The food was outstanding and service is awesome.
We were able to get the wine room for my party of 7. If a private room is available, I highly suggest it. Always a good experience at Mulvaney’s.
Normally I have had great food at Mulvaney's, but this time was subpar. Foie gras was quite small; did not cover the slice of biscuit it was on. And my steak was cold. Had to send it back. Willing to try again.
Our special occasion day ended with dinner at Mulvaney's B&L and we all will remember the authentic flavors and amazing service for a long time. I know that my daughter will never forget her first time at Mulvaney's after her college graduation and I am sure she and her boyfriend will be returning for other special occasions or to make memories of their own. Everything was perfect!
Wonderful and delicious!
If you want to go somewhere that is the epitome of farm to table this is the Mecca. Wait staff impeccable, no rush attitude.
Best place in Sacramento.
B Day The mail was excellent service was great but it was very loud
The Mulvaney staff were friendly and cheerful. Seating outside was nice and very comfortable under a beautiful shade tree. We started out with an old fashion made with one of favorite bourbons, Noah's Mill, and it did not disappoint. The starter chili chowder was nice but it lacked salt and some deeper flavors known in a chili base. I had the halibut and did find the fish a bit overcooked. The olive and salty topping added the flavor to the fish but overall it was needed more flavor. The asparagus however,
was seasoned and cooked to perfection and with a generous portion to boot. Overall service was good and the pleasure of my sons made the meal enjoyable.
Excellent as usual. We had our anniversary dinner here and everything was perfect - food, service and ambiance. We were in the outside patio which was particularly delightful.
We celebrated my son’s birthday Saturday night. Food and service were fantastic. Only criticisms are for the high noise level and the lack of valet parking.
Service was solid -- attentive but not fawning. Food was excellent and very seasonal/local. The gigantic double pork chop is extremely good. The only off note was the bread put on the table -- seemed like something from a supermarket shelf and not at all up to the rest of the excellent food.
We enjoyed the experience. The manager reached out to us after our visit to ensure everything was satisfactory.
Wonderful food, service, and ambiance - my favorite restaurant. They are fine with sharing both small and large plates and their food is so innovative and delicious- all done in a very comfortable style.
Service was awesome.Enjoyed all the little details at the table with presentation. Friendly from coming in thru the door, recognizing dinner was for a special occasion, and goodbyes. Dessert even had a chocolate message written on the plate and candle.
Very impressed. Can’t wait to return to enjoy another special dinner experience.
Our server was maybe the best we’ve ever had. She was fantastic.
This is my favorite restaurant in Sacramento. The food is superb. I started with a salad and moved on to the steelhead trout. The flavors were wonderfully balanced. Dessert was a twist on the Hostess Ding Dong and it was stellar.
Impeccable food and complimenting service by well trained staff. It was an A+ Experience.
Always been a big fan of Mulvaney’s, but this experience was not up to par. The salads were ok, the entrees were satisfactory, and the bread was average. On the upside the drinks were very good and the ding dong desert was exceptional. Overall, we all were underwhelmed with the experience, as Mulvaney’s usually sets the bar for Sacramento restaurants.
My meal was excellent and my server Brett was charming and efficient.
There is a lot of thought put into what they do. I appreciate the little touches such as a butter knife with the bread and the pink salt on the butter. I even noticed the bartender get a blanket for someone who was chilly.
All in all a very nice evening.
Mulvaney's vacillates between being the finest food in town, to slightly better than ordinary for fine dinning. Maddeningly so. Preparation has always been stellar, except for one time, when it was average, at best. The menu is constantly changing, which is good; but frequently lacks diversity; especially for vegetarians, or even those that eat only chicken, and only some fish. This is a fine restaurant, but could be better; and there are at least 3 establishments in Sacramento that are of similar high quality, but more consistent and diverse in menu choices.
Food was just ok. For the price I would rather go somewhere else. My husband was especially disappointed with his steak.
It was a magical evening from beginning to end. The staff were exquisite and professional. The overall experience was a 5 or of 5 stars. The food was great, the bar tender so wonderful and our server brought the magic to make our first wedding anniversary so memorable.
What a wonderful evening and dining experience! Good was excellent, service outstanding! Will be our go to date night spot
Another amazing meal at Mulvaney's! Delicious seasonal food and fine attention to detail. The ambiance is perfect for a special occasion or date night. Service is always outstanding. I had a small issue with my entrée being undercooked. They took care of it immediately and I had the chef, our server and the hostess check back to make sure everything was okay. Mulvaney's never disappoints and I can't wait to go back.
Amazing food and service! The cocktails were excellent as well!
Have been several times and previously loved it. This time the food was just "meh". The small plates/appetizers were good but the entrees were somewhat bland - this includes the halibut cheeks, the pork chop and the sturgeon were all good but not great. For the price they charge I have higher expectations based on past experience. Went to Canon East the next night and for 2/3 the price had an innovative, tasty meal.
Have heard this same comment from another friend that the past 2 times they went to Mulvaney's it was just okay.
On the other hand, the service was great and the atmosphere is also very relaxed and inviting.
Amazing as always!
It was my 50th birthday dinner with my family. Great experience coming into the restaurant. Table was ready, menu was printed and personalized with Happy Birthday Dennis. As our server finished taking our orders, she offered to take the personalized menu away for safe keeping so they won’t get soiled. Food was great. Atmosphere was lively. At the end, the server said she was going to bring back our menus as souvenirs. She putz around at the hostess’ desk, did not find our menus but didn’t say anything and proceeded to the kitchen to tend to her other orders. So after some time,I got the attention of the hostess and told her we were just waiting for server for the menus. She went over to the kitchen, talked to her, talked to who might be a manager, and after a while went to another area and reprinted the menu. But when she gave them to us, it was just on regular paper and wasn’t not on the Mulvaney’s letterhead. Unfortunately the hostess was less than enthusiastic about the situation.
The souvenir menu wouldn’t have been a big deal but at the beginning, those little touches make for an even better dining experience altogether. And what could have been a perfect 50th celebration dinner was dampened at the end by a trivial lapse of attention to detail and customer service.
I’ve been to Mulvaney’s B&L 3 times and every time the food, service and ambiance is amazing. I recommend it to everyone for a true dining experience.
It was a great evening with good food and great service. Thanks Brook. She brought out a treat after dinner for my sister's birthday wishing her a happy one. So sweet. Patrick Mulvaney checked on our table as well as others to make sure we were pleased with everything. Most of us ordered the Halibut Cheek. It was excellent and presentation was perfect. Love this restaurant and would definitely recommend it to all.
I was a little concerned because the online menu didn't list any vegetarian options, but the waitress assured me that they could make me a vegetarian pasta dish. It was absolutely delicious. And for dessert we ordered the off-the-menu Ding Dong, which was, as usual, wonderful!
As usual, everything was excellent. Plates had a variety of fresh ingredients. Flavor combinations on each plate kept things interesting. Entrées were served promptly and piping hot.
This has to be one of my favorite restaurants in Sacramento. This is my go to whenever I have a special occasion, birthday, or a date night. This has become a special place for me and my husband, Mulvaney’s never disappoints!
Everything met expectations!
Always great food and service.
Birthday celebration was awesome experience. I love the way this restaurant treats special occasions. Wonderful experience.
It’s was great, first time there, my date and I both enjoyed ourselves. Thank you for the awesome experience.
Mulvaney's is always a treat for dinner when we are in Sacramento (from the Sierra Nevada foothills). We love the friendly, casual atmosphere, well-managed service, and unexpected dishes and excellent preparation. Our table enjoyed the halibut and sea bass - both cooked perfectly; the duck breast; and pappardelle small plate, along with mushroom soup and blood orange salad. Wine and beer lists offer good and varied selections. We polished off ice cream (including vanilla, sweet pea and bacon!), a kiwi custard, and Ginger Elizabeth chocolates. Yum!
Went here for our anniversary after several people recommended it. So glad we did! Really great environment, DELICIOUS FOOD, awesome wait staff. The only thing to mention is that the restaurant was a little loud. But we would absolutely go back.
