. This ruined my entire experience.
Fun place for dinner, drinks and dancing! The food is pricey for what it is but overall my group of 8 had a great time!
Very Pleasant atmosphere food was great service was impeccable. Can't wait to go back soon .
Server didn’t take give us the expected service a server would do. I’ve served for years in the food industry and she was rushing everything and took long to check up on us in the entire time we were there she checked up on us twice and to collect the bill.
Food variety and quality was good.
Service was also good.
Tall Boy Taco was fine skip the restaurant
Nice look to the restaurant but they didn’t have Sol a Mexican beer and were out of Stella...first frustration. Service was slow and idk why as the restaurant was less than half full. Food was so-so. Chips were greasy, and the enchilada was crispy and minimal cheese. The sauce tasted like chili sauce. Probably won’t go back, better Karin restaurants in south Chicago.
Made reservations at 9pm but they were having trouble sitting people and also got skipped while waiting for our turn. Tapas were good but the steak wasn’t as great.
We got there early for our reservation but still had to wait. The atmosphere was great but the portion sizes were small and everything was a la cart. I got the Beef Gaucho kabob and it was really not seasoned well. At 11pm we were asked to leave our table in the dining area to make easy for the hundreds of millennials clamoring to get into the place for the club. V came here 2 years ago and the place has definitely changed and now caters to a younger crowd. Even some of the dishes that were previously on the menu were no longer there. I don't think I will be visiting again.
Exciting and dynamic environment. Fantastic food-seemingly clean ingredients, very fresh seafood. the roasted corn queso is out of this world delicious. service was on the spot as well
Overall, a delightful experience. The service was wonderful, very attentive and warm. However, the food on whole was above average and the empanadas lacked much appreciable flavor. The appetizers were fabulous and the tilapia tacos were quite flavorful. I would recommend this restaurant to others and we will return and give the empanadas another chance.
Nacional 27 never disappoints. The food is delicious, portions are small, and economically priced to enjoy a variety of entree on your visit.
