Food was delicious, decor was awesome, our waiter, Ben, was very knowledgeable on the menu and made us feel very welcome. We can’t wait to go back.
The food was horrible , the restaurant is beautiful and our service was exceptional. All 4 of us agreed the food was incredibly overrated.
We had a wonderful evening at Muse. The food was very delicious. I tried the restaurant week menu and all of my items were great. The only thing I would say is that the fondue as the appetizer was a little bland. However, my braised beef short ribs were absolutely amazing. I had the apple tarte for dessert and it was one of the best desserts I've ever had! My husband had things from their regular menu and that was all delicious and cooked perfectly! We will go again!
Overall the service was good. I wasn’t overly impressed by the food. My boyfriend got the tagliatelle bolognese pasta and the pasta was so hard. Way beyond al dente should ever be. I always try to sympathize with restaurants because I used to waitress and bartend in college. But for the amount of money you spend to eat at Muse along with the amazing ambiance I simply expected much more in terms of food.
The food was great and the staff was very helpful.
Service was excellent, but we were disappointed in both of our appetizers considering the high price of our New Years Eve special menu meal. We would definitely return to try their traditional menu. Love their long wine list with lots of appropriate pairings for their Mediterranean fare.
Enjoyed a quiet picturesque dinner date with my significant other. The service and food was fantastic and we experienced dinner in a true Charleston fashion.
Food wasn’t very good. The wine and ambiance saved the meal.
Excellent waiter, terrible food. Scallops were raw inside, and not cooked properly (burn marks from stove without any caramelization). Gnocchi was also undercooked and both dishes returned and refunded without question. Shrimp was mushy and not worth eating. Cramped seating was beyond cozy. Noisy child crying made for an even more remarkable evening.
The food was very disappointing. For the price, most of us in the table (10 people) were dissatisfied mainly due to the lack of flavor in the dishes. While the presentation looked great, my deep fried sea bass was very bland (it’s like it wasn’t even salted). Almost all the dishes we ordered were underwhelming due to lack of flavor.
We enjoyed our visit. The host was very welcoming and warm and the physical space had a worn appeal. We didn't find the waitress particularly helpful or friendly. The food was good, I'd recommend it.
Muse is one of our favorite restaurants. It has old world charm, small rooms, and excellent food and service.
We liked Muse a lot. The bar was lively and friendly. Our table was quaint and we could actually talk. Service and food was excellent
Noisy and cramped table setting. Boulliabaise was bland oysters well I’ve had much better. So food was fair to good. Service was good.
Sat upstairs in a quaint room. Food and service were excellent..
Charming setting in an old house, feels off the beaten path, excellent service, fabulous food and drink. Eat here!!!!
Pre Christmas mini getaway
The service was just fine, nothing phenomenal. Our server recited the day's specials but managed to mispronounce quite a few words, leading me to believe she didnt actually know what the dishes were and was just repeating what she was told.
The wine was amazing - I definitely recommend trying a few different wines they have to offer.
My boyfriend got the gnoccis and was very pleased. I had the chef's choice steak. The menu said that it came with French cut green beans and "pommes frites" (fried apples). However when it arrived it was served with green beans and French fries sprinkled with parmesan cheese??
When I explained to the server that the menu said fried apples and not fried potatoes (pommes de terre frites), she simply said whoops and offered nothing to fix the fact that I was served French fries that I did not plan on eating.
Then came dessert.... the chocolate torte with strawberry sauce was fantastic. My boyfriend got the tiramisu and unfortunately had to stop eating it due to finding pieces of plastic in the dessert.
Overall, NOT worth the price of the meal. It was just a few mistakes, but they were very crucial mistakes to make when customers are given a $100+ bill for two people.
Quaint, romantic ambience, chill background music, great menu options for comfort-style palates, and the second floor was perfect for our party of two.
We always enjoy Muse. This was the first time we had been when it was not restaurant week. So very impressed with all aspects of the dinner.
Nice atmosphere but could use some paint on window trim and walls. Food was okay - we asked for parmasan cheese and friends asked for salt - to add flavor to our food. Prices appear reasonable but portion sizes are small.
Great food, portions were very small though. Great service and ambiance.
Excellent service. Many selections and very creative choices. Delightful environment. Enjoyment dining experience.
We had to rush out to get to a concert but everything was wonderful, very nice location, atmosphere was quiet and our waitress was amazing.
Lamb chops are excellent, as well as the blueberry cheesecake (melts in your mouth). The mediterranean sea bass is very good. The rissoto is a good complement.
Service and flexibility are outstanding!
A great place for dinner.
Always have a wonderful experience at Muse! We love the food, the service and the ambience.
I am a local but this was my first time here. Everything was outstanding. We will be back!
Interesting restaurant with several rooms. Food is ok. The wine list looked excellent, but then the first two wines we ordered they didn't have.
We were excited to try Muse, hoping to find a hidden gem. Unfortunately, it fell flat. Tagliatelle Bolognese was bland, full of whole carrots, and pasta did not seem fresh. Veal Scallopine was bland and polenta had no flavor and was runny. Server was pleasant, but service was slow all around from getting our bottle of wine, to appetizers, then after leaving the check, did not see waitress for 10 minutes. Atmosphere was quaint, but then we smelled smoke coming in from the patio outside, even though it was no smoking. All in all, a disappointing experience.
A friend recommended the crispy sea bass and I was not disappointed. Service was impeccable!!
Our first trip to Muse will not be our last! What a gem! It's a small place with a great bar, and outdoor tables. Service was excellent and our server was well informed on the menu items and her recommendations were spot on.
We started with a cheese plate with four excellent cheeses, bread, nut mixture, dried fruits and honey on the side. Our server recommended that we try the blue cheese with a little honey...it was great.
The Bolognese sauce was tasty and well prepared, the pasta was a bit too al dente for my wife, but it was very tasty.
My Crispy Sea Bass was absolutely great! It was in my top 10 meals ever had. The fish arrived whole, but the filets were tender and boneless. The flavor was perfect.
The poundcake dessert was just OK, as the pound cake was a bit dry.
The Ricotta Cheesecake however, was outstanding. Light and flavorful with a delicious walnut crust.
We will absolutely return to Muse and bring guests with us.
Very romantic restaurant. Great for date night. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.
This place is charming. The food was delicious. Ben was a great waiter. Such a gem in an historic house in downtown Charleston! The sea bass is a treat.
Very disappointed with veal scallopini and polenta. Veal had no flavor and scallopini was runny. Have had this entree before and it was excellent. Maybe just an off nite....
Great service and ambience! We were disappointed with the food. It was ok-but we were hoping to be wowed.
Server was very aloof and unfriendly. He was quite knowledgeable of the wine list. We have marked this off our restaurant bucket list.
Birthday dinner for 8. A room to ourselves. Wonderful staff and indulgent management. All in all a great experience. We left a big Thank You on Facebook.
We chose Muse because we needed someplace easy to get into before a Gaillard concert on Sunday evening. The Italian-inspired bar had no prosecco. The white wine offered as an alternative was not cold. Best thing about our meal was our waitress, who was a delight. The bouillabaisse tasted like seafood boiled in water--zero seasoning or flavor. The veal scallopine served in a mush of polenta -- again, about as flavorless as one could imagine. Incredibly disappointed and embarrassed that we had brought our out-of-town guests here.
Reserved this place last minute and was immediately impressed with the place. The greeting friendliness of the hostess was comforting. The waiter had impeccable knowledge of wine that paired with our meals. Loved every minute of it.
