Amazing experience. The food was great, the service was good and the atmosphere is pleasant. Would love to go back again and will soon!
Muse is a very energetic fun restaurant. The food was excellent. Everything we had we was well prepared. We were there during restaurant week so the service was a little uneven but we enjoyed ourselves. We sat out on the patio with the heaters on (it was a pretty cold evening) and we were quite comfortable. It was also very loud inside the restaurant so we enjoyed the quiet outside with the few other hearty diners. It’s in a great part of town and we enthusiastically would recommend it if you are visiting.
Great service, ambiance was wonderful being that you are in an old Charleston house. Restaurant Week menu was delicious. Get the Sweet Potato Gnocchi!
the dishes took extremely long to get to the table. we sat down at 6:40 and got our entrees at 8!
the table next to us was very loud, if the outside seating was more open it would've helped with that
Chose Muse as a new experience during Restaurant Week based on menu. Was not disappointed. Enjoyed cheese fondue appetizer, shrimp and mussels paella, and pomegranate triffle for dessert. All were very tasty and different.
We have had wonderful food at Muse in the past, but not this time. The bread that came out was gummy and not cooked. The main course was SUPPOSED to be cassoulet, but what we were served was lamb broth and a few pieces of meat, but no beans—a main component of that dish. We were compensated on our bill with no charge for our wine, but we would rather have had the food that sounded so good on the menu but came out very disappointing.
Very good experience in an old historic house with excellent food. Service was very good at the table but we waited at least 5 minutes at the hostess stand until someone showed up to help us (we had a res). So, overall, excellent food, very good ambiance, and good service.
Great house concerted into a wonderful place to dine and or relax. Extensive menu, great food and drink and personable staff! Bravo!!
Pretty good food for restaurant week. However, waited in hall for about 5 mins on arrival before anyone acknowledged us, which does not leave a good impression, and space seems cramped.
Fantastic meal . Great food, wine and service. We enjoyed restaurant week specials and items from the regular menu.
The food bland, fresh bread was raw in middle, and waitress was rude and flighty. I think she was serving the entire upstairs. 4 of us ordered different foods which were all served over the same parsnip puree. There are so many better restaurants downtown.
A great place for a night out with the girls!

Seated right away. Atmosphere is cool in an old house. Service was pretty good and quick. Food was great.
The staff and ambiance was great but for the price can’t make up for the lackluster food quality. Scallops undercooked, steak full of gristle, pasta blah, etc.
Bartender very knowledgeable, good food, excellent service.
We arrived early. The restaurant is in a historic home. We were seated on the second floor. Beautiful decor. Lovely menu with extensive wine list. Loved our steak and lobster tail. We’ll be back!
We really enjoyed our dinner there. The atmosphere had a cool vibe in the house. Next time in Charleston we will definitely dine there and recommend to others.
It was our first time going to Muse...we had the New Year’s Eve dinner. The atmosphere was wonderful our server was right on time. The starters were delicious. I had the Baked Oysters my friend had the Beef Carappio. My entrée was the Fillet Mignon my friend had the Pork Chop. She ate about three bites and said it was too tough and chewy but did not want to complain or send it back. My steak was delicious. We decided to box her pork chop and I would eat it for lunch the next day. I tried to eat it the following day for lunch but found it to be very fatty with a lot of gristle. It was really unedible. I ended up giving it to my dog he seemed to enjoy it. All in all I would say the atmosphere and service was excellent but the food and price not so much.
Awesome! Will come again!
Waiter was incredibly knowledgeable regarding the menu and made wonderful wine pairing suggestions! Food was absolutely delicious and we had such an enjoyable evening!
Awesome rigatoni. Great service beautiful place
We made a last minute reservation when we got into town. We stood at the entry for at least 10 minutes bf we saw the host and we had to approach him about confirming our reservation. I’m not sure what was going on, but he was no where to be found for a while and there were a lot of people standing around wondering what to do.
We’re Italian and from Philly, so we know Italian food. My local shrimp dish was fabulous. The others loved their entrees also. Overall the food was great. The server was super pleasant even though we were her last table and up on the second floor. Those servers are up and down the stairs 10x/hour.
It had a tiny, but cozy bar by the entry, which was super cute.
The ambiance is nice. It’s an old home restored, so a little rickety and a little loud. The outside porches looked like a lot of fun. I would definitely go back. Give it a try!!
Adorable little place hidden off an alley in the middle of historic downtown. Nice place for a glass of wine and an an appetizer. But the food is very mediocre and way overpriced. Our basket of bread arrived RAW. Literally hot dough inside round crust. Mussels appetizer arrived lukewarm after a long wait. Entrees were bland and visually unappealing. Service was very slow and spotty.
Food was great; service so so. Waiter seemed preoccupied. Told us bread would be out of the oven shortly, but we never received it. We were halfway through our entree and he never said anything further about the bread. Also, it was our 50th Anniversary dinner and the only person to acknowledge it was the young man who seated us. Nothing said by our waiter; no complimentary offer of congratulations.
My server was excellent. She did everything a great server does — very attentive without being pushy. The arugula salad with pecans was very good. The pasta pillows with ricotta and spinach were attractive but COLD. She brought them back and, rather than make a new batch, chef reheated the original. They too arrived cold and now tough.
The very young host looked liked he was going to a surfing party. When I suggested to him ( Roman) that he might want to upgrade his attire, he replied “ or not.” I would have fired him on the spot but perhaps he owns the place.
Good food, reasonably priced. Well done
I would not go again. The building is beautiful and our server was delightful but the food is not worth the price tag.
Very nice. Busy there but service was quick!
Great little place tucked away off the beaten path downtown. Very reasonable considering downtown Charleston. I would recommend.
Muse is always a wonderful dining experience. The service is top notch and the food is well presented and very tasty.
This should have been a five star restaurant. Beautiful environment. Very quaint. We were seated in a beautiful room with only three tables. Unfortunately at times our waitress seemed at times to forget we were there.
I ordered the veal scallopini and my wife ordered the sea bass. The sauces on both dishes were OUTSTANDING - truly 10/10 rating and complements to the chef. However my wife’s sea bass was never deboned - there were more bones than meat. My veal was a little tougher than I would expect at a fine restaurant.
Our waitress comped us 2 desserts which were excellent - salted caramel gelato and the chocolate torte.
I would try this restaurant again. The chef produced some of the best flavored sauces I’ve ever tasted. Hopefully the meats/fish will be prepared just as well.
The mussels were fantastic but rest of dinner was mediocre.
Quaint setting with warm ambience and Old world charm. Easily overlooked location. Food was excellent, nothing rushed and plenty of conversation time between courses. The Tiramisu is to die for.. 5*.
We love the atmosphere! Food was great and the service could not have been better!
This is an interesting restaurant. The setting is an old home and the decor inside was reminiscent of a time when dark paint and wall paper were popular. The lighting was soft enough to be pleasant and you could still read the menu. The menu was varied with emphasis on Italian dishes. We both enjoyed seafood dinners. One of scallops on butternut squash risotto the other swordfish over orzo were both presented nicely and were well prepared and seasoned. Our server was just the right combination of attentive and pleasant. Once we chose our dishes they were served in a timely fashion, not rushed, and we still had plenty of time for dessert and be off to the theatre.
Quiet, good food and very pretty restaurant. Great value.
3 scallops and about 3/4 risotto - really?????
I made reservations for my husband's birthday, and it was well worth the wait. The ambiance, food and staff were just wonderful! We are looking forward to visiting again.
First time there. Lovely decor. Friendly female waiter. Excellent bartender. Good wine selection. Had the fresh catch of the day which was an eight on a ten scale. The duck breast appetizer was a nine.
My date and I enjoyed a lovely evening with terrific food and wine.
I would go there again. It is a bit on the expensive side, but it is worth it.
