Ambiance was really nice. Food was decent, but the chef was unwilling to make a substitution of a vegetable in my entree even though I had a food allergy to the original ingredient. Sever seemed unwilling to even ask the chef about it. For the prices on the menu, I would think they'd be willing to accommodate a change for an ALLERGY. Also, with such high prices I'd expect the portions to be bigger. My dad ordered the Lamb Osso Bucco and I ordered the Gnocchi, both were extremely rich and neither of us wanted to finish our meals. My gnocchi were not even properly made, they were mushy on the outside. Brussels sprout risotto was bland and had no Brussels sprouts (which I only ordered because they refused to replace the veggie in my meal). We did really enjoy their mussels, but the experience itself and the entrees were not enough for me to come back again. Nowadays, a chef should be willing to accommodate requests. as so many restaurants are. The food was not so impeccable that I would go back to a place that was unapologetically unwilling to give me the experience I wanted; there are many other restaurants that will, and that offer the same type of food with better execution. Overall, disappointing.
The food was excellent. Lamb was fork tender. Service was great. And when we left, before we were even a block away, they called and said my wife had left her purse. Thank God for Open Table reservations!
We had a great time eating at Muse . We were a group of 10 people which is hard to do but Muse and the service team did a great job.
Very expensive for very average food. I will not go back
Everything about the evening was fantastic , took my daughter & her college friends. all around great dining experience !
This was our first time at Muse. The food was excellent from appetizers to desserts. I had the fish of the day and it was cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend trying Muse.
My wife and I went to Muse 4 years ago, when were dating. It is small and tucked away, in an old house down a side street off the busiest part of King street. Very easy to walk by without noticing.
I surprised my wife by booking a reservation for our anniversary, and it was as nice as we remembered it being. It is a place that blurs boundaries, chameleonic. It is fine dining, but it’s not stuffy, it is both elegant and comfortable. The food was perfect, and beautiful. I didn’t like the actual serving dishes the food was played on, but that is probably my quirk and not theirs.
It was a great night.
The fish was good. The server was good. The chef would make no susbstitutions though so I will never go back.
Was recommended by friends and very close to our hotel. We stopped in for an early dinner and was not impressed with the food or service. The location and the ambiance of the home is wonderful. However our server was not very attentive. The food was mediocre for the price. The wine selection is great.
Great atmosphere and experience
Amazing food and amazing service
A group of friends got together to celebrate a couple's wedding and Muse was perfect! Not only were they happy to accommodate a large group, but our waitress was pleasant and knew how to handle multiple checks and special requests. We couldn't have had a better time here. Muse had awesome wines, food, cocktails and service!!
The house was built in 1852. It still has the charm. The servers are wonderful and the food is exquisite.
I've been going to Muse consistently for 3 years. It is a wonderful little neighborhood gem that has a solid core menu, with always interesting specials. This is not James Beard or Michelin caliber dining, but it also doesn't have the price tag, either. Great value on food and the wine list, which is surprisingly well put together given the lack of pretension generally.
If you want flash and dazzle, this is not your place. If you want very well prepared dishes, served by a friendly but professional staff with a relaxed, comfortable vibe, this is your spot.
As always, Muse was special. Great atmosphere, service, vibe and some of the best food in town.
The food was very good. We were upstairs and it was quiet. I think downstairs would have been more fun. Service was lacking. Once we were seated, it took about 10 minutes before any wait staff even acknowledged we were there even though they walked by several times. I could go on. Since the food was so good, I will try it again and hope the service is better.
Delicious food and beautiful presentation. Love this restaurant for catching up with friends as noise level is very low and you are seating in one of the various rooms in the house
Fantastic and creative
Excellent food. Service was fantastic. Cant wait to go back.
We dined at Muse for Valentine's day, everything was pleasurable and they have a great wine list. My only complaint is that my steak was very thin but then again it was a limited Valentine's day menu.
Muse is a good spot for a romantic evening with most tables set for two. We were there for Valentine's Day and had a set menu. It was varied enough that both my wife and I were able to have what we wanted. The service is very good but the decor could use a little sprucing up.
Visited Muse for Valentine's Day. Place was packed but service was outstanding (many of the servers have been with Muse for several years). Had special Valentine's menu: appetizer(duck confit over a bibb lettuce/golden beets salad), entree (seared lobster over a brussel sprouts risotto), and dessert (flourless chocolate "pate"). Always have a wide selection of wines, recommendations by the glass and reasonably priced bottles. Muse never disappoints.
Very delightful meal loaded with great taste, nice presentation and overall well done.
It was a fixe price selection menu for valentines and all courses were great pairings
Will be back
This was our first visit to Muse and we were delighted! The food was prepared perfectly and served very hot. The event was Valentines and there was a fixed menu, but they had several choices. My lobster was melt in your mouth good and my husband loved the scallops he ordered. Desert was awesome and the wine selection was very good. The service was very personalized and it was a very good evening at Muse.
Our dinner here was a great experience. They have a great little bar.I had a soup that was marvelous and mussels that I loved. We had such a nice waitress. The restaurant is in a very old house. The dining room on the first floor only has 6 tables. It was a lovely evening.
Authentic, period 1858 house. Service A+, lovely presentations, house made pasta perfect. Only negative was (although varied) wines were too expensive, should have more avg priced.
This was my third visit to Muse. It's a little gem. A very nice Mediterranean-themed menu, with exquisitely prepared food. I especially recommend the duck breast appetizer---I would never have thought of eating duck with onions and dates, but it was a wonderful flavor combination.
Excellent experience and a very warm ambience with service and creative choices.
Great food. Very good service. Only issues were ambience. The rustic setting would be a lot better except for the split seat cushions and open view of the service area with dirty linens visible.
My wife and I loved having dinner at Muse Charleston. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was delicious, our waitress was very knowledgeable and courteous, and the manager was very nice.
It was incredibly noisy and service was slow. We left and did not eat there
Bartender was awesome. Very pleasant Look forward to returning
Muse is off the beaten track where the tourists usually dominate. It's in a quiet historic neighborhood, but convenient to tourist spots. The restaurant is in an historic building dating back to pre-Civil War days. It has a pleasant bar area and separate upstairs and downstairs rooms for dining. The food selection is excellent and the food is very well prepared and tasty. Service is prompt and cheerful. Prices are reasonable for their high quality food.
Great restaurant hidden in downtown Charleston. The bouillabaisse was fantastic.
This was such a cute place. We will be back!
Honestly, we felt more like a nuisance than anything at dinner. When we were seated we had time to briefly review the menu and decided on two starters. When we attempted to order starters our waitress let us know that due to high volume that evening the kitchen wanted customers to order starters and entrees at the same time and she would come back and get both orders. Maybe this was because it was restaurant week however, we both ordered from the regular menu. This also seemed strange since it was 5:00OPM and there were very few tables occupied. Our waitress came back minutes later to get our full orders. At one point in the evening we heard an employee walk down the hallway say that they just needed to make it though the evening. We definitely did not know the context of the conversation but it personally made me feel like we should exopodite our meal. We did appreciate that we were seated promptly upon arrival and enjoyed the music through the home.
The food is fine but if you are looking for a Charleston dining experience to rave about this is not the restaurant.
The ambiance at Muse is truly unique. You feel as if you have stepped back into time. Our food was good and they have a great wine selection!
I found the food to be over-priced and mediocre. Service was excellent but that’s about all I can say. Will not be back.
Food was just an great as the service! We’ll be back again for sure!
