This was my first visit to Mucca. It was our anniversary and they served us a complimentary glass of champagne and shared dessert. We were treated perfectly and loved the restaurant and their hospitality recognizing our anniversary. We will definitely go back. We eat out often and this will be on our list from now on. Thank you Mucca.
We’ve enjoyed Mucca on two occasions so far. Both times we chose their Tasting Menu which was
wonderful each time. The food is creative, fresh and very appealing in presentation and taste.
I must say their service is excellent as each server is well versed on the menu and is most attentive
but not overly so. Looking forward to a return visit.
Phenomenal food and service! Tasting menu is quite something, though smaller appetites might stick to the ala carte.
Awesome service, very high quality food. Everything seems to be thoroughly thought and planned in this restaurant.
I've been going to Mucca since it opened and have always loved everything about it. However, I was greatly disappointed in this last visit on the food quality. I can only assume it was an off night or they have become too popular. I hope this was just an off night. Will try again.
There were some exquisite bites...the scallops appetizer was my favorite...the homemade bread was exceptional...desserts were tasty (chocolate hazelnut especially). We were surprised to be unhappy with our pasta dishes. The sauces were good but the actual noodles were dense and heavy. I wouldn’t order pasta there again. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he offered no accommodation., just saying he was sorry I didn’t like it.
We always love stopping by Mucca when we’re in the City. We know there’s a ton of restaurants to choose from but we keep coming back for the amazing service and spectacular food. Thanks fir another great evening.
We sat at the counter and saw the dinners being prepared, which was fascinating. The food was first-rate. The wine by the glass selection was interesting if a bit limited (two or three good Italian wines to choose from). Service was attentive but not overly so. Highly recommended.
A Friday evening, 7PM: The food was from beginning to end wonderful. Service was impeccable, attentive and non-pretentious. We sat upstairs near the railing...this does allow too much noise to, at times, blast upwards taking away any intimate conversation. I would suggest, if upstairs, ask to be seated toward the bar/exit signs to maybe avoid the noise. Other than that, a perfect dining experience of food/service! Will definitely visit again.
Everything was good but VERY overpriced. The servers were kind and welcoming and the ambience was quiet and could be considered romantic. The food was good but there were not enough vegetarian choices. The cauliflower/eggplant patè was visually unappealing especially when served on a white plate. The flavors were good, but overall the price was extremely high for what you get.
Food and service was exceptional. I highly recommend this place.
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. We had never done a 8 course tasting menu of Italian food before paired with wines. Chef owner definitely knows his food as did the sommelier his Italian wines. Food was fresh, clean tastes, innovative flavours and portion size good. Very good value for money
Celebrating my wife's birthday with friends visiting from out of town.
A great restaurant really. Reminded us of some we had been to in Europe. Presentation, preparation, service were all top notch. Prices compare with other top restaurants in Portland. We enjoyed our anniversary dinner immensley. We tried the signature dishes which are excellent. The octopus terrine was really outstanding. We will certainly go back.
The service and food was excellent!
All dishes we tried was really good and perfect in size!
In my opinion, one of Portland’s best restaurants. Always delicious.
This is our favorite restaurant in Portland. The service is outstanding. Every person we encountered was extremely friendly and professional. From our outstanding bartender ( I didn't catch her name) to our server, "Craig" we were made to feel welcome. The Duck Confit Spring Rolls were amazing and the salmon was done perfectly. I also highly recommend the Battle Royale drink!
We loved the seared scallops starter and the mushroom pasta. Try them!
We had an amazing time for our anniversary dinner.
Food and service were excellent. Split a fine mixed green salad with a yogurt dressing, pasta special with octopus, calamari, cherry tomatoes and more, terrific duck breast (must have been a big duck), and an unusual but delicious tiramisu. Especially like that the restaurant offered half bottles of wine (many choices), one of which was an excellent Barolo that complimented the duck nicely.
First time dining at Mucca Osteria. Food and service were excellent.
From service, plating, ambiance, wine pairing and of the course the food, one of the overall best dinners we’ve ever had. Highly recommend chefs 6 course menu with wine pairing for a special occasion. We celebrated our 10’year anniversary and it was certainly special.
One of my favorite restaurants in Portland. It's always busy, can be a bit noisy but that doesn't detract from the experience. Quality, great service.
Wonderful! We eat here whenever we visit Portland.
Food was ridiculously amazing. Worth a wait but reservations are the best way as place is small.
Excellent food. Reminded me of a high quality trattoria in NYC. Freshly prepared and attentive, but not cloying, service. Great little place!
Best meal we’ve had in a long time (and we’ve been to some great restaurants in Europe and Key West). The service is as good as any we’ve had in Italy and France.
Highly recommend the duck breast and pork shoulder entrees. And the scallops/roasted cauliflower antipasti is superb!
Outstanding neighborhood restaurant! Small downstairs with open kitchen , and more upstairs dining. Great to watch the kitchen in action. Everything very fresh and local. My first experience with SousVide, and the pork shoulder was delicious. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. Reserve ahead, worth it.
Great attentive service, great food in a airy but intimate setting. Look forward to our next visit.
Mucca Osteria is the most authentic italian restaurant I've been to in Portland. Everything we had was delicious and I didn't see that traditional red sauce on the menu at all. Pasta was tender and delicious and the steak and duck prepared to perfection. The dishes are pricey, but for a special meal the price is worth it. Very romantic place and quiet enough to hear your date.
If our pasta had been hot Mucci would have had top marks all the way but cool pasta . .
I would have sent it back but they got very busy just then and since the sauce was very good we ate cool mushroom tortellini. Will go back!
Lovely evening experiencing the 6 course chefs menu. Highly recommend!
Was our wedding anniversary and they were awesome. Did the tasting menu, was wonderful. Just a super meal with great service and wonder attention.
Lovely meal and equally lovely service for our anniversary celebration
if you like great authentic Italian food, this is the place to be!! Amazing dishes with great flavor. Perfect place if you want to treat yourself to a great meal. From appetizers, to entrees to desserts; everything tastes great!
My experience at Mucca was fantastic! I was in Oregon for a few days to visit some friends and I was looking for a nice restaurant to go to on our last night, which was spent in Portland and this one stood out to me more than most since I personally work in a high end, Italian kitchen. There were four of us in the party, one with a dairy allergy, and we split up four courses, family style.
FIRST COURSE: After bread of course... We decided on 3 appetizers to split up. The Capesante (scallops). The octopus. And Foie Gras w/ roasted quail.
The only thing I could knit pick from our appetizer course would be that the foie gras was cooked differently than I commonly see and a couple of the party members weren’t a huge fan of the cook. (I thought it was great)
SECOND COURSE (pasta): We ordered 2 pastas. Paccheri/Fruiti de mare. Mushroom and ricotta tortelli.
Both were outstanding. Some of the best pasta I’ve ever had. Tortelli couldn’t be done dairy free since it’s stuffed with ricotta, (as we expected).
THIRD COURSE (entree): Pan-roasted duck breast w/ seasonal mushrooms. Sous-Vide pork shoulder.
Once again, both were outstanding. The fan favorite within our party was the duck breast, but I preferred the pork. The pork was absolutely fork tender and seasoned to perfection. Almost had a flavor profile of a really well done bbq (not to be disrespected at all, it was amazing), with the rich Demi-glace, bell peppers, onions, and the perfectly intense seasonings.
FOURTH COURSE (dessert): We went all out for dessert and ordered 5 items. Tiramisu. Chocolate mousse cake. Pannacotta. The espresso poured over vanilla gelato. And two scoops of peach balsamic sorbet.
We knew before we arrived at the restaurant that dessert for our dairy allergy party member would be nearly impossible, but they were able to hook us up with an off menu, peach balsamic sorbet. All of the desserts were delicious, creative, and beautiful.
All around, Mucca was amazing.
Beautiful ambience and delicious food.
Great authentic experience.
We sat up at the kitchen counter and had fun watching the chefs in action. The food is excellent and the service is super-friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.
One of the best experiences I have had at a restaurant in a long time. I am trained in culinary and found every item we received to be immaculately prepared and perfectly executed. I also appreciated that the actual owner/chef was present and working on the line with his staff the evening we dinned.
