Mura at North Hills Ratings and Reviews
Mura is one of our favorite spots for sushi in the Triangle. The ambiance is better than most, and there are plenty of different seating options offered, including private rooms with traditional Japanese service. This occasion was my birthday, and Mura was on point as usual. The sushi was fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. Both server and GM were friendly and attentive. Screaming O rocks!
I must say this was my second time eating at Mura. Once for lunch and once for dinner. The service was impeccable! I, nor my wife needed to ask for anything unless it was not common. The waiter was always there to top off our drink and ask if we needed anything else. It's a shame I cannot remember his name. Needless to say his tip was well deserved. I will definitely be going back in the near future.
My husband and I took our son for sushi. His request for his NCSU Parent's Weekend dinner.
I found the restaurant using Open Table based on its high customer ratings. Those high ratings are very well deserved and the food was just amazingly delicious. So, so good. The service was also superb and the subdued atmosphere made our evening extra special.
Lots of interesting and unique sushi rolls on the menu. We tried four different ones as recommended by the waitress and all were outstanding. It was a nice evening so we were able to sit outside on the patio. Would definitely return next time we are in Raleigh.
This was our first visit to Mura. We ordered the Volcano Shrimp to start, and it was a tasty choice. Very similar to Bang Bang Shrimp at Bonefish. Atmosphere is more upscale than average. Sushi antd sake choices are extensive. We opted for Teppanyaki preparation of chicken and shrimp, $25 and $23 respectively. This seemed a bit pricey, but portions were large and both meals were delicious. We would return.
We had a group of four at dinner last Friday evening. Mura had just rolled out a new cocktail menu, and we were excited to try it, but didn't have the best experience with the mixed drinks. The pear vodka/elderflower concoction was not pleasing by any stretch, and the moscow mules (not on special, but a good go-to) were completely overwhelmed by lime juice. The rose wine they recommended was great! The sushi was good like always, although our favorite dish was the pork belly sliders appetizer - by far. Our server was a bit green. He clearly forgot to put in our orders for blue marlin and striped marlin nigiri, which we reminded him of toward the end of the meal. We said he could cancel it, but he insisted it was on its way, and it was served...after the check. I usually am very forgiving with reviews but Mura has been around long enough and there are so many good sushi options around for the same price or less. We expected better.
We are frequent, but not super regular diners at Mura. We enjoy the fresh sushi and sashimi, the convenience, the ambiance and the staff. The choice of outside dining or inside appeals to us, as do the private dining rooms for family events. Mura is not cheap, but we feel we get good values for the bucks.
Really good selection of sushi, but offered alternatives for less enthusiastic sushi folks. Had outdoor seating. Easy very good food and served in an appetizing style. Offered private rooms with rice paper doors and traditional Japanese floor/pillow seating which was very interesting. The interior, in general, was a little too much of a mishmash of black lacquer and mirrors - cliche and little lower quality. While our server was very friendly, she lacked knowledge and was over rehearsed with a script.
My wife and I went here on our date night (without the kids) and had a wonderful time. It was quiet, the service and ambience we're fantastic. Our waitress, Marie, took wonderful care of us. We can't wait to come back. The food was more than just good, it was an experience.
A class act establishment with quality service, food and atmosphere. Parking is typically easy with an underground deck nearby. The street venue mall is elegant and provides interesting people-watching while dining on the patio. Zabuton, sushi bar and regular dining booths/tables are also available.
Our experience started with easy Open Table reservations - which they notably were aware and had our seats marked "reserved" - even though they weren't overbooked or extremely busy. The traffic was steady and plenty of bustling waiters were working.
Our waiter Jacob was not over-hurried and took time to greet us and explain the special of the day and other menu items, especially sushi roll choices. I told him the style and flavor profile of the wine I liked and his selection was spot on. He also had a great sense of humor.
Our meal was a work of art on the plate and was terrific. They have a wasabi relish that no other sushi place I know makes - it is fresh and very spicy! My husband likes spicy choices as well and the recommended sushi rolls did not disappoint. The Sunday "buy one get another 1/2 off" special was a bonus perk that evening.
A very dapper manager popped by. It's always nice when they stop by to inquire if all is to our liking. He recommended a terrific dessert; green tea brulee, which indeed was green - but fantastic.
I recommend this restaurant enough.
i almost feel bad writing the review but our first visit was a comedy of errors. first we waited 20 minutes to get the bottle of wine we ordered and when we did it was the wrong one, another 10-15 minutes and we got what we ordered. Our server, Marie, was sweet but apparently the head chef was out - at least this is what both she and the manager blamed everything on. Appetizers were delicious and timely. we then ordered entrees. My wife's arrived first (sushi) and my steak arrived about the time my wife was finishing her entree!!! it gets better, steak order medium arrived rare/raw/cold. I sent back, 15 min later manager delivered steak - again RARE.. i asked them to cancel order and send the bill. The manager comped the appetizers. This restaurant HAS to be better than this but all because a chef was out??!??? We will give them one more shot before crossing off our list.
Excellent experience for our first visit to this restaurant. The service was impeccable and the sushi was fresh with delicious and distinct flavors. The table for 4 was rather small so I recommend a booth if you are ordering more than a small dish and a glass of water.
