Murray Circle Ratings and Reviews
It's been a couple of years since we ate at Murray Circle and the food quality is not performing well. The drinks were fine. The service was terrific and we found the food both boring and too expensive. Foe some reason they split the cauliflower soup between 2 people? They couldn't tell the flavor and there was a small amount in each bowl. I had the foie gras. We all love foie gras but not this time. It was way too strong and I took 1 bite and passed the rest to my friends. They each ate a bite or two and said the same thing. No thanks. The two other guests has the Bavette steak which they liked. It was tasty, tender and thinly sliced with wild mushrooms. I has the black cod in parchment. The fish was cooked just fine. The vegetables were not. They were tough and hard and needed a bunch more cooking and it was a very sloppily presented dish. Not much flavor and a wedge of lemon but no sauce at all. It really didn't work for me anyway. The two desserts were OK but they were trying too hard. Sorry. I love the restaurant esthetics but not the food. Sad. We won't be back for a long time. The dishes are too expensive not to be decent and there aren't that many choices in the first place.
Our waiter was outstanding. The best any of the four of us have had in years. The bread was fabulous. The cauliflower soup was good but the flavor very vague. I ordered it because I like cauliflower but it could almost have been anything. The same for the dessert we shared. A miso burnt chocolate affair with no distinctive flavor, least of all chocolate. Loved my fresh cod cooked in parchment. Those who ordered the fish stew said good but not great. We also ordered sunchokes as an experiment. I wanted to see what rye cream was. Again, nothing jumped out at me. We spent quite a bit if money and had a great time but will probably scale back back going forward and choose places with specific cuisines.
We have been to Murray's Circle many times and it is always excellent. We had a very private and cozy corner table near the fireplace celebrating a birthday. The service was excellent, and food was creative and delicious. Wine recommendation was right on par. Thank you!
Fantastic and enjoyable experience, one our party of 4 will always remember. They hit a perfect balance on all aspects of great food, presentation, environment and service . A rare find in Marin. Have the tasting menu and spend a glorious night at Murray Circle.
Good restaurant in a great setting. Located at Cavallo Point, Fort Baker, the restaurant itself doesn’t have much of a view but the surrounding area is spectacular. The food was good if a little pricey. Everyone there was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. There is also a nice bar adjacent to the dining room. The bar also serves food (same menu), has a cozy fireplace and a pleasant overall vibe. Wouldn’t necessarily recommend Murray Circle for the food but would most certainly return for the scenery and ambiance.
Good great, BUT once again...service issue, arrived on-time for my reserved OT reserv that included online note for a 2-top table sitting across from each other...but NO, hostess says they did NOT do that...we wait a bit, pretty uncomfortable & indifferent hostess, then our pre-requested 2-top was found...then all good. What a BAD & sad way to be greeted...like a funeral!
This restaurant is stuffy and does not have a festive environment. Our waitress was beyond rude, and until we complained she was unwilling to make any accommodations for us on New Years Eve. We were able to finally switch menus to the Bar menu and order some dishes for vegetarian eaters. I really wish that they would change the vibe and energy at this restaurant because it is in such a fabulous setting! I would go back if that were to change. And there is no excuse for bad service! A server should always greet with a smile and make an effort to make a
guest feel special.
Sorry to say all four of us were very underwhelmed by the food. Not bad, just not as good as we were expecting or hoping for. And our server seemed to be having an inattentively off day ... long waits, mixing up who ordered what, etc. But the location and view are spectacular ... and that seems to be what one is paying for.
We have been to Murray Circle many times and love the ambiance and the lovely spot that is so magical.
We ate there for two dinners at Xmas this year and found the food to be "off" Fish was fishy and preparation was not as good as usual. The Short Ribs were dry and overcooked.
Will of course go back, but the prices are exorbitant and should be considered too much money for the product.
WE HAD GREAT WAITSTAFF WHO SUGGESTED THE TASTING MENU WITH WINE PAIRINGS. WE EVEN GOT OUR 12 YEAR OLD ON BOARD WITH THAT SUGGESTION WHEN HE HEARD THERE WERE TWO DESERTS. WE ATE IN A SMALL COZY ROOM WITH FIREPLACE. VERY COZY AND COMFORTABLE. FOOD AND WINE WERE TERRIFIC. STAYED THE NIGHT AND WENT FOR A WALK ON THE WATERFRONT IN THE MORNING.
