The food was great - no real options for vegetarians but still okay - the only problem is the noise level and how close the tables (upstairs) are to each other....TOO LOUD! But food is always reliable right down to the bulk olive oil used for the bread.
Mucca was the best Italian restaurant I have tried in Portland. The food was outstanding and the service exceptional. The wine list was very good with prices that were fair, unlike the exhorbitant markups in many Portland restaurants. The price for 4 was over $300 with a moderate-priced wine so don’t be shocked by the bill. Not often would I say it was worth every penny.
Wonderful tasting menu, good service! From A to Z everything was perfect. From the wine pairings to the slow jazz they play everything was wonderful!
Justin, Liam, Enrique and all of the staff have made this or favorite restaurant. The food is spectacular and the service is attentive and welcoming.
AMAZING FOOD AND SERVICE! definitely an awesome place to visit.
Had an amazing birthday dinner at Mucca. The wine that was recommended to us by the sommelier was exquisite and we were blown away by the food. Highly recommend the seared scallops antipasti and the tortellini with white cream sauce.
My family loves to get together at Mucca for the lovely food and interesting wine selection, but especially because the staff is so warm and welcoming. One of us is vegan, and the kitchen is always willing to prepare something special that is vegan-friendly. We tend to linger over our food and wine, enjoying our conversation, and the staff never makes us feel rushed. Such a special place!
While we often like to come to Mucca for special occasions or if we have visitors in town, we recently celebrated our 20th anniversary there. Everything from beginning to end was perfect, and the staff and our wonderful server went out of their way to make the evening special. From the complimentary Prosecco to start to the carefully chosen dessert wines perfectly paired to the desserts we ordered, everyone at Mucca is always committed to giving their guests a memorable and delicious experience, and our anniversary was no exception. Thank you so much for a wonderful dinner, and for always being consummate professionals! I sincerely appreciate that Mucca is never a pretentious scene, and you can always expect exceptional food and service. Mucca is one of the best restaurants in Portland, and we are lucky to have it! Grazie mille!
I enjoyed my meal at Mucca but it didn’t meet my expectations. This restaurant is ranked no 1 in Portland, so my expectations were high! Had farfardelle with wild boar ragu sauce, it was excellent. Had pannacotta for dessert, it was also excellent! Had a duck breast for main course, I was disappointed, it was not that tender.... but service was outstanding
We went to celebrate my husband's birthday and decided to have the chef's tasting menu along with the wine pairing. Excellent choice all around. Also, the dishes were presented beautifully. We will definitely be back with friends to enjoy.
Mucca is our new Portland favorite for when we have time to enjoy the food, the wine, and each other.
The restaurant is vibrant and obviously a Portkand hot spot. My wife & I enjoyed the tasting menu. What a great value & a good way to try several items from the restaurant menu!
We went there based on its number one spot on Travel Advisor. My husband's scallop appetizer was outstanding but the rest was good but not great or very flavorful. It was a Monday night so I wondered if it was the second string of chefs.
Mucca is a small restaurant that is welcoming and tatstefully designed. The pasta is amazing homemade and delicious. Ingredients are real and very well prepared. We had Burrata, Salad , the mushroom pasta special and pasta with artichokes. All of it was wonderful.
exellent in food and service,
real italian style,
pasta perfect al dente
Mucca Osteria-The Best in PDX! Cuisine, service, wine, and atmosphere...all perfectly blended together.
We tried Mucca Osteria for our 31st Wedding Anniversary-
it was cozy, and nice, and I never knew I had an Italian family living right here in Portland..!!
They truly treated us with care, and we felt like part of the family, from the host who greeted us, to the bartender that came to our table to help us to decide on beverages, to the wait staff, the chefs....Truly the most memorable experience in Portland we can remember.
They are highly recommended, and a top of our "places to return list"
This is our favorite restaurant in Portland, a city full of great restaurants. The food and service are consistently excellent. The menu is always interesting with preparations different from most Italian restaurants. Very special.
One of the best Italian meals we've had!!
THEIR TASTING COURSE MENU WAS GREAT. SERVERS WERE VERY NICE AND GENTLE ALSO.
Overall, very satisfied
The food was amazing. Great drinks and wonderful service. Charming place and a hidden gem. We are going back for our 25th Anniversary. This is the first time I do a review on restaurants and I have been to all of Portland's fine restaurants.
Wow. It was perfect 10 out of 10 would recommend kinda place for our 10yr anniversary. Staff is what makes this place special. The attention to detail and service is world class.
I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh, authentic Italian cuisine and the ambiance. I have a new go-to restaurant when visiting Portland.
Always our favorite restaurant to bring friends to. Our experience outside was lovely late sept. The only challenge was the Max train noise every few mins but we were in the city!!
Still my favorite spot in downtown Portland for an elegant meal. Never disappoints and always accommodating.
It was wonderful. We celebrated our anniversary and they took great care of us.
This is one of the top 2-3 best Italian restaurants in Portland. Have not had a bad experience here and I've been 6-7 times.
We were greeted with champagne and thanked for spending our 20th wedding anniversary with them. Our waiting was amazing with the wine selection! We did the 6 course meal and it was perfect and tasty!
We will be back for sure.
I was so incredibly disappointed by my experience at Mucca. This restaurant is the #1 rated restaurant in Portland on TripAdvisor and falls on nearly every ranked list for Portland restaurants but it fell so far below expectations. This was a special dinner out with my husband and parents on my first trip home in over three years. The food was very good to excellent. Between the four of us, we had the Insalata di Uva, Tartara di Tonno, Capesante, Spalla di Maiale (sous-vide pork shoulder), Bistecca, Petto d'Anatra (duck breast), Semifreddo all'Amaretto and Tiramisu. All very, very good.
Unfortunately, the service was appallingly poor. I should have to say my name once to reference my reservation - it's not a complicated name. The table with the menus looked like a hurricaine had blown through. My husband's iced tea took 20 minutes to arrive after he ordered it, though my glass of wine arrived in 5 minutes. Our appetizers were served in a reasonable amount of time, as did our entrees and then desserts, but that's the only plus side to the service. The steak knife for my duck was so dull that I had to press in to cut even the green beans on my plate, but because the waitstaff disappeared so quickly after the food arrived and never once checked back in, I suffered through it. Not once did anyone check to see if dishes were to our liking. While our water glasses were kept full, nobody refilled or even asked if my husband and I wanted another glass of either of our beverages.
Too bad. I wouldn't recommend this for a top tier restaurant.
This was my first visit to Mucca. It was our anniversary and they served us a complimentary glass of champagne and shared dessert. We were treated perfectly and loved the restaurant and their hospitality recognizing our anniversary. We will definitely go back. We eat out often and this will be on our list from now on. Thank you Mucca.
Was in Portland for the weekend and Trip Advisor listed this as #1 for Portland fine dining. I booked it and then noticed it said "elegant casual." Went out that evening and bought my wife a dress and shoes only to discover that the table on either side of us sported men wearing jeans, one with tennis shoes, and two couples with the men wearing collar-less t-shirts! I'd say business casual at best and strictly casual would be more descriptive and this was on a Saturday night. Food was very good, service was good, and while lots of energy in a small place, it was ok. Good experience but not enough that I'd return.
Great Italian food and pasta. We had both a seafood special and a pasta dish and the scallop appetizer. Delicious and beautifully plated food. I would definitely ask for a seat at the counter as the chefs are very fun to watch.
We’ve enjoyed Mucca on two occasions so far. Both times we chose their Tasting Menu which was
wonderful each time. The food is creative, fresh and very appealing in presentation and taste.
I must say their service is excellent as each server is well versed on the menu and is most attentive
but not overly so. Looking forward to a return visit.
Phenomenal food and service! Tasting menu is quite something, though smaller appetites might stick to the ala carte.
Awesome service, very high quality food. Everything seems to be thoroughly thought and planned in this restaurant.
I've been going to Mucca since it opened and have always loved everything about it. However, I was greatly disappointed in this last visit on the food quality. I can only assume it was an off night or they have become too popular. I hope this was just an off night. Will try again.
There were some exquisite bites...the scallops appetizer was my favorite...the homemade bread was exceptional...desserts were tasty (chocolate hazelnut especially). We were surprised to be unhappy with our pasta dishes. The sauces were good but the actual noodles were dense and heavy. I wouldn’t order pasta there again. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he offered no accommodation., just saying he was sorry I didn’t like it.
We always love stopping by Mucca when we’re in the City. We know there’s a ton of restaurants to choose from but we keep coming back for the amazing service and spectacular food. Thanks fir another great evening.
We sat at the counter and saw the dinners being prepared, which was fascinating. The food was first-rate. The wine by the glass selection was interesting if a bit limited (two or three good Italian wines to choose from). Service was attentive but not overly so. Highly recommended.
