We weren’t given silverware and our food was delivered. When I requested silverware I received some only after the server complained about my asking for it.
My husband ordered a 23 oz beer and got a 16 oz beer. The server said they were out of large glasses. My husband had to chase down the server to get a second beer. Again the server complained that “I ordered it and if it’s not up I can’t deliver it”.
Food was descent but I’ve had better service at McDonald’s.
Our waitress was excellent and very friendly, however one of us ordered the chicken sandwich, and the chicken came out completely raw in the middle. This was unacceptable and disgusting. Thankfully, our waitress was responsive and felt terrible, but I do not trust the chef and would not eat here again.
Great meal! We always have had a great experience here...thank you!
Super cool ambiance.
My wife and I enjoyed a nice evening dinner celebrating our anniversary
The, dining experience was wonderful!! Adam was expectional waiter making sure that our drinks were full, keeping us informed on food , was coming checking too see if everything was all right. Our food was o. K. My wife's skirt steak taco was dry and her tortilla was charred, taking away all flavor. But to Murphy,s credit it was a test run and Adam took the taco off our check. I had the buffalo meatloaf it was tasty, but it could have been a little bit warmer on the plate. But overall the service was absolutely terrific, I would try this place again and definitely give them another chance. Sincerely Dale Hagen.
A little hit and miss: great tasting food, missing ingredient on Portobello, asparagus potatoes ( the Portobello's :-(
- chicken was warm, potatoes and vegetables were cold-plating inconsistent.
Request by guest not filled (server was asked if dessert could be swapped for soup); servers seemed overworked (way too many tables he had to deal with)
Their normally great food was disappointing for Restaurant Week (we had the beer and cheese soup, lobster Mac and cheese, s’more dessert). The soup was almost...gritty? Croutons were an odd touch. The lobster Mac was alright but again, not great. The s’more dessert was *very* smoky flavored, not in good way in that it was overpowering and didn’t pair well with the sweeter cheesecake and graham cracker crumble. It wasn’t a campfire smoky taste, it was...odd. Overall I wouldn’t recommend any the dishes we tried that day.
The waitstaff were good, service was good, their new food was a miss.
Food was great and we hope some of the dishes from the Test Kitchen menu and the Restaurant Week menu would make it on Murphy's everyday menu, in particular the Tequila-Lime Marinated Chicken White Chili and the Pan Sauteed Chicken with rosemary potatoes, asparagus & portabella mushrooms. The cocktails were interesting, too, especially Chocolate Covered Cherry martini and Spanish and Moroccan Coffee.
I was SO disappointed because it was my daughter's birthday and I had brought in an ice cream cake the day before as a SURPRISE....I also made a table reservation as recommended. When we arrived the stupid host asked the reservation name and then proceeded to loudly ask, 'Didn't somebody bring a cake in under that name?' I just stared at him as my daughter was standing right next to me. He then stupidly asked the same question again loudly and that's when I answered him in a not so nice way that he had blown the surprise. No apology or anything as he seated us.....
Our server Adam was amazing and saved the day even though he couldn't find the cake for awhile...he provided candles, plates, etc...Thank you Adam!
So beware of any 'surprise ' birthday celebrations....
The only good food here is the fried pickles. ....................................................................
Our waiter was great! We asked him for suggestions and he knew everything about the menu and what sides would pair well with the entrée. We were all very pleased with our food. The drinks were also very good, we had bloody marys and a local brew.
Excellent food, good drink options, fun vibe. Managed to be a good option for families, dates, and sports watching all at the same time. We had a little trouble with our order, but the waiter and manager were more than willing to make it right. Would definitely go back.
The food was ok, but the way our server treated us ruined the whole meal. Not a people person at all!! You ask for anything he looked put out to go get. In town for visit , but would never go back because of this man.
Not recommended. Four of us had dinner here two nights ago.
We ordered salads, burgers, fish and chips, meatloaf. For dessert: carrot cake/coffee.
Food was quite good with the highest marks for the meatloaf and carrot cake. The latter was exceptional. The other items were good, not great.
The salads were all served with balsamic vinegar (not vinaigrette) so it was tough to get down. The waitress ignored specific requests for the salads: ranch dressing in one case, no onions in another case. She brought the requested additional tartar sauce for the fish after a lengthy delay, at which point the fish was eaten.
The cocktails were well made, the beer was cold.
The service was harried and inept. The poor service marred what would otherwise have been a pretty good meal.
We, alas, won't be back.
Service really ruined the experience at Murphy’s tonight.
By far, my favorite place in Rapid City!! Always take my visitors to dine here, hwve held meetings, birthday parties, and going away parties here.
Great food, fantastic service, a really good dining experience.
Fun service good portions nice size servicers friendly and good
We were on a tour and made reservations for Murphy's based on reviews we read on line before our trip started. The food was great, especially the Bison Meatloaf. I would highly recommend making Murphy's a place to pop in and enjoy. We enjoyed it so much, we went there 3 times in two days!
Great beer and wine selection, very creative and extensive menu, the food surpassed our expectations. It was tasty and nice presentation. We were in Rapid City 3 nights and ate there twice. Went there because of the reviews and we weren't disappointed. Highly recommend it.
Great menu with lots of different types of food that are unique and original in addition to the normal pub food. We had an attentative and great waitress. She offered some great recommendations which we took and were very happy with. Highly recommend it. We are going back again tonight on our final day in town.
No thanks. Idk why anyone would like it. I had the bbq pulled pork, very spicey, the coleslaw was disgusting. Tried the meatloaf which tasted like hamburger. A waste of money. Hardle saw the waiter.
We took our daughters here while vacationing in the area. The service (Bryce was our server) was excellent and the food was delicious. We had the dirty chips and the sausage sampler for starters, salmon salad, open face meatloaf sandwich, pulled pork sandwich and the kids mac & cheese and everyone was very pleased. Lovely patio.
Business meal for 10 people. Since private room was not available, we were offered the patio and took that. Setup was done before our arrival and quickly greeted. Meal arrived promptly and waiter was cordial, but not attentive after delivering food -- possibly because he could see that we were in discussion and did not want to interrupt, but we needed catsup that we had to go inside to get and took a long time for drink refills. Still overall experience was great and we would return. On a personal note, I dropped my cloth napkin and when I went to retrieve it, it was covered with dog hair. Are dogs allowed on the patio dining area?
We ordered drinks. Later we ordered appetizers and dinner. Appetizers were served before the drinks. Server didn't pay attention.
We had a 445 reservation. Arrived at 4:40 and hostess told us the server was slammed and we would have to wait but not too long. We were seated at 5:05 and at 5:13 when no one had even acknowledged our presence, I got up and asked for a manager- turned out I was talking to my server and he said he would be right over- when he came over a few minutes later, he gave us water- we had already taken menus from hostess station so we asked to order right away- I asked for the salmon, waiter said they were out of it- we took it as a sign an politely excused ourselves. Went to Dakota steakhouse and had a DELICIOUS and well tended meal!
The food is really good. Service can be hit or miss. Great atmosphere, but a little loud at times.
Our go to local eatery for fun, lively atmosphere and excellent choices. A large full menu, always excellent food and good selection of beers and wine. I've never been served a bad meal. The servers are terrific. Obviously time is spent hiring and training their staff and there is little turnover. The restaurant and patio are always full and full of energy.
Murphy's is always a great spot to take visitors. Good service, good food and great ambience.
You get a lot of food for the price, but my meatloaf was dry.
The waitress wasn't attentive, and we had to stop her multiple times to ask her for something that she forgot more than once.
Food was good but it took forever to get my main course. I think they were slammed because the Travel Channel was filming earlier in the evening, but still...
The food was unbelievable what was better than the food was the service! Our waiter was amazing, the food came out so quickly. A definite place to come back to time & time again.
We loved this place. Great food and an extensive selection of bottled and draft beer. This is a restored old brick building with lots of room and seating at tables and the bar and feels very comfortable.
We love the food at Murphy's. Never had a bad meal. My favorite is the Shepard's Pie but the Buffalo Meatloaf is a strong second. Nice selection of beer on tap also. Staff are fun to deal with.
Good food, but the service was HORRIBLE. Went to the bar several times to get our drinks because our server was MIA most of the time. Different people brought our food out (and at different times) and was confused where it went because the ticket was missing a table number. For a table of 12 she missed out on a healthy tip.
The food was great. My eldest son found a review for greatest grilled cheese so we came. He was happy and enjoyed the sandwich. The food is great. It was a great family dinner.
Lovely meal, great atmosphere and service, and excellent beer selection.
We were just passing through Rapid City and had a great experience! Our server was terrific. The food was very good and family friendly. They have a few good local brews on tap as well. If we are ever back in town, we will be back in a heartbeat!
Best ranch ever! Also, love the decor!
