Muze Ratings and Reviews
Nice ambiance and friendly service but food is meh.
I have lunched at the Muze about 5-6x now. It is the only "nice" restaurant in the neighborhood where I work. So I take friends there for special occasions.
I always ask for a quiet table with a view. This last time was one of two times both requests were honored. I am grateful. Usually they stick me at a tiny table in a corner with no view. This time they sat the 2 of us at a decent sized table for 4, with a view of the waterfront. I wonder if they read my review from last week complaining about the seating.
Whatever the reason, I guess it's good to keep asking for what you want. Sometimes they will honor your request.
My friend ordered the steak salad and liked it. I got the beef "saltado" which was really an Asian noodle dish with thick wheat noodles and marinated beef strips. It wasn't great but it was much better than the terrible hamburger I had the previous week. Whatever you do don't order the hamburger. It has a very strange dry mealy texture and is devoid of any flavor. You are paying for the service and ambiance here; don't expect delicious food.
Service was friendly and attentive as usual. I really like that the waiter leaves the water bottle at your table so you can serve yourself instead of having to flag down waiter each time for refills. This was the best dining experience at Muze so far.
NICE PLACE - BAD FOOD.
I took a friend to Muse for a birthday lunch. I asked for a quiet table with a view (as I always do), and the hostess showed us the same table in the corner I have been seated in before. It was relatively quiet but there was a table of 3 people seated within arm's reach of us. There were other tables that were surrounded by empty tables so not sure what the hostess was thinking in seating us here. Also, there was no view.
My friend ordered the Caesar salad with shrimp which she enjoyed. I got the burger and fries which was interesting in that while the fries were fine, the burger was one of the worst, with a weird mealy texture and zero taste. How can they screw up a hamburger?! This experience is consistent with my past dining experiences at the Muse, which is that you are paying extra for the ambiance, not the food which is consistently disappointing.
Only place around to avoid food courts or pizza joints and have a quiet conversation. Food is good but nothing really outstanding or special. Prices are high--Location is convenient and it is a decent business setting. Wait staff are attentive but also give you your space which is good.
The alcoholic drink I ordered was awful and had to be sent back. The food was okay but over priced. The dessert was phenomenal. The service was interesting. It was scarce for the most part but when it did come around it was a rotation of different people vice the individual who said they would be taking care of you. Odd at best.
Two friends joined me for a special visit -- they had previously tried to come the Mandarin, but got lost. We were glad to make it with no problem! The service was terrific, as was the food! Meals were tops! I had salmon on butter lettuce. The salmon was about as good as I've ever had. My friends thought their meals were also very good.
A very nice feature -- for a little touch of dessert you can get a single scoop (or more) of ice cream. One scoop was perfect!
It's a beautiful location, beautiful facility, extremely well trained staff, servers, et al.
I hadn't been to Muze in five years, but the decor was the same....plastic woven placemats, no flowers on the tables. My daughter's meal (mozzarella and tomato salad) was delicious. However, my lobster salad sandwich was poor....very little mayo, old limp bacon, cold untoasted bun. Most disappointing for a Mandarin Oriental Hotel restaurant.
Nic is Amazing. The main reason why I came back (besides the amazing food and wine selection) to the beautiful establishment. Muze isn't about going out to eat, it's a dining experience. (The place is so wonderful and special I decided to propose to my Fiancé there.) The whole staff is amazing, literally made us feel like we were amongst family. Thank you guys again.
Went for breakfast. Had a reservation for 10.15 that we booked online, but called in to change the reservation late. They close breakfast at 10.30 and did not notify us when we called in or as we sat at our table waiting for the final member of our party. In fact, they didn't tell us until 10.25. Our waiters were fairly attentive, and the food was fine, but it just wasn't the level of service you expect at a place in this price range.
