Great service and food. Never disappoints! Best downtown Portland experience.
Fabulous food, outstanding attentive service and lovely local ambience. Love our evening 💕
Amazing dinner with my fiancée!!
Above and beyond service
The food was very creative, wonderfully visual and the service was absolutely attentive.
The restaurant has become overpriced for the quality of food and service.
Tasting menu is a fantastic experience, lamb was cooked to perfection! Smoke crusted shrimp are exquisite, selected wines are perfectly matched.
Mecca was our go- to favorite Italian restaurant in Portland until this last visit. Menus has changed (no risotto!) and some old favorites gone. My lamb chops lacked seasoning and were too rare. Mushroom Pasta was dry, lacked flavor. The recommended wine was disappointing.
Exquisite food, wine service from Carter was among the best in the world. We brought friends there, both Foodies, one who said it was the best meal she's ever had in her life. What a great place. We go every time we're in Portland
Really an exquisite experience! There are very few places in the city with this quality of service, food, and atmosphere. It comes at a price for sure, but it's worth a splurge.
I invited a couple of local foodie friends to dinner at Mucca O, and they were blown away by how wonderful the food tasted, the exceptional presentation of the dishes, and the top rate service.
The variety of dishes offered presents wonderful options for carnivores and vegetarians alIke.
Having authentic Italian food in Portland is such a treat. I highly recommend it.
A fine dining experience in a cozy setting. This chef knows exactly what he is doing, and if you look over at the small kitchen area it’s easy to see how smoothly your dinner is being prepared. Some folks opt for the few seats at the counter - not a bad show. We were just against the stairs and that was fine. There’s an upstairs room which I imagine is more sedate, possibly more private. All dishes were superb at a level of international excellence. This is not your mother’s or grandmother’s cuisine. Servings are plated with artistic care and portions are proper given the incredible flavor and depth of taste. We split a serving of agnolotti and each one was a showstopper. It was also clear that the staff enjoyed making your meal as comfortable and pleasing as possible. This experience is unlikely in, say, New York or Chicago.... it was so personal and so special. We’re glad we came.
We go whenever we can get a reservation and am in town.
This was our first trip to Mucca Osteria but it will not be our last. It is a joy to have a place like this in Portland and a treat to enjoy a wonderfully prepared Italian meal at. From the moment my wife and I walked in the door through our meal and then as the meal ended, we were treated with a quiet unpretentious courtesy and attentiveness that smaller unpretentious (but wonderful) places like this seem to dwell in naturally. We were shown our table upstairs, enjoyed ourselves with cocktails and then had a satisfying simple but elegant Italian meal. For the Antipasti. I had the capesante while my wife had Insalata di Stagione; for the secondi piatti, I choose the Spalla di Maiale and my wife, the fresh seasonal seafood (halibut). Both were prepared and presented fabulously.
This one of our new favorites.
Seared scallops were delicious!
I had three kinds of pasta dish. Texture of Pasta was not my liking. Wasn’t professionally plated as some of the pasta were stuck together, didn’t tie around the fork. Ravioli pasta dominated the fillings. I don’t recommend pasta dish here.
Obvious mistake of mushroom serving I think. Two kinds of mushroom accompanied with pork shoulder plate were nearly hard dried and didn’t receive any care of treatment such as sauce to moisten a bit or seasonings. I enjoy mushroom by itself without seasoning or sauce. However I didn’t taste anything much other than dry texture from this one.
Meyer lemon reduction demi glacé over porkshoulder didn’t enhance the meat for me. The sauce shows more bitterness than Meyer lemon. Also too salty.
Host and servers were elegant, caring and very pleasing.
Amazing atmosphere and food! We will definitely be going back!
Birthday - staff were very nice and took their time to explain everything on the menu and everyday special
Was a very nice experience
One should not go to Mucca Osteria if you are attending a performance afterward. Even if you tell your server about your schedule, your main dish will be late and you will be rushed, if you have time to eat it at all. The servers are nice and apologetic but even after saying our timing would be fine, they acknowledge that food comes out of the kitchen slowly. The restaurant was not full, either. We don't like to wait an hour for the main course under any circumstances, no matter how delicious the food. Here the food is very good, and it should not be bolted down.
There are some very nice Italian restaurants in Portland but I have to put this at the top with my favorites. We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the chefs prepare everything with such care and detail--impressive. Scallop appetizer was to perfection, house special ravioli stuffed with halibut and squid ink was superb and pork shoulder was tender, juicy and flavorful. Love the vibe. Staff was all very friendly--our server, the chef and the host. Will go back with friends.
Absolutely wonderful experience with a beautiful tasting menu and exceptionally caring and attentive staff. A real gem!
We were warmly greeted and quickly seated and the wait staff immediately brought water, asked about other drinks and informed us of the specials. The bread was excellent with wonderfully olive oil. My lamb was cooked to perfection, the apple cider salad dressing was light and flavorful. Service throughout the meal was attentive but not intrusive.
The most incredible food in Portland.
The most handsome waiters 👌
Beautifully executed food....great wine selections with a very knowledgeable wine director. While some people demand a table upstairs, I personally think the seats at the kitchen counter are the best place to sit.
Went for our anniversary, and had a great experience! We had the chefs tasting menu which serves a good variety of what they offer. Just enough food to satiate you without making you feel overly full. Friendly and professional service, would definitely recommend.
The food is always impeccable & the service unparalleled anywhere in town. Perfect!
My wife and I had a fantastic experience dining at Mucca Osteria Friday 04/19/19.
The food was delicious and we are already looking forward to our next visit.
As for the wait staff, we couldn't stop commenting to each other how fantastic the service was. We readily saw this in how they interacted with us, but also with everyone else around us.
Great food and service. Nice special occasion place. Love the white table clothes, Savory Italian food and charming, efficient staff. Save room for dessert!
The food and service was absolutely amazing. For drinks, I had the Belezza cocktail, a glass of red wine, and an espresso martini- all excellent. For food, we ordered the duck carpaccio, squid ink tagliolini, the agnolotti, and the lamb chops. Definitely the best restaurant I’ve been to in a long time (or maybe the best restaurant I’ve been to, period!!).
The food was AMAZING! For some reason we had to wait almost an hour in between the pasta dish and our main entree, but they gave us a complimentary chocolate mousse dessert which definitely made up for it. The panna cotta is a MUST try for dessert, very smooth and fresh. Our waiter was really also very friendly and recommended some other places to us since we were from out of town. The restaurant is small and cozy which makes the noise level a little loud. It was great to be seated by the kitchen and setting them work. We would definitely come back.
We have been coming to Mucca for all of our special occasion celebrations since my Italian instructor told me about it 5 years ago when we still lived in Los Angeles. We have always loved our time at Mucca because everything is always perfect - Simone's amazing food, the excellent Italian wines on offer, and the wonderful wait staff and wine steward. Aside from our special occasion dinners, we used to drop in occasionally for a bowl of pasta at the bar but now it's so popular that's now often possible anymore.
It was a wonderful meal!
Great place, amazing service. High quality food, romantic
The halibut needed to be cooked through. Bread and olive oil outstanding.pasta dishes excellent.
Good food, good wine, excellent service. Overall a good experience.
Always fantastic. Food, service are really consistent and very very hard to find in restaurants in any city. When visiting Portland, I always visit at least once. Never regret it. The staff is so attentive and educated and very good at service making your visit feel special. The food is artistically created and presented. If you haven’t been, you will do ourself a favor to check it out.
The service was very attentive and the food was outstanding! An upscale menu with a relaxing ambiance I plan on returning to.
We lived in Italy for a number of years, so we believe that we know good food. I think Mucca's food was really good and it deserves its ranking as one of the top Italian restaurants in Portland. I would say that it's not a super kid friendly place, with no kids menus. But nonetheless, they were willing to cater to our kids by making some plain pasta. There was no bad dish, as everything they made was very tasty. I will recommend this restaurant to a friend.
Great food and service in a small downtown environment. Creative Italian food with fresh local ingredients. Good wine pairings and an innovative cocktail list. Server knew her menu and had good suggestions
When we visit Portland we always eat at Mucca Osteria. Again our dinner did not disappoint and the service was outstanding. Though their menu may see small always ask about their specials they are very good. We always each order an entree and then share each others. They do not hesitate to do this for you. Their coffee is great very strong and delicious. One recommendation is to reserve a table upstairs as it is quieter. Look forward to our next trip to Portland so we can dine here again.
Excellent menu, delicious food and attentive staff!
