Muse is a hidden gem in Charleston. We have been going there for years and will continue to go there, especially when we have friends in town with whom we want to talk. If you want a place with great food and a place where you can actually hear what your dinner partners are saying, go there.

A delightful dinner in a house built in 1858. The decor is fun and a bit funky. We were in what must be a former parlor with just 4 tables. Unfortunately, we had a "loud talker" anyone of the other tables. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The food was interesting and well presented. I enjoyed my swordfish and my husband his pasta dish. My dessert was supposed to be a blood orange panna cotta. It was heavy, grainy, and bitter--nothing like a panna cotta should be. But that was the only culinary downer of the evening.

My two girlfriends and I were visiting Charleston to celebrate my upcoming nuptials. We read the reviews on Yelp and decided to try Muse. We sat outside in a lovely courtyard and had a thoroughly enjoyable dinner. I had the sea bass and it was incredibly tasty. Service was very good as was the ambiance. I would recommend Muse for a lovely evening out!

Disappointed with the service and value. Entrees were good but starters were ok and portions small. Overpriced for what you get and not enough server staff.

Very pleasant comfortable charleston restaurant. Nice venue with multiple rooms which provide different ambiance in each room. Varied menu with home made fresh pasta. Need to try the gnocchi!....

I dine there frequently while in Charleston on business. The staff treat me like a family member which is a very nice touch. Dining is always the one of if not the best meals I ever have when in town. I dine there repeatedly ever week while in town due to the quality of the entire menu, coupled with the extreme graciousness of the owner and entire staff. I consider the Muse dining experience to be one of my overall best encountered during my frequent travels nationally and internationally for a local airplane company in Seattle. Muse doesn't raise the dining bar, they establish the bar for all others in Charleston to follow for the perfect intimate dining experience. Their Veal Scaloppini should be considered a major food group and is exquisite. Thank you Muse for making me feel special each and every encounter....

The food was excellent, cooked to perfection. The professional wait staff were delightful. It was a very busy night (graduation weekend, weddings, etc.) but we did experience any delays. Excellent value for the exceptional quality of food and attentive staff. I cannot wait to return!

Many people have told us about Muse. It is an intimate space both inside and out. Service was outstanding. I suggest stay with their specialties. I had the New York Strip... was OK, prepared as requested but not worth deviating from other dishes they serve. The crispy sea bass was served whole (some may not like that) bland, nothing to write home about. Server, Rob, was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and attentive. Will give it another shot with other dishes.

We experienced the worst service. The waitress apologized for the delay in getting us our first drink but the speed of service never got any better through the entire meal.

First negative was the drunk group of diners/drinkers “greeting” us as we stepped on the porch saying in a drunken state “welcome to Muse”. Dinner meals were good (tilefish special and gnocchi with shrimp). Dessert was outrageously good (chocolate torte with strawberry rhubarb sauce). Super loud group in room next to us. Honored my request for window table. The waitress was very pleasant and knowledgeable when we saw her but she had all tables upstairs as well as a couple downstairs. Did the best she could considering she had to keep running up and down the stairs. We realize it is an old house and appreciate the historical essence but did feel like it needed a little update and to be a little cleaner.

We have favorite regular restaurants in Charleston such as Magnolias, Eli’s Table, SNOB, Hominy Grill, Poogans Porch, and we always like to try some place we haven’t been before.

Excellent food and service. We were impressed with creative menu options and range of Mediterranean cuisine options. The meals were fantastic and the atmosphere was quiet and casual. Strongly recommend this for apps and or full meal. Bar is small, but fun!

Food was very good and it was a cozy atmosphere sitting on the porch. Service was spotty and we didn’t feel welcoming in this neighborhood type spot. Owner was preaching politics at the bar, really inappropriate.

Food was not overly impressive. What I found most appalling was the mark up on the wine (~ 5x retail cost). They boasted that they are known for their wine, however, what we sampled was not impressive and the value was obviously poor

The food was good. The service was okay. They changed waiter/waitress on us a couple of times. Sometimes really slow, but overall was a good meal, good ambiance, enjoyable. We went for my husband's birthday, while we were in Charleston.

My wife and I visited Charleston and ate at several very nice restaurants. Excellent food and service. Although thus restaurant had a very nice bartender( we chose to eat at the bar), the food was good not outstanding. My wife’s fish was good and plentiful, but my pasta was hardly enough for an appetizer no less a main course. I mentioned it to the bartender and he said would you want to order another. Not for $20. He never offered any more. I also found a piece of plastic in my meal which he took no action to rectify.

The wait staff was a little slow to begin with. We had to wait what seemed like a long time, to first get our water glasses filled, but the service improved somewhat after that. The food, however, was outstanding! The scallops, trout and crispy sea bass were excellent. The bouillabaisse while good was a bit skimpy in volume.

So good we are going back tomorrow! We were disappointed we couldn’t get in to Husk or Magnolia, but no more! Perfect portion sizes. Wish they would get baguette s from Christophe ‘s next door rather than theirs.

What a fun restaurant! Great for a group (which we were) or a date. Lovely old house turned into a dining establishment with great nooks and crannies for tables, including a lovely balcony overlooking Society Street. The Meze Platter is a good way to start and the Grilled Calamari is excellent as well. We were a party of 9 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food, from the salads to the pasta to the fish entrees. We tried four of the desserts - lemon tart, tiramisu, Boca Negra, and the cheesecake and everyone had a favorite - a great way to get your friends and family arguing ...
Our server Don was excellent. His knowledge of the wines and the menu helped steer us in the right direction at every turn.
