Mystic Fish Ratings and Reviews
Going to Mystic Fish is always a treat. We arrived at 5:30 on a Sunday and everything was in full swing. The fish was especially well prepared, as was the bouillabaisse; the drinks and appetizers were generous. Our server was helpful and did not try to rush us. We were celebrating three birthdays, and were treated to an outstanding assortment of desserts. It was a fun night. Thanks Mystic Fish, you never disappoint!
We come here for special occasions and this time to treat our 4 friends visiting from up north. The food was excellent and everyone immensely enjoyed what they ordered. The Salmon, chicken and shrimp were all cooked perfectly. The only strange thing was when my wife ordered a pina colada without rum. The waiter first said they did not have a blender and they don't have coconut juice and they don't make those kinds of frozen drinks here. Then I said how about a strawberry colada if no coconut. Since we have ordered one just about every time we come, we told him that and he should check and we will take one if its available. So he came back with a strawberry daiquiri (based on the check) and charged $7.50. I told him it was a virgin one but he said he did not hear that and a regular drink was served - but there was absolutely no alcohol in it. They did make a "one time adjustment" so all was good. We will always come back.
Food is consistently good here, as is the service. This was first time we went for Early Bird and the first time my granddaughter and her friend had been there. All good with the exception of my scallops which seemed like they had been prepared ahead of time and heated up.
Best restaurant in Tampa. Fantastic and consistent as usual over the 18 years we've been coming here. Outside it looks like strip mall; inside a warm friendly decor great for a special occasion. We had lump crabmeat (large amount in a chilled cocktail glass) and grilled octopus as appetizers and both were excellent. My wife had the panko crusted hogfish which was perfectly cooked, fresh, and delicious. I had the kona-rubbed ribeye which melts in your mouth. I love this place as well because they don't screw the customer with an outrageous wine mark up (more like 20-25% instead of typical 100+%).
This place never disappoints. They always offer fresh caught fish. Their small plates are varied and are a good starting point for your wonderful meal. They often have bison and other game on special too. There is always good for dessert too, they serve perfectly sized goodies from gelato to creme brûlée. There is outdoor seating as well as high top tables and bar service.
My friend and I had a wonderful early-evening dinner and visit at Mystic Fish! The "Special Menu" was very diverse, offering many delicious choices. I opted for the Salmon, one of my favorites, enjoyed the house wine, and a delicious White Chocolate Raspberry Breadpudding for dessert. Our server was exceptional! Can't wait to go back!
We invited brother and sister-in-law who were visiting to join us for dinner. They loved their meals: hogfish and beef tenderloin, with the feta and dill mashed potatoes. DH and I had scallops--always delicious. Our waiter was wryly humorous and shared a favorite recipe of his.
The food was excellent, although the 'steak tartare' was an unusual presentation (rather like a 'roll', and the flourless chocolate cake was just fair.
The waitress was excellent, but the manager/owner was not particularly cordial when I asked him to return a walker for one person in my party.
Again Mystic proved to be fabulous. My wife had the octopus off of the starter menu and vegetables ..... excellent... I had the hog fish with a wonderful sauce. My friends enjoyed the rack of lamb and new york strip.... Not a complaint in the bunch. Great service and consistent food as far as I have got to know by going to this restaurant. We'll be back again soon....
I had the panko crusted hogfish and my friend has the Chilean sea bass. Both dishes were outstanding. We both loved our side salads, side veggies and the rice (which I got) and mashed potatoes (which she got). Outstanding flavors and everything was fresh. She had crepe brûlée for dessert. A perfect night!
