Musso & Frank Grill
We were there early, maybe that's why the flannel cakes were on such a cold plate, and also cold.
The maple syrup is real! They do not heat it, however.
Eggs Benedict and seafood omelette were terrific; endless cups of coffee, always served with a smile.
Wonderful place to meet a long-lost friend. We talked for a long time with no feeling of being rushed.
Sense of history, comforting wood booths, white tablecloths, servers in red and black jackets--harmonious and very pleasing.
Visited 2 years ago when traveling in the US. Love the character and history. Like stepping back in time. Will be back again.... don’t change !
Wonderful place. Very classy and the service it's top notch. Try the house Martini (it's the best in LA)
Classic and delicious from drinks to dessert. Excellent meats all around from prime rib to petite filet to calf’s
liver. Great ambiance - place was hopping on a Thursday!
5 Beaus and a Belle Birthday Retirement Celebration! A wonderful time was had by all😉
a traditional favourite and a must for any Hollywood visitor or lover of Hollywood history, oh yeah, and great chicken pot pies on thursdays! don't forget a martini and creamed spinach.
It was very busy but as always, the energy was great. The food quality was not as amazing as years past, but again, perhaps the kitchen was just busier than usual
Service has deteriorated since many of the old school waiters have either been let go or passed away. The times they are achanging but not in the right direction. Martinis and steaks still the way to go!
We made areservation for the Musso & Frank Grill after we saw the movie Once Apon A Time in Hollywood
The food was good, server fine and atmosphere was less intimate than anticipated.
Historic restaurant with excellent service. The food was beyond awful. Martinis were good but nothing special. I’m glad that I tried it, I wouldn’t go back and I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Fantastic food and top notch service.
Musso & Frank pays attention to the details and does NOT disappoint!
Our waiter was exquisite; charming, attentive, and shared his personal story of his and his fathers legacy at this grand establishment which spanned 72 years between them. That's amazing as is their food.
We were celebrating our birthdays and much to our delight there was a lovey card on the table with birthday wishes- who does that!
Musso & Frank create memories- thank you!
Everything about our evening at Musso and Frank was spot on. We started with a martini, which came in the small original size martini glass, but with a little carafe in ice on the side for another martini! We didn’t have an appetizer, because we decided to have prime rib! It was cooked perfectly - tender and beautifully seasoned. We opted to trade out the baked potato for creamed spinach and then had sides of mushrooms and potatoes au gratin. The service was attentive and quick in spite of the restaurant being extremely busy - as it always is. Love, love, love M & F and always have a fun time for a special get together.
My only concern was the martini's. In the past the martini's were excellent, but I had a waiter argue with me about what was int he sidecar. Rather than making me happy he basically implied I was incorrect.
Always a treat. My go to steak house in Los Angeles. Great food, outstanding and classy service with a smile.
Fabulous dinner with historic ambiance. Thank you!
The place was lovely as usual. Generous drinks and good service. Unfortunately the fish was poor. The classic sand dabs were dry and so was the sword fish. I almost sent one dish back. The filet mignon and tartare were great.
Such a great experience, old school Hollywood at its best. Excellent service although they were very busy. Food, better than I remember, it’s been a long time since I have been here. I recommend going for a fun evening out with friends and a lot of history, Mic Jagger dined her for crying out loud, they also film the Kominsky Method in the restaurant! Great if you have out of town guests like we did.
Great place, great food, great service. An Oasis of class in the desert of awfulness that is Hollywood.
...I’ve been a customer for 40 years...I brought three young friends for their first evening at M&F and for their first martinis ever...the evening was brilliant in every way...M&F is an exceptional institution and transcends generations and trends...singularly, on Saturday night I was served the finest petite filet mignon and the smoothest dirty gin martini, ever...’nuff said...
Love this place. Classic old Hollywood. I'll go back there again.
Absolutely wonderful restaurant,I wish the new restaurants that open would take notice what a great restaurant is all about.Service was spot on and the food was excellent.
We went here for our anniversary and were greeted with a lovely card congratulating us. The martinis here are the best I've ever had, and the food, short ribs and lamb, was delicious. We weren't going to have dessert, but were served a chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream for our anniversary, and it was out of this world. The place is a little worn looking, but the place is celebrating 100 years in business, which isn't too bad!
My husband and I took my two sons over the holiday weekend and we enjoyed it so much. They loved it and we did too. Great place for steaks and love the history!
Musso and Franks is a musty, fusty, crusty restaurant that leans heavily on its former glory days as an eatery to the stars. The place is dark, crowded, poorly lit and uncomfortable. The tables are so close together and the noise level so loud that after a couple of tries we gave up talking to each other. We had to read the lips of the red clad waiter who was efficient but not particularly friendly or engaging.... just going through the motions. The only nugget of interest was his pride in the fact that the grill had not been cleaned in 40 years and was thus “well seasoned”. The clientele did not make any effort to dress up for the occasion and baseball caps were heavily in evidence. I guess we were hoping for a bit more Hollywood glamor. The food is old fashioned and dreadfully over priced. For us Beach City dwellers used to avocado and toast based menus the heavy retro meat and baked potatoes on offer were a gustatory challenge. My husband had Lobster Thermidor ( how about THAT for a throwback?) which he liked a lot. I had the lamb’s kidneys and bacon. At $21 it was one of the cheapest dishes on the menu and for that price it would have been good for the bacon to have been hot. But no! It was stone cold straight out of the fridge. Probably left over from the chef’s breakfast. The other members of my family had various meat dishes which they weren’t particularly enamored with, mainly because of the odd taste. Maybe just a little too much mesquite seasoning on that 40 year old grill? Good but nothing special. All in all a bit of a disappointment. Musso and Frank are so popular they have given up trying I think... I wouldn’t go back or recommend it...
Great food and service. Manhattan and G&T to break the ice. Next up were oysters on the half shell with M&F's own take on mignonette. As fresh as anywhere in town, rivals what we've had in Seattle or Portland. And then a caprese salad. Great produce, very nice mozzarella. Main courses were excellent renditions of sand dabs and liver and onions. Key lime pie for dessert. Service has its own rhythm at M&F: nothing particularly fast, nothing particularly slow, always friendly, always helpful.
Nick did a great lob. He could be our waiter anytime. Very customer friendly, great sense of humor.
Iconic, historical, beautiful. We enjoyed our lunch, food good except for the Louie salad. Skimpy seafood portion, no hard boiled egg, Louie dressing absent. Asked for more dressing, all they had was 1000 island. Only thing not meeting our expectations.
Dinner was fantastic!! The service was very good. Thank you for the birthday card!!
Remains a wonderful classic. If anything the food is better than ever: had wonderful bouillabaisse (usually get the sand dabs). best baked potato anywhere. And of course the martinis...
Service was less attentive than usual on a busy night from a waiter who we didn't recognize. We had to request his attention. Unusual but they will want to keep an eye on this. Bottom line: love this place.
Amazing experience. Get the martini!
Exceeded my expectations. Went because my parents were in town and we all loved the meal! The filet mignon was amazing, perfectly cooked! It’s not cheap but totally worth it!
Fantastic Birthday dinner. Really enjoyed myself. Thank you
We were there for my daughter's birthday -- it was a delight start to finish!!
Absolutely the best. Musso & Frank Grill delivers quality food, quality service, at a great price. Enjoy the ambiance, have a cocktail, take your time over dinner. We will continue to return over and over again.
We stopped in for an early Black Friday dinner. Mostly full dining room even at 4:30. No wonder. Simply a great atmosphere for a cool November afternoon. Great service from our red jacketed waiter. Cold martinis and delicious roast beef. Very enjoyable!
Musso and Frank is an experience that any aficionado of old Hollywood should experience. It is a bit expensive, thus my 4-star rating, but service and food is very good. It is much the same, I expect, as when Chaplin and Fairbanks ate there.
Great full on lunch. No booze but lots of food and side orders. Wish I ate there everyday. Old school menu made well with waiters still caring about providing service and acting like they do. Was a quiet day as day after Thanksgiving and while the quality is the same as dinner, the prices were a lot more palatable.
Outstanding service and food!!
