The Bistro at Muriel’s Jackson Square offers New Orleans classics like Gumbo, BBQ Shrimp, Oysters "Muriel", Turtle soup, Fried Gulf Shrimp Po-boy, Crabmeat Imperial, Shrimp Remoulade & contemporary Creole cuisine like Pecan Crusted Drum & Wood Grilled Tuna while the Courtyard Bar is the perfect place to drop by for drinks & appetizers. The Séance Lounge is the place for a relaxed, comfortable meeting before or after dining. Comprised of two areas, The Outer & The Inner Séance, the Séance also tells the story of a mystic & checkered past. The Outer Séance addresses the New Orleans era of Storyville & when Muriel's Jackson Square was one of the French Quarter's best bordellos! The Inner Séance is the preferred domain of the resident ghost, Pierre Antoine Lepardi Jourdan, & is the perfect spot for an intimate conversation & a drink amongst its plush surroundings.

Context: we were long time NOLA residents and return at least twice yearly for family / business. Had to return appetizer (Baked Oysters) for undercooked, poor taste. Replacement appetizer (Mushrooms with Gnocci) was better, like a deconstructed mushroom soup , but actual mushroom pieces were not generous. Signature entree of Pecan Crusted Baby Drum did not blend well with spinach, sauce and chopped Pecans base. Plus the granular texture of the fish topping was jarring to the taste. The room captain personally expedited our dishes and talked to us multiple times kabout our disappointing meal, tried to convince us this was a one-off experience and unusual (felt like he was trying to partially blame us for being picky unlike the rest of the happy diners)

We enjoyed a drink up on the balcony before our 6:15pm reservation which was a great introduction. Really lovely table setting and presentation. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. The servers gave excellent recommendations and were very attentive even with it being quite busy. Overall it was a really nice experience which was a pleasant surprise for a touristy location.

We were greeted nicely and shown to our table immediately. Travis and Michelle looked after us incredibly well, keeping pur iced water topped up always. The selection of reading glasses was most helpful when having forgotten your own. We had the table d’hote menu. I have to say the portion sizes were enormous (I had the pork). The quality and flavour was wonderful though. It is a very popular spot and I do believe the whole service seems rushed as they have to cater for numerous seatings, thereby reducing the intimacy and personability of the restaurant somewhat. All in all a great experience.

Food was delicious and service was en pointe. The prix fix menu was an awesome deal for quite a lot of authentic food!

Enjoyed Muriel's. Southern charm and good Southern food. Staff very helpful and friendly. Just one suggestion -- tell us a little bit more about your ghost -- or include a short info panel on your menu.

Brunch was delicious and service was excellent. However, I was a bit disappointed in the jazz...the musicians played for about 20 minutes after I arrived and then took a break of almost an hour. Maybe stagger the musicians?

I could have died and gone to heaven after eating the goat cheese crepes with the shrimp remoulade and had no regrets, but then I would have missed out on the bread pudding which was divine. Their prix fix menu was a great deal, my wife and I dined for under $100 not including tip, which would have been tough using the a la carte menu, and we're able to try a number of different flavor panels--she had the turtle soup and the panko crusted baby drum, I had the "bayou baisse" which was basically a spicy tomato-based seafood fricasse over orzo pasta. Magnificent!

Muriel’s came as a recommendation and what a good recommendation it was! The food was wonderful. The goat cheese and shrimp crepes were beyond delicious! The desserts were decadent and the wait staff was very attentive. I’d recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Food was ok. Service was good except for our main waiter who became snooty once we ordered beer over wine. Needs improvement on beer selection.

Classic New Orleans venue, right in the heart of the French Quarter. Very lively, but conversation was easy.

Nothing disappointing here - a great all round experience. In our party, we had large, fresh salads to start, then went on to excellent main dishes - bayoubaisse and seared tuna. Desserts and drinks did not disappoint. Only slight negatives, dishes were at times over salted and the bread was unimpressive.

Service was terrific with our having a food waiter (Kris) as well as a wine waiter both of whom we always available and courteous.

We wanted to order seconds, but it wasn't in the budget. I'd eat there everyday if I could. From start to finish it was a wonderful evening.

Turtle soup isn’t what it used to be! In the past, this was my favorite stomping ground for turtle soup. This visit my husband and I both had a large cup (they call it a bowl and it’s $9)....There was very little turtle in the recipe. Mostly tomatoes and it was overly flourged. Quite disappointing! On the positive side, I had a wonderful steak salad, which was prepared perfectly with a generous portion of greens and steak. My husband gumbo was also absent of much seafood. I think the message here is if you order any kind of seafood or stew, make sure you’re getting plenty of the ‘main’ Ingredient; or ask them to take it back and replenish. The upstairs patio which faces the French quarter and Jackson Square, is a lovely place for a drink. Sadly, they do not serve food there. Sunday brunch features a three-piece jazz ensemble which is always nice.
