Fantastic dinner! Took clients and they loved it!
For my wife’s birthday we had a massage at the resort, and went from there to dinner. Elderly woman cut in front of us at check-in and was seated first by hostess.
We asked for outdoor seating- couldn’t use two of the seats because a dog was lying underneath them (with the man at the next table).
Steak came out cold.
Very loud kids made it louder than we’d like.
Estancia is a very comfortable place to stop for drinks before a concert. Cory is a very professional and courteous staff person
Love the setting: brightly colored pillows, comfy, fun chairs by a very large fireplace, seating in shade or sun available or near heaters when it's cool out.
Serve staff was very friendly and welcoming and our particular server knew a lot about the menu and the food. He was there when we needed him and quick with our requests.
We both got the Tomahawk steaks (we'll have 3 meals from them--each!) They taste even better the 2nd time around! Great veggies, although for the first time ever, I wish there had been more of them.
The chili chocolate torte is over-the-top outstandingly delicious! It's a must have.
Too bad the general public would have to pay so much to dine there. I recommend finding street parking on the side by the Salk Bldg. and walking in.
Limited menu, substitute server not fully aware of cioppino ingredients , kitchen slow, payment process very labored, food overall good; not a great value
The room was freezing cold and the doors were wide open. My mussels were great but the sausage in the broth was like shoe leather. One time in Nee Zealand we learned about sheep shearing and were told that after about 5 years the sheep lost their teeth and so were slaughtered. asked what was done with the meat. We were told it sold to the US as “lamb”. I had some of that. Rack of mutton
The Valentine's Day pre-fixed meal was amazing! The experience, from giving us a rose as we entered to finishing with chocolate-covered strawberries, was impeccable. I had such a wonderful time. I highly recommend dining at Mustangs & Burros!
The doors were open and the restaurant was very cold, it was in the 40s that night. Food choices were very limited. And we had to ask for water after waiting for about 15 minutes.
Excellent service in a charming locale.
The food was good, but they charge $35 to park for dinner, did not expect that...
Food was very good. Service was much better than the last visit but there were only 4 other diners. It is expensive but nice atmosphere.
Scallops were excellent, fish tacos so-so. The waitress said something about not getting the fish blackened and I opted for that -- maybe they needed the extra spice to not be bland.
I decided to try it out for my parents anniversary lunch. I read the reviews after booking and before going. Didnt get great reviews but loved the pictures and seemed to be good. The pictures are the best thing about this place. Wasn't the worst but not the best
Some of the worst service ever. Waited one hour for any food to arrive. And the place was not busy. Had to get up to find the waiter five times to ask for basics like ordering drinks, providing utensils or even water. Food should have been better.
The good: The ambiance is excellent. Outdoor fireplace. Beautiful hotel grounds. Intimate dining room.
Good & meh at the same rime. The server seems to have difficulty finding a way to keep track of things. The swordfish tacos were not available, even though every other restaurant in the area has swordfish. The lamb was tasty. Just not the experience we’ve had in the past.
Terrible service even thought there were only two other groups in the restaurant.
There were 5 of us. 2 people prefer soup. Only one was brought to the table before the main course was served. The waitress was reminded to bring the other soup- took 15 min. She was inattentive. We constantly had to ask for water glasses to be refilled .
Took a very long time to get our food , one order (grilled lamb chops) was brought 10 min after everyone else was served.
The portions were very small . Chopping had more rice then seafoo in it! Time for the check- another disaster. Asked to split in halfbetween 2 card ...somehow one bill was 20% higher then the other. Attitude of the staff was not pleasant!! WILL NOT GO BACK!
Party of 4 dined here prior to event at LJ Playhouse. New and improved menu was excellent. We shared plates of brussel sprouts, salad, fish tacos, and short ribs. Food was delicious, as well as the service. Lauren was very attentive and professional. Dining on the patio was comfortable under the heater lamps. Overall a perfect night. We shall return.
The outdoor seating in front of the fireplace is delightful and the menu is interesting. I think they aim mainly at bar food more than dinner per Se which is fine. The trouble is that service is VERY slow. What’s worse is that the food was cold. Even after sending it back, it was still cold. All in all disappointing. I gave it a generous rating because the ambience is so lovely
Easily the worst service I’ve had at the $30-45 entree price point, and on a slow Monday night when some staff appeared slow/idle/goofing off during service. We had to ask for an extra place setting and water, then shared appetizers came out 10-15min apart (no check back). After being forgotten for a good half hour, I asked the hostess for all our empty app plates and drinks to be cleared and have silver replaced - they did the first about 80% and replaced nothing, even when entrees were delivered. I finally flagged down our waiter so we could order entrees and he said he would be back after dropping some checks...15min later we are still waiting to order. For $17, I’d hope to get 3 scallops instead of 2 for appetizer portion. Entrees were good but lukewarm (again no check back). Dessert was fine, check didn’t come until I asked for it. I really took about 3hrs and should have been 1.5-2hrs. Nobody ever came to the table to say “sorry it’s slow” or “gee I’m busy but I will come back” which is free and easy and should be automatic. Lots of options in this area, try one of them instead.
This is the fourth time I have been underwhelmed by both the service and menu. The wait staff is either over attentive or not available. My salad came without the tofu I ordered then 20 minutes later I was served a plate of burned salty tofu. There was no offer to comp my meal or offer a return discount. I am a Blackhorse resident and we have been encouraged to bring business to Estancia but I cannot in good conscience recommend this venue. Too bad because the grounds and atmosphere are lovely.
Wonderful outdoor seating with some delicious guacamole and friendly, knowledgeable staff. For real, eat deliciously!
There are limited vegetarian options and the menu is static, The hostess was rude and the wait staff seemed like they needed the table but the restaurant was not busy. Disappointing since the hotel is quite nice. Would be better to travel to the village or to Delmar for dinner,
Great food and beautiful atmosphere. Busy on weekends.
1/2 order of chicken nachos was plenty for 4. They were very good. Fillet was great. Burger was great
Lavender lemonade was great. Coffee not so much.
Never knew this hotel existed. Has a very lovely setting and great outdoor ambiance. Was a little cool tonight—we had best table in the house, right next to fireplace.
Food suffered from being bussed with covers from another location, but was well priced. Could be a really good restaurant if they can get kitchen next to eating area.
Perfect for dinner prior to going to LJ Playhouse. Service was very good.
The food is to die for! The blue corn muffins came first; the only “meh” thing we tasted... pretty dry, bland and sweet but then had a few share plates of scallops, octopus, & shrimp ceviche... all amazing & flavorful....wow! Then we had the achiote tacos that needed a little more achiote flavor and the skirt steak, which was the best thing we’ve eaten in a long time.
The service started out very attentive then not so much as service got busier. We had to wait a very, very long time for our check but we observed that our server was very overwhelmed.
The ambiance was so relaxing & most of the food exceptional so we’ll be back.
We expected more from the restaurant, given the location, but were disappointed in our experience there. Food was just ok, very slow service, and very average waitstaff. Do not plan to return.
Very nice patio with a beautiful stone fireplace, surrounded by succulents. Great food, drinks and service.
Lovely atmosphere, perfect food. Hands down delicious
Nice table very good service and food
The food was not bad. The brussel sprouts were just ok. A little too salty and too burnt for my taste. I had the portobello mushroom tacos which tasted very good. The quinoa salad was not really a quinoa salad just a drizzle of quinoa but the dressing was very good. I just wish they had other vegan options.
Food was excellent but it does have a imited menu. Said it was due to new chef
We really loved Mustangs and Burros! The grounds are beautiful and so classic. Every staff person who we interacted with was polite and very helpful. We appreciated the free valet parking while dining. They have a wonderful wine list and we both enjoys a great glass of wine with our meal. Our service and food was very good. We will return again for another meal.
Great acoustic guitar player/ singer in patio on super hot day...we sat inside ( much cooler) and had a good meal. Sopes and carne Assaf nachos were tasty. Sopes somewhat dry. Excellent, personal service. We’ll come back
We stayed at the hotel. Food was so so and very expensive.
Food is great. Additional vegetarian selection would be appreciated.
Awesome find with great modern Mexican inspired. Unbelievable outdoor ambiance at night with the fireplace. Will be back!
We were staying at the hotel and decided to schedule a business meal here. The service was incredibly bad. No one even visited our table for the first 15 minutes. Then we had 3-4 servers tend to us and it seemed our table belonged to no one. Even after asking the hostess for a server, the consistency and wait was very bad and it was embarrassing and interruptive the number of times we had to get up and ask some one to fill our water glasses, take our order, and get the check. Although the food was decent, the service and ambiance are out of line with cost of food and expectations for this restaurant.
Party of 14 and we enjoyed the beautiful outdoor setting for our gathering. Great food, and drinks and good service.
