We enjoyed our meal at Mussel Men. We started with 6 oysters and had a Seafood Roast for mains. The seafood was cooked to perfection and complimented with a yummy Beurre blanc. Delicious cocktails and a great atmosphere. I hope Mussel Men find a new home soon!

These were some seriously impressive Mussels! Short and sweet menu with attention to detail on the seafood that was there, very beautifully presented started and the mussels were some of the juiciest in a while I've had in London with a great choice of sauces. To top it off, for what we ate it was pretty darn good value. Such a same this place in going to close soon for the interim hopefully, get there while you can!

Seemed to have lost some of the buzz of its pop-up predecessor. Portions quite small and we had to chase staff to order a second round of drinks. Still a good place to go but needs a bit more effort put in.

I went to Mussel Men on a Sunday and two of us shared the seafood platter special (marketed as the alternative to a Sunday roast). The platter did not look like the website picture and although there was a lot of seafood, it mainly consisted of mussels which look big but aren't super filling. There were only two scallops and 4 oysters - these were by far the best. The soft shell crab, prawns, and scampi were all overcooked and the shells on the prawns hard to peel as a result. The mussels and cockles were bland (just steamed) and given the way the platter was laid out, everything went cold super quick! Although both seafood lovers, we only ate about 1/3 of the entire platter and at £25pp, we both agreed a traditional Sunday roast is much better value (and tastier)! The outdoor area is quaint though and nice to sit in for drinks. Wait staff were friendly but not very efficient - we didn't have our water refilled at all, didn't get plates, and there was no water bowl for hands or plate for shells. Would not revisit.

TL;DR - was expecting some really good mussels from a place that calls themselves a "Mussel ..." something. Both me and my wife were disappointed. Visited the place on Thursday @ 9PM. The good: 1- The place looks nice, they have an outside area, but food is not served there. 2- The place wasn't busy, so we got a bigger table for the 2 of us. The not good: 1- The oysters were average, got the vinegar in a shot glass but no spoon or plate. 2- Got 2 different meals of mussels with chips, just to try it: - mussels tasted OK, - had loads of watery sauce, - around 1/3 of mussels were closed, - most of mussels were tiny and dry, - and it had a strong unusual smell. I could still feel the taste of them next morning.

This was my second time in this restaurant and I have to say that the oysters are amazing. They have different kinds of oysters and platters to share. However, I order a lobster roll with a green salad as a main course and it was very disappointing. It is served in a bread, as a hotdog and it wasn't what I was expecting. Not well presented, without dressing for the salad, small and also quite expensive for what it was (16 pounds). They have a really nice garden, that is an excellent idea for a sunny day. I remember that the first time I went they had very good music, like folk rock and rockabilly style. I really missed that this time. It would be great if they play music in the garden as well.

Yummy mussels served by friendly welcoming staff. Cosy 'little' courtyard garden out back for outdoor dining, but only 6-7 tables outisde (much more inside), so best to get there early or book if you want to eat outside. Delicious cocktails - the classics too; Campari orange had a good measure and came with a scrumptious sun-dried orange slice. Well cooked mussels and yummy skinny french fries with delicious sauces. The langoustines and scallop starters were tasty but very small portions (3 very small langoustines cut in half, and 1 scallop cut in quarters!) so not good value for money in comparison to the mussels. Worth a visit for an informal lunch or dinner; will visit again if in the neighbourhood.

Shockingly bad service. Would never go back. The only two staff working were sat at another table enjoying their own meal whilst we were eating so we couldn't get their attention for anything. Had to get up and go to their table to 1) order wine 2) ask for the bill 3) pay. Obviously they never asked us how our meal was or if they could get is anything else. They didn't explain the dish so we didn't know what the sauces were. Couldn't get worse.

The Sunday seafood roast is one of the greatest meals of all time - a huge variety of seafood topped off with miniature Yorkshire puddings, but any meal you have here is of the highest quality. The oysters are always fantastically fresh and the mussel & chips are always perfect comfort food.

A friend and I visited on the Saturday before Easter and it was very quiet. The menu is limited (not necessarily a bad thing!) but if you are going to have a limited menu, I think it's important to always have those dishes available. Unfortunately, the Lobster Roll was not available , which we both wanted :( (and took 10 mins to inform us of this). We had the tomato pesto, and chervil beurre blanc mussels - ample portions in delicious sauces. The smoked butter that accompanied the bread was also intriguing and worked very well with the seafood. The house wine was ok. I personally would recommend adding some sharing snacks to the menu. When we asked about any available, the waiter brought some baby salamis. Great tunes playing the background and simple but fun décor. The bill came to £50 odd, which for 2 main courses and 2 medium glasses of wine, and a few bites of salami is ok, but not the greatest value. Also I think finger bowls and spoons also should be provided with mussels for this price. Both of the waiters who looked after us were lovely and charming. A few friends have raved about the alternative Sunday roast, which I'd love to return and try.

It was a restaurant we wanted to check out for a while and it did not let us down. The staff was welcoming and extremely attentive. We had 2 cocktails to start both were perfect and for starters we had the Langoustines (could have been bigger) and the scallops with some sweet potato fries all of them very good. Then we had 2 of each oysters that was big step up on flavour but being Spanish we picked the house wine that was Spanish and it did let us down a bit, quite bland and watery. Then we shared the curry Mussel bowl and that was clearly what we came for, lots of licking finger good moments and for sure a reason to come back. My girlfriend had some dessert as well and she was very happy. Great ambient, great mussels and great service will make us come back and recommend this gem for sure.

This was a great place to have a seafood treat. We had the sunday seafood roast which was a seafood platter of prawns, softshell crab, scallop, mussels, clams and oysters. The side of vegetables was tasty and went well with the platter. The seafood was fresh and reasonably priced. I'd definitely go back for mussels or to try the tuesday once a month lobster.

Very close to the Arcola theatre so a handy place for pre and post theatre supper. A lovely relaxed atmosphere with a fun, nautically themed restaurant. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and were very attentive. You don't have to have mussels but they did look very good, maybe I'll have them next time. Although mainly a fish restaurant there were vegetarian and meat options. There was also a good reasonably priced wine selection. It definitely warrants another visit.

There is no doubt the chefs at Mussel Men have access to great, fresh seafood and the skill to cook it. The problem is the strange combinations of hot and cold dishes, where nothing ends up at the table as it should be. So the generous bowls of mussels arrive lukewarm at the outset and cold by the end. The Sunday platter combines chilled oysters and deepfried crab on the same plate, so the two end up at roughly the same temperature by the time the come to be eaten. Even french fries arrived limp and luke warm rather than hot and crispy. The French bread (not offered automatically and took an age to arrive) was again soft and rubbery, rather than warm and crusty as it should be. Service is slow to the point of glacial, despite the staff to diner ratio being one of the highest in London, at least when we went on a quiet Sunday afternoon. This restaurant has real potential - good branding, a simple and stylish design and the menu works perfectly as a pared down seafood offering. They just need to get someone to run front of house, who has a real service background, and focus on getting the food to the table looking and tasting as good as when the chefs finished it in the kitchen downstairs.

Had been trying to dine here for a while. The food was mostly good although I found the mariniere that my mussels swam in a little watery. The bill was quite pricey, picked the second cheapest bottle of wine, but still £23 which is quite expensive, but overall probably fairly comparable for a meal out in Dalston these days.

The starters were outstanding (Soft shell crab £9, scallops £11, langoustine £6.50). All perfectly cooked and filled with flavour. The mussels were epically disappointing though. All 3 of us had the Mussels Mariniere (£12.50 ea), and they came in a watery, herby juice that just tasted overpoweringly of tarragon. Classic mussels, you'd expect those to be done right. Chuck in a bottle of wine, bottle of Prosecco and 2 coffees and dinner for 3 came to £113.50, with a cheeky £14.19 service charge thrown on top, bringing it to nearly £130. For £130 I expect a hell of a lot more.

Amazing fresh seafood. A group of 7 of us went for lunch. We worked our way through a fair proportion of the menu accompanied by a few bottles of Reisling. The highlights were the mussels - beurre blanc and the classic mariniere, the soft shell crab tempura on a bed of slaw, small and perfect. The starter of two scallops with cabbage and bacon were pretty great too. We would all go again.
