I like this place a lot. It is conveniently steps away from Symphony Hall, a real find. We eat here whenever we go to some there. They serve very tasty Indian food (they also offer Chinese - maybe next time!) Yummy desserts. The wait service was prompt, efficient and pleasant. It is a very clean and pleasant place to eat and talk. The parking garage is around the corner, across from Whole Foods. Win!
You know you're somewhere special when it's the only place you eat every night that you're in Boston! They make you feel like family and even know your order. Fantastic food, excellent service, perfect atmosphere. I can't relate to the haters who post bad reviews. Hands down my favorite.
The hostess/server/bartender Rhabia, was amazing. She did it all, while being very pleasant and professional. The food was quite good and we enjoyed the entire experience. I would definitely go to Mumbai Spice again.
Excellent foods. All the usual plus interesting new dishes. Wait staff good-speedy service. Will go back.
Delicious food and outstanding service. We were in and out of there much quicker than expected. There were several tables of Indian folk in the restaurant. To me, that speaks volumes as to the quality of the food.
Conveniently right next to BSO, we had a 6:00 reservation and needed to be at the symphony for a 7:30 show, which we told the waitstaff at the outset. After 20 mins, we had to go find a waiter to get our order in. Had to find a waiter to get the sauces that should have come with pappadams. Had to find waiter to get silverware. Food arrived at table at 7:20. We had to shove it down in 7 minutes to make the doors for symphony. Food was ok, but never again!
Continues to be my hands down favorite! Haven't had anything bad on the menu! Service is amazing!
The food was very good. Chicken Tikka marsala, Lamb vindaloo, vegetables featuring Okra and yogurt and garlic naan. All very good. Service was very pleasant too.
It had been recommended to us. First time there— very nice.
I love this restaurant. I'm now trying to eat everything at least once on the menu. You can't miss this hidden gem!
Food was very good, as always, but the delivery of the food to the table was piecemeal and slow.
Food is delicious, and the servers are friendly and efficient. We went here for a pre-concert dinner (it's within an easy walk of Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, and Berklee), and were very happy.
Mumbai Spice is one of the very best Indian Food restaurants I've ever eaten at! Fantastic service and homemade recipes straight from a mother's kitchen in India! Do not miss this incredible gem in Boston's Back Bay!
Food and Service were very good. Dessert selection is not great. Coffee tasted like instant
The worst Indian restaurant we have ever eaten at, and one of the worst restaurants we’ve been to overall. Food is bland, atmosphere was like a school cafeteria, and they have a restricted liquor license with weird drinks. Poor service - an all around very poor experience.
Food excellent as usual. Service was wonderful. Chai was not hot or very flavorful. Coffee mediocre.
I love Mumbai Spice and all the options they offer! The servers are pleasant, the food is delicious, and the food is modestly priced. Honestly, it's so hard to pick from all the tasty options they offer! Great place! Will be a regular!
Thoroughly enjoyed our pre-theater dinner at Mumbai Spice. I'd booked a reservation the day before, so our table was ready and waiting for us. We enjoyed a couple of appetizers before the other half of our party arrived, and then a range of entrees. Everything was excellent! Service was prompt and attentive without feeling rushed. Prices, while on the higher side, are reasonable for the area. Atmosphere was very pleasant--would definitely return!
My 3rd time at Mumbai Spice. Each time it gets better!
The service was appallingly bad. We had a reservation, and on a super cold night, we asked to have a table far away from the door. But they said they couldn't do that. So we ended up in a corner of the front window. Service was very neglectful: we had to wait and ask for everything, even knives and refills of wine. The food was very mediocre to bad.
The only complaint we had was a light fixture overhead that flickered on and off occasionally; everything else was wonderful, especially the food. The service was excellent also.
We visited on NYE on our 5 day trip from the UK.
Lovely food, great service.
Nice spot to eat.
Very average food
We enjoyed the presentation of the dishes on stainless steel trays. If you are one of those folks that hate their food touching this is your place. Food was very nice. Although I am not a vegetarian I often eat that way so appreciated that there were some no meat options, and I found something I was not allergic to as well which is often a challenge.
It was a great meal. Thankfully, they moved us to the back of the restaurant where it was quiet. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and service was wonderful. Will be back again!
Food was flavorful, might have picked something different. Some things a bit overpriced
Good vegan varieties, but many items are too salty.
Excellent! Tasty. Great before going to the Huntington Theater.
Ideal for a casual meal before going to symphony Hall. The appetizers were delicious, as was the tandoori shrimp dish.
Never again... run by amateurs from staff to chef.. maybe this is good for students but I can’t see too many who can afford the bill
We enjoy the blend of South Asian and Chinese influences here. It's a go-to before the symphony. Service, though, has always been slow, feels almost like an afterthought!
Have eaten here multiple times. It's proximity to Symphony Hall was the initial draw. If the food were not high quality, we would not dine there as often.
Mumbai Spice is a quality Indian restaurant (with Chinese-Indian options on the menu) that provides a good array of vegetarian and vegan options. The service is generally friendly and efficient. There are very reasonable wine options. Overall, a dependably enjoyable dining experience for this vegetarian.
Always enjoy Mumbai Spice and go there often.
Perfect location across from Symphony Hall. The food was delicious. We had the special lamb kabobs, and a chicken dish in a mildly spicy vinegar sauce (not sour, though). Salt and pepper cauliflower for our starter was also good, and the rasmalai was light and creamy. The service was friendly but chaotic. It was 35 minutes before they took our order. The appetizer came promptly, but then there was another long gap for the mains. Then they charged our card for the wrong amount (to be fair, they noticed first, but still had to redo it). Fortunately, we were just across the street, so we had time. Go early, and make a reservation; they were turning people away.
They have an extensive menu with lots of options. The food was very good. The service could have been more responsive.
Great menu. Lots of options. Perfect location for dinner before heading to BSO.
We keep coming back to Mumbai Spice. We've eaten at many good Indian cuisine-type restaurants over the years, but Mumbai Spice keeps surprising us with takes on this cuisine we'd never expect - and high-quality renditions of familiar dishes.
I’d recommend for a quick inexpensive meal. Chicken tikka sauce as delicious but short on chicken. Veg biryanis was bland. Naan was yummy. Chickpeas/spinach was tasty.
This is a nice addition to the restaurants near Boston Symphony Hall. Everything was done well, friendly service and good food. I was especially happy with the noise level, so that we could have a very nice conversation while dining. I will definitely return.
