Murray's Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge Ratings and Reviews
The food, as always, was outstanding. We brought our small printing company employees out for a belated holiday dinner. Unfortunately, our reservation coincided with the Vikings miracle catch and the entire restaurant was filled with obnoxious yelling football idiots. More of a scene I'd expect to see in Buffalo Wild Wings, not in a place like Murray's. Not the restaurant's fault by any stretch, but it did slightly tarnish an otherwise flawless meal.
We go to Murrarys a lot and love the staff and food. We request Anthony because we love and know him and he is very good however we have sat with a few people and have not been let down. We loved the football ending there tonight and I love how friendly everyone is with my 4 year old. He is not the most well behaved boy out there :-p
For a specialty steakhouse I was expecting something special. Food quality was good (not great) and for $65 per steak I expected to have top service. We had to pour our own wine, dirty dishes were left on the table for most of the meal, crumbs were not removed few m table after first course, etc. This may seem picky but when the bill for 4 people is $500 (and one only had a salad), I expected more.
My wife and I had an anniversary dinner at Murray's. This was our first time dining there. The food and service were top notch. The Caesar Salad is served cold and with a light amount of dressing, very good! Our steaks were delicious. The Old Fashioned with rhubarb bitters was excellent. Great experience!
I was celebrating with my family this night. The evening started off great as we ordered drinks and appetizers. The appetizers arrived.
I looked over to my left I noticed the busboy setting the table. As he was setting the table a wine glass fell to the floor breaking and sending broken glass flying onto our table. As I looked down I noticed glass in my food along with my family’s plates. I waitress was called over to the table where she apologized. Right in the middle of your dinner the waitress changed over the entire table cloth. With us still sitting there. It was very embarrassing and quite awkward to say the least. The was our first time at Murray’s. I will not recommend this establishment to any one. This should have been handled way differently. It ruined the whole mood of our dinner.
Most importantly our meals were fantastically tasty. We were on a weekend fun trip. We wanted to be sure to taste some of Minneapolis best food. Murray’s was one of the places we ventured to. High end, upscale great tasting meal. I loved their butter knife steak !
The ambiance is very cool and host was friendly and courteous. Food was phenomenal. One of the best steaks I've ever had the chance to eat. Have eaten at many steak houses but this one is one of the best. Had the bone in fillet mignon. By far the best fillet mignon I've ever experienced. Will look forward to coming back when in the Twin Cities again. Thanks for the dining experience.
Its been a while since I was last at Murrays and a lot has changed since then. The bar and main dinning area have been redesigned and decorated. The biggest change, was the food. They definitely upped their game and are now on par with the other big steak houses in town. They did manage to keep some of their old school charm through the renovation. Highly recommend their wagyu strips.
We had an excellent time at Murray's celebrating work anniversaries. We ordered off of the dinner menu at lunch and the steaks were done to perfection. Everyone raved over the quality of the food and service for the luncheon. The rib-eye and fillets' could not have been tastier. I was a little disappointed that they did not have their famous raspberry pie when it was time to order dessert, but the chocolate cake was excellent, and when I did get home the take out order I had for my wife was missing the augratin potatoes. That will not stop me from returning soon.
My fiancé and I started our meals with impeccably made cocktails. The food was cooked to perfection and a great wine pairing was offered. We would say that it was the best steak we have ever had. The service was on point. Our waitress made us feel so special. We will definitely be returning soon!
An overpriced mediocre steakhouse which coasts on its historical pedigree rather than updating its food or improving its tacky decor or overcrowded ambience.
Critical tip: unless you tell them not to, they use a ridiculously salty flavor mixture to slather their steaks to a point of tasting like nothing but that.
If you like steak, ask for it without the flavoring. Better yet, go somewhere else. The steaks themselves are top notch, but you could get them just as good plenty of other places that aren’t price gouging.
I’m all for paying for something special. This is not special.
