Nabuki Ratings and Reviews
Nicest food in Hinsdale (it's a low bar) but a message to the staff - please back off the table! People are buzzing around all the time. Plates can be collected when everything is finished. Water doesn't have to be topped up every time a mouthful is consumed. Give us some space!
The food was outstanding but the service...not so much.
The server was very nice but everything was SO slow. It took so long to get our food. Never came back to see if we needed anything. No refills on drinks.
The place is small, cramped and very loud. It's a good thing the food out weighs the negatives.
Am a regular here. Typically there 1 to 2 times / month since it opened. Sushi is fantastic. Creative and exceptionally fresh. Service has always been spotty... management has gone downhill with each new manager. Fortunately the food has not. They totally dropped the ball on a dual 13th birthday dinner. Very disappointing!!!!!!!!! The food is so good it’s worth overlooking the negatives. It’s very expensive but I’d rather pay more for quality!!
I went to Nabuki with my two high school-aged daughters. When we were seated, I noticed a chip in my plate. Not a good sign for any restaurant. Also, the chair I sat in was unstable and rocked back & forth, which was annoying, too. The sushi and appetizers were "meh." We ordered edamame, miso soup, & spring rolls (which surprisingly fried & not in roll form) for appetizers. For our sushi, we ordered the California roll, the salmon roll, the tuna roll, the King Crab roll, and the Philadelphia roll. All were decent, but not earth-shattering. Not sure if I would return or not. This is probably the best sushi you'll find in the Western suburbs, but for the best sushi, you have to head downtown.
love the restaurant. The wait staff is excellent especially Sharon, the bar tender/wait staff in the bar. She remembers all her clients and has a smile on her face. I especially love the gal who buses tables who can hold about 20 martini glasses in two hands!
Ladies night out in a Friday Although I've been there on a weekend night with the ladies and with the family. Love the high quality sushi, the presentation, the ambiance and service. There were 5 of us and we shared two apps and 7 rolls. Ask about the specialty rolls not on the menu
Food was very good, excellant tempura and rolls. Love the house salad which is large enough for 2 people. Service was ok, a couple things came out very fast and then there was a very long wait for the rest. our server seemed quite uninterested and bored/ Recommend going very early and sitting in the front. The back main dining area has poor lighting and ambiance.
One of our favorite Hinsdale restaurants. Recommend reservations in advance. The bar is great for eating and has a large screen TV usually with current sporting event. On this most recent visit, we sat in the newer expanded room where it is slightly less energetic/noisy than the main space. They have a table there that can easily accommodate 8 people. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. We had a great bottle of red wine and our two city/foodie friends said that it was "downtown Chicago sushi quality in a fun atmosphere that they did not expect from the 'burbs."
The food was terrific as usual. They had a special sashimi appetizer with hamachi and some kind of ginger sauce - it was unusual and amazing!
The service was a little slow tonight, got to knock them for that. I think there was a party going on in the party room; I suspect they were understaffed for a full house. I'll usually go here during the week on business and service is never a problem.
I've been to Nabuki several times and I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it before now. We met my in-laws for dinner last night. I made reservations since it was a Saturday night on Open Table. Nabuki is a trendy sushi restaurant. It has a split dining area with high top and low top tables. There are booths along one side and seats along the sushi bar. It is minimally decorated with small white tables and black chairs with green, orange and white accent colors. The restaurant is extremely loud and it is difficult to hear even at a small table. *negative We were shown to our table immediately and greeted by a server, who failed to identify herself. *negative It is a pet peeve of mine not to know who our server is when I need to address her. That should be part of the staff training. We ordered a bottle of wine and shared three special rolls and sashimi served with sticky rice on the side, My father-in-law did the ordering so I don't know the names but we had soft shell crab, tuna and salmon within the rolls with wonderful combinations of tasty tidbits like beet shavings. My absolute favorite was the chirashi don which was the premium sashimi...fresh, fresh, fresh. I love the food at Nabuki. I just wish the dining experience would be more pleasant as far as noise level and comfortable seating. The noice level during the day is much better. Just so you know, there is only one women's bathroom so expect a wait. The service is top notch and attentive. I definitely will go back for the food and I do recommend Nabuki if you like upscale and creative sushi.
