Mura at North Hills
The pricing has become much higher well they quality of food has gone down. One of our guests had the beef rib teriyaki, and the meat was sliced and overcooked. The white rice on the plate was so sticky and dry that it was impossible to separate. Some of the sushi was fine, the other pieces were cut to be thick and tough. This is our second visit there in 3 months, and will probably be our last. The food used to be exceptional. Something has happened.
Fantastic experience here! The service was great- both of the people helping our table were friendly and professional. The wine was exceptional- it took me by surprise. All of the food we ordered was delicious- the whole table was silent when we started eating because we were having moments with how great our choices were. When we had a mixup with one of the orders, it was remedied quickly. Truly rare to have such a great experience these days. Will definitely recommend and return.
Mura has the best sushi we've been able to find in the Triangle area and we've tried many restaurants.
Meet with old friend
Mediocre experience at best. The food is decent, but doesn’t warrant the price. Wait staff was pretty inattentive.
It took over an hour for a lunch for 2. We had to get park of the meal to go
Great service and our absolute best quality sushi in the area.
I always celebrate my birthday here even though we visit fairly often. Always delicious!
A colleague called in a bottle of champagne and they could not remember who called it in so we thanked the wrong people. Aside from this embarrassment it was good.
My wife and I celebrated 13 years of marriage and we both love sushi so we got a boat and it was scrumptious!!!! Mura has nicer let us down, we love the restaurant and the exceptional service!!!
Sushi was good.
The drinks were too strong and not good. The food was tasteless. Getting teppanyaki and having tasteless noodles. The appetizers were just so-so. Waitress had blood shot eyes when she first came over and almost groggy throughout the whole meal. Would not recommend or revisit.
For the second time in a row, we waited an hour for our food in a restaurant that had very few customers. Quality (and quantity) has deteriorated. Used to be one of my favorites.
Arrived and sat approximately 5 minutes before our reservation time. The waitress came within a couple minutes at which point we placed our drink and food order all at once. We received our drinks about 15min later, with the ice mostly melted. An hour passed without receiving our food and without any drink refills. At this point I just requested the food to go, and I received the food about 10minutes later. I took the food outside to meet my family who walked out to get food for our daughter. We sat at an outside table to eat the food within minutes of receiving it. We ordered Hibachi Chicken and kids chicken with noodles, none of the chicken was cut. Also ordered four sushi rolls. Two rolls that are usually served cold were room temp and falling apart. The hurricane roll was soggy, room temp, and sitting in a pool of grease. The Screaming O was completely covered in spicy mayo and eel sauce, to the point you could not even see the sushi or taste it.
My husband really likes sushi but I don’t eat sushi. If you don’t eat sushi the options are very limited. I had the hibachi filet and it wasn’t very good at all. The meat wasn’t tender. The vegetables were bland and limp. The fried rice was awful which made the tiny portion they give seem okay. I won’t go back. My husband likes the sushi but he said there are other places he likes just as much.
It was also way too cold inside for me to enjoy the ambiance. I will say that the noise level was good but the decor seems super outdated.
We did have a very nice waitress who was attentive and friendly without being too intrusive. I really don’t want to go back.
We enjoyed our visit to Mura. We ordered two drinks a piece (4 total), an appetizer, and three sushi rolls. Our server was wonderful. The drinks were good, although not worth the hefty price tag they carried in our opinion. Same for the food. We had no complaints in terms of how good the food was, but thought it was overpriced, especially compared to BOGO deals available at many area sushi restaurants with the same quality and variety of sushi.
It took about 50 minutes to get our food. It was Mother's Day, I chose Mura expecting a nice experience. The place was empty, which should be my first clue. The restaurant itself looked unkept and the floors were dirty. Disappointed. Not going back.
Last minute decision to eat at Mura to celebrate son home from college. First, it should have been an omen that they had full availability last minute on a Saturday night. Second omen was them being out of my first and second choices of beer (What? There's a Total Wine across the street! Give a busboy a $100 and send him over to re-stock for crying out loud.). Third bad omen was lack of attention by any server and/or manager wandering by our table. Our son, who only drinks water, sat for 20 minutes w/o any water and my wife and I were water free for a good 10 minutes as well (we know this fact based on the exact time I received a weather alert text coinciding with his final sip). And it's not like we were not sitting at the kitchen door where EVERYONE walked past us and our barren water glasses. We kept thinking OUR server would eventually pass us and alas, she did not. Every single server walked past us with water jug in hand and not one stopped and offered water. The three omens should have foretold of the horror that was to follow in the form of my son being served raw chicken. Fortunately, he started eating on the thinner portion of the teppanyaki prepared breast and was just getting to the raw part when I noticed a slightly under-cooked slice. I asked him to look at the thicker portion and to our horror, it was stone cold raw in the center. Needless to say, he was put off by the thought of the rawness - as was my wife, who lost her appetite as well (kind of funny if you think of the irony that she was eating sushi). In contrast, my Wagyu burger was fantastic. We flagged down our server and brought the raw chicken to her attention. She immediately called a manager that appeared in seconds. To her credit, she apologized profusely; offered to provide another dish (we said "no"); and she comped the entire meal. Management handled the situation perfectly and for that they get two stars instead of one. Will we go back? Probably not.
Mura has been a mainstay for sushi in Raleigh for years but currently with so many newer, innovative menus and value for the price they have not kept up to the market. Had multiple rolls with a sashimi dish as well. Portion sizes are very small, but fresh. The return of the calamari was exciting how it was so overly breaded and fried to long. They also have few fresh rolls that are not laden with tempura or fried unfortunately.
Always a great time, great food, my first choice for sushi.
We went to Mura for lunch and had a reservation on a Wednesday. The restaurant was largely empty, so likely did not need the reservation that day. I had the coconut curry, which was very good and had a little bit of a kick. A few of the people I was with had the sushi bento box which came with so much food that neither of them finished it.
Service was decent, nothing spectacular.
Food was good but you can definitely find better sushi for a cheaper price. Server was great and our drinks were made perfectly! Biggest complaint was that we were surrounded by dirty, empty tables that weren’t bussed the entire time we were there.
Great place for sushi with great service!! We will be back very soon!!
Best sushi in Raleigh!
Food and service was excellent as expected
Only one criticism-- it seems the recipe for the vegetable-based roll (can't remember the name, ordered the Zen roll this time) has changed. I liked the old recipe with tempura sweet potato better.
It was my anniversary and they were able to decorate the table for me and it was amazing. There was an unlit candle on the table, I just wished they had lit it but no big deal. Food and waiter were amazing!
It was an awesome experience! Quiet and great food
Always a great experience.. fav place, excellent food!
Food was really good, no wait with our reservation and it was quiet enough for me and my wife to be able to talk and not have to yell or raise our voices to be heard. The service was great. Only problem I had was the noodles were just meh.
Service was great!!
The food wasn’t as good as usual and it was very slow to come out. Sadly, I was disappointed with this and my last visit.
Service was prompt. Server was friendly and helpful with recommendations and explanation of dishes. Tuesday is buy one get one half off sushi rolls, we had 6 different ones and they were all amazing. Will definitely be back for more
Great service and waitress was awesome!!! This was by far my wife’s best birthday party. Thank you!
The best sushi in Raleigh! We were a party of 8 celebrating my daughter it always is whether we are dining for lunch, dinner, or a special occasion. The staff always friendly and accommodating.
Great atmosphere. Loved this place. The drinks at the bar were incredible. We will definitely come back
Excellent service and food. Wouod recommend to friends and family.
The food is good but the service was under par even though the restaurant was fairly empty and well staffed. The server forgot to bring out cocktails that we ordered and after waiting 25+ minutes we just told her to forget it because we had already gotten our food that we ordered after the drinks. The server didn't print out the receipt where you tip and sign after running the card, and disappeared after dropping off the paid checks, so we couldn't even find her to ask what she wanted us to do. Overpriced considering the sushi is about the same as most bogo sushi restaurants and the service is lacking.
LOVE LOVE LOVE MURA!!! One of our favorite places to eat. A bit disappointed you no longer have the White Grape Martini as it was a favorite!!!!
I’ve been to Mura once or twice a year for the last six years and have had a great meal each time. The menu has changed a bit over time but I was happy the wasabi guacamole was back on the menu last week. The salmon is always good too.
