Murray's Cheese Bar
We love cheese, but our menu also features seasonal specials, high-quality meat and produce and fantastic happy hour specials during the week. Join us for dinner seven nights a week or weekend brunch next time you’re passing through Greenwich Village and see why we’re so in love with what we serve
The Mac and Cheese was amazing!! I would go back again and again for that!!
Absolutely amazing! Everything we ordered was delicious. Must get the French Revolution cheese plate and Burrata. Peter was so kind and made the experience even better!
Recommended to by Patricia from Jams, 1 Hotels, as it appears she’s a fellow cheese lover, and the bottom line, I wish they’re was Murray’s Cheese Bar LA!
Excellent Mac n cheese and grilled cheese
Great place in the West Village; best spot to taste local and international cheeses and cheese based plates. The Murray’s melt is a must!
Great service and HH all night on Monday! Food was a bit pricy but ok to split a few plates between two.
Overpriced small portions Service and the food were good -- Not worth what I paid though
Loved! Ordered "The New Yorker" cheese plate which the spiced pairings included with each cheese were all delicious. This was my first time here, and I will definitely be back!
Excellent food and the cheese plate with selection made by the Cheese Monger was one of the best we’ve ever had. Our service issue was from our waiter. He greeted us at the door and seated us at a table that was very crooked. We asked if we could have the table at the window and he said there was a reservation for that table. I told him we had a reservation (the tables were the same size). He said it was for a larger party and they’d be there in 5 minutes. Whatever - we let it go. We love the food there so, no big. Well, no one ever took that table. Not sure what his issue was, but it was the one thing that soured it for us.
I still really recommend this place. We’ve eaten there several times and the cheese classes are so much fun.
This was my favorite cheese wine and cheese place after Bourgeois Pig in east village closed. But now this place is off the list. We sat and ordered a bottle of wine, pasta and the largest $80 cheese tower on the menu. We told we waitress we really wanted a meat and cheese tower so she said we allow up to three meats on the tower but we deducted cheeses. We agreed. She asked if there was any cheese we did not want, we said the inky request we had was to please include a blue cheese. When the waitress delivered the tower, there were no meats. We told them we thought it was not what we ordered and she took it back to add the meat. We also asked if we could swap one of the cheese, since it was cheddar. I know she asked us if we didn’t want any specific cheese I’ve just NEVER seen a professional cheese plate come out with cheddar. Just never expected such a basic cheese to come out. Anyway, we were waiting. A longggg time. (We waited long for fresh plates between the pasta, we waited long for silverware, waited long for everything) So now, after like an hour of just wasted time over a cheese plate order, the cheese guy from behind the bar comes over with the biggest attitude to tell us that he curated the cheese tower, that’s he’s been working there a very long time and that we need to take the cheese plate how it comes or don’t order it. Um excuse me but we inky requested the meat because we were told we could. AND this is my 6/7th time at Murray’s. I’ve always mixed the cheese tower. His attitude was disgusting. The service was crap. I will never go back! They ruined our entire dinner.
The Mac n Cheese is AMAZING. Definitely recommend. Service is a little slow, but I will come back for sure because the food is pretty good.
I arrived before my friend and was seated right away at a great people watching table in the front window. It was very busy, so the service was a little slow but very pleasant. We split a beet salad which was good, then each got macaroni and cheese - one classic, one with pulled pork. Both were absolutely delicious.
Food and service was great! The only complaint we had was that the lobster Mac and cheese was a little fishy tasting as if the lobster was made earlier in the day but it was still tasty. We are definitely coming back!
Mac n cheese was PRIME. For a more nicer dinner, this is your place. Expect to pay a little more, but definitely worth it.
Excellent , amazing food great service loved it. Would highly recommend to go check it out food is fresh and delish.
We always bring out of town guests to Murray’s. The plates are easy to charge and we are never disappointed
You just can’t beat the meat and cheese plates here and pair with a glass of wine. Great ambiance for a date as well.
The food was great as usual but the service was lacking this time around.
The appetizer took 40 minutes to arrive. And the brussel sprouts were burned.
The drinks were warm (beer and wine)
The entree took over an hour and the macaroni was highly disappointing. Needed some more seasoning.
They also wanted an additional $5 for the cheddar for the burger.
Cheese heaven. Cute, small space made comfortable. Amazing selection, informed servers, great way to spend an afternoon.
Such a fun place. My husband and I enjoyed a nice dinner at Murray's Cheese Bar. The food was excellent and the service was quick and friendly. I would highly recommend this energetic place. I look forward to going back again.
Was amazing great cool nice bartender not too expensive as a try to fill the 50 word count
My family has always enjoyed this restaurant , but it had been a very long time since we I last ate here. One thing that we used to enjoy most is that in addition to cheese plates and other interesting and tasty fare, they also served delicious and creative sandwiches which included cheese, but were not mostly cheese. We also enjoyed their great homemade sodas. So we were disappointed to find that both the sandwiches and sodas were gone from the menu. In fact, we found many of the menu items were heavy on cheese and less so other ingredients. My daughter ordered the Mac & Cheese with a lemonade and I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich using Gruyere cheese. Both were very tasty, but so much cheese! It was really heavy and we both felt pretty sluggish after eating what seemed like a half pound of cheese each. I would like to see them bring back a few items where cheese is an accent to the dish rather than the main focus. This way, people like me who really love cheese will be able to enjoy it and still be able to walk away from the table comfortably.
Mac and cheese was excellent. Cheese plates were good with decent portion sizes.
Classic Mac and Cheese was delicious! Also, staff was very helpful when we asked what cheeses weren't pasteurized. Can't wait to go back!
Amazing selection of cheese, excellent wine list and the Raclette truffle Mac and cheese was to die for. 10/10 would recommend!
Festive, fun, restaurant with a focus on cheese. Attentive service with a smile. Great drinks. Yummy cheese!
Our Server was completely disinterested in helping us. She was too busy standing around on her phone.
The cheese/meat plate was very good but I’d stick with buying your cheese at the store and skip the restaurant
Happy hour deals are good. But don’t expect to stay and catch up with friends because they will ask you to leave as soon as your 2 hours are up. Incredibly rude and unprofessional staff basically kicked us out of the restaurant even though we were trying to order meals. We were looking forward to our meals that were not allowed to be order. I would avoid if your looking to have a leisurely happy hour and or dinner. Host does not let you know there is a time limit on tables upon arriving.
The food was so good! nice ambiance and very nice crew! Thanks much!
Overall disappointing brunch experience. It took ages for our waitress to come over when we first sat down - the table next to us actually got up to go find her because they had the same experience. She didn't write down our orders and both of our eggs came out incorrect. They were nice about fixing the issues, but it generally felt like there was no concern about customer experience here. Cheese is good, but the food isn't worth going back for with so many other great options in the area.
We went for a leisurely Sunday brunch. The restaurant was playing Heavy Metal music really loud! What the heck?! Finally we convinced the manager to put on something more appropriate to the age of his guests and the style of the restaurant. He seemed offended. It was clear the staff is there for themselves not for us. A shame. We love Murrays next door.
We enjoyed the cheese and charcuterie board but the chocolate fondue was disappointing. We expected more fresh fruit and maybe some marshmallow? The pieces of cake were too soft and fell apart in the chocolate.
Really some of the best mac and cheese grilled cheese sandwiches and fondue you'll find on the planet
it was alright not what we expected
Nice neighborhood place if you love cheese. Ambiance was fine, limited menu, a little pricey. Food is quite rich, but that's cheese.
I had made reservations with a confirmation number and everything. Then I got there and they didn’t have it and gave me a slight attitude that it was somehow my fault I did not confirm although I had a confirmation number email and had the reservation in my app still valid. I also ordered a Mac and cheese to go and I stated to please have it made when we are about finished with our meal as it is for my husband at home.
They brought it out before our entrees came out so the Mac and cheese was just cold by the time I brought it home. The food was great but the service could have been better.
There was a group of 5 of us celebrating a friends birthday. The wine and cheese was awesome. Recommend it.
This place is awesome
I never write reviews but have to especially since I found this restaurant on a top 15 list of nyc restaurants. First, three of us were crammed into a corner at a table for two with no room to fit everything. Then our waiter was incredibly inattentive and didn’t really think we were worth his time which was totally irritating. He did not check on us and left us sitting there for long stretches of time. He forgot to bring drinks several times and then brought two of our three meals and left. Then we waited 15 minutes before asking a very kind waitress/hostess to check what was going on. She stepped up, got our missing meal & comped it, brought us 3 glasses of wine, and a free dessert. The waitress and the busboy helped to turn things around, but our original waiter never came back...
