Not impressed at all. The split appetizer was phallically plated and barely warm. Seemed like the scallops were par-cooked for the tasting menu in mass quantities, then reheated. Ours were still par-cooked and not reheated. The entrees were barely warm, but pasta was overcooked and had a play dough-like mouthfeel. Service was overly attentive, but still did not make up for the cooking flaws.
It was my first visit to this restaurant. I had one of the finest dishes of pasta I have ever eaten, and I travel a lot! I loved this place❣️
Went here for our anniversary and couldn’t have been more satisfied. The food was fantastic as we ordered the 5 course tasting menu. You could tell each dish was made with care and passion that a customer should expect from an establishment of this caliber. The server and waitstaff was just as equally matched in effort and grace. The standout dish of the entire course was the 17 hour sous vide pork cheek with cauliflower and a port reduction. Oh man that was divine. Please go here! You will never regret it. Ever.
The food is always excellent at Mucca. The service in great and knowledgeable. We always have a wonderful time in this restaurant.
Sitting at the chef’s counter was not only entertaining but showed the high standard of care given to each dish. Our server also graciously answered questions on items on the menu and those being prepared for others.
Super pleasant evening with the perfect trifecta of top-notch food, wine, and service. Highly recommend!
Awesome evening. Fabulous food, lovingly prepared, great service with added personal attention. Wonderful experience! We will return.
Best wi e service in Portland. Their knowledge of Italian wine is impressive and their cellar has some remarkable bottles with meaningful bottle age.
Great place for celebrating... wonderful ambiance and delicious food served artfully by skilled waiters. This restaurant makes you feel well taken care of.
Great food and great service!
Excellent experience. Wife and celebrated our 17th anniversary. Food was amazing and the service first rate. Only knock was our table was located in front of the kitchen counter near the front door and we would be hit with a blast of very cold air everytime the door was opened. Still a great special occasion experience.
We’re from Houston and came to Portland because of so many TV shows about Portland’s thriving food and wine scene. Visited multiple wineries and this place was highly recommended. So good! Service was top notch and each dish better than the first. We did the 5 course meal. Everything, I mean everything was great.
Food was outstanding. Melt in your mouth.
Place was a little tight and overall cost was a little high. But would go back.
First, the restaurant is really cute an cozy. Has a neighborhood feel. The service was great. The food.... appetizers, salads and pasta were excellent. The main course was good. I was hoping the mains would be more flavorful and inventive. I had the salmon, and it was good but not great. My husband had the guanciale and it was too sweet. Overall I liked this place and will be back for the pasta.
The level of service was much more refined than I expect from Portland. It was much more like being in a much larger city. The staff perfectly balance attention to guests with being unobtrusive. We felt attended but not interrupted. The food reviews lead us to expect great food. We were blown away. Every dish was perfectly prepared, presented at the right moment after assembly and artfully garnished.
Don’t be fooled by the hole - in - the - wall location. As soon as the door closes you might as well be on the SF waterfront or downtown Seattle or a hip spot in LA .
I literally have no complaints at all, none. It could not have been a better experience. And I asked a server how long they had been there (our first time). 8 years and many staff have been with them over 5. That speaks to very good management and very good treatment of the employees by the owners. Also an important trait.
This place is now on short list of places for special meals. We will be back. A lot.
Amazing food and experience as always!
Very good quality to the food. Some of the flavors over powered other and threw off the balance of the meal. Still, very good, would recommend
We sat at the chefs counter (highly recommended) and were so impressed by the food, chef, wine, and ambiance. We got the tasting menu and wine pairing and definitely suggest this route if you end up dining. We will be back.
The service was excellent, and we loved the ambiance, sitting upstairs. The food is creative and delicious. I will definitely go back.
Service was impeccable & food delicious!
This place never disappoints!
Great food and service was exceptional. The scallops were perfect! We also had the burrata and tuna tartare, both were wonderful. The pastas were all very good (carbonara, gnocchi, duck ragu, and tortellini). We also had the duck which was very tasty.
Super great restaurant! The atmosphere is perfect, the service was excellent, and the food was wonderfull. Five star recommendation.
The service was truly outstanding, but the food fell short of my expectations. When I booked the table, the menu was different than what we got when we arrived. Instead of lobster, it was crab, which is fine, but why change it? The appetizers were also excellent, but the pasta and the main fell short in flavor and were disappointing. The dessert was outstanding.
First time, service was perfect. Five course meal night. Selections interesting and full of flavor.
RUDE, RUDE, RUDE person with a Man Bun that greeted us at the front door. We visited Portland for our Christmas vacation and our hotel recommended highly Mucca Osteria. Eager with anticipation we arrived early for our reservation. Confronted by Man Bun who indicated we would need to return closer to our reservation as other patrons were dining. I whole heartedly agree we were early, however I indicated it was cold outside and he stated there was a bar around the corner. I would have at least expected maybe to say that we could wait over by the bar. None the less, we were only early approx 15 -20 minutes and we left and returned. I will tell you however there are numerous other places that we could have gone to but the caveat here is Mucca Osteria requires a credit card for the reservation and if we would have gone elsewhere there would have been a mandatory charge on my account. We were stuck. I will definitely let the hotel that we stayed at they are making a BIG mistake in recommending Mucca Osteria and PLEASE PLEASE beware of Man Bun upon arrival or make sure you are on time.
Always a delightful experience coming here. The food, service, and ambiance are impeccable. Definitely a treat and a place I love to bring family and friends.
Lovely birthday dinner. Amazing food, attentive service. Can’t wait to return.
VERY NOISE AND TABLES VERY CLOSE TOGETHER
Absolutely wonderful experience!! Food was delicious and wine list was excellent. Sit at the bar to view the kitchen.
First time to this restaurant and definitely plan to go back. Food, service, and ambiance were all outstanding. My wife and I look forward to trying other dishes. Cannot think of anything I didn't like.
Outstanding once again. I don’t hesitate to order anything on the menu even if it’s unknown ..... food and service the best.
Overall, our experience at Mucca Osteria was wonderful. The only downside was waiting over forty five minutes for a table despite our reservation time. Of course, we will be back!
You guys always go above and beyond to take care of us on our anniversary. We could not be more thrilled. We just “happened in” for dinner on our wedding night and now it has become our tradition, so we will continue to return every year!
*And thank you Carter for always digging deep in the cellar for something extra special!
I highly recommend the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. The som is excellent and he really knows his stuff! Every time we go, the food is excellent and the staff is very gracious. I would recommend taking public transit, as it is extremely close, and parking in the area can be difficult.
We had not been to Mucca for about 5 years - we will not leave it as long again! To us, it is the best Italian food and WINE in the Portland area. While it is not inexpensive, its prices are on a par with other high end restaurants downtown - in fact much better than chain steak houses. As we had on the past, we shared the Tagliere della Casa - enough charcuterie for two. We both had duck dishes which were lovey - my wife's Tagliatella with slow braised duck, and my seared duck breast that was perfect with just pink in the middle but almost crispy on the out side. We accompanied this with an Etna Rosso from I Custodi - this 2011 wine from the sides of Mount Etna was exquisite - lovely matured fruits with that mineral element you get from volcanic soils - the 2012 is just as good as I've tasted it. The Wine Director is easy to talk to, and so if you are intimidated by such a wine list, just talk to him and say what you like, he'll point you in the right direction. Of course, I finished the dinner with a Nebbiolo based Grappa from Clear Creek - great local in the mix of wonderful Italian!
This is a fantastic restaurant with unbelievable food.. highly suggest reservations
Birthday. The waiter was amazing!
Best Italien place in PDX for us..
Excellent food and wine list
An extraordinary dining experience. Highly recommended.
