Great food. Great atmosphere for Saint Patrick’s day. All around great restaurant.
Great for St Pat’s Day lunch!
Not only does the restaurant serve good Irish food, but the live music on Tuesday evenings is wonderful. It has everything you need for good craic! And in a side room of the restaurant is a small Irish market with wonderful food items to take home with you. It's a priceless "taste" of Ireland in the neighborhood.
We went to have dinner and watch and listen to the Tooles play. Food was GREAT, and the staff were fantastic!
Great modern Irish Pub and Bistro. Great food, traditional ambiance.
Our favorite group Juke Box Heroes were playing there.
One of my "go-to" places - ALWAYS a good experience!
Wonderful spot, loved the food and price points. Main room is wonderful, the side rooms a little sterile. Great beer/whiskey selections and the Mac & Cheese is tremendous!! Definitely will go back
I suggest avoiding the “special” - my dad and I both opted for what the menu said was a roast bacon - and the waiter described as pork but in essence was two extremely thick slices of bacon which was mostly fat and extremely salty. Our experience with “bacon” in Ireland has been something resembling ham but this was very American bacon. Totally yuck and really inedible - looked like they were trying to get rid of virtually inedible leftovers.
On a positive note both the beef stew and shepherds pie were great, but given our extremely disappointing experience with the special I doubt we’ll be back as you need to be sure the food is consistent...and this wasn’t, so sorry.
Perfect place for a large family gathering. The service was great. Large enough table seating and yet privacy from others. Excellent food choices for everyone and beers. Parking next door.
Such a great new find for our family. Will definitely return during baseball season and when visiting children in the area.
Great Sunday Brunch/Lunch menu for when with a group that can't decide on breakfast or a lunch/dinner entree. Great authentic Irish dishes and some standard favorites. Nice holiday ambiance and ample seating for my family of 5.
excellent food, server was great....nicely decorated restaurant for christmas.
Quiet family dinner in a cozy atmosphere. All enjoyed their individual drinks, appetizers, meals and shared desserts (2). Excellent waiter.
Made a great effort to find our soccer game made the food taste all that more impressive
We came for my dad's 70th birthday celebration and they had a lovely spot all ready for us by the window. The food was incredible and the service was wonderful, too. We all had a great time!
Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro was a wonderful gem that I discovered through open table. I was directing a show in the area and looking for somewhere nearby that would be affordable and have good food. After reading reviews and looking at their (wonderful!) menu I decided to meet a friend here for dinner pre-rehearsal. From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated well. They offered choices of seating style, and let us know about their really cool Irish goods store in the front of the restaurant. Service was excellent and attentive and the food was perfect and above par.
The folks at Mrs Murphy was able to accommodate our large group by the bar. Excellent service and the food came quickly. The weekend roast was amazing. There was a band playing which got a little loud. Otherwise it’s a great neighborhood spot that can please everyone.
Bloody Murphy with a Guinness back. Awesome Food was incedible.
We really wanted to like Mrs. Murphy & Sons. The live jazz in the bar was a pleasant surprise. It was Friday night and I was hoping for Irish music but that’s only on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. We were seated next to a fairly large party and they were LOUD! We could barely converse with our friends. The food was just ok. I had the corned beef and it was so salty I could barely eat it. I thought of sending it back but since corned beef is generally salty, I decided it was my fault for ordering it. My guy had a burger which he said was good. Our friends had ribs which were deemed ‘ok.’
On a Friday night in October there were only 9 people in the place from 7:15 to 9:30pm. The band was ok but too slow and boring. Not a single person sitting at the bar. I started to wonder if I should have researched this place better.
Very sad to see a nice place with nobody there! Perhaps you need help finding your niche?
Seated at 5:45 on a Friday evening and told our server of a 7:30 curtain we had to make a couple of blocks away. Staff was courteously efficient and quick, and our bill was presented at 7:05 giving us plenty of time to make our way out. Good selection of beers and nice that the drafts are offered in a variety of sizes. Scotch Egg like none I ever had before, quite delicious. Mussels and clams served with plenty of toast points to sop up the broth. Delicious Irish butter served with the bread basket. French fries (chips) could've been crispier. Already decided what I'll order next time I visit, so I'd go again.
Very good food. Very small portions.
Alyssa took great care of us - as usual. The grilled artichoke is a nice addition to the menu - we enjoyed that a lot. Got the cheeseburger as well - definitely one of our favorites.
Mother's Day brunch.
We love the Mother's day brunch-we've been coming for about 3 years. Always good food and service. Would definitely recommend it!
It was a busy night but Katie & Alyssa took great care of us. They recommended the short rib - it was awesome!
A little pricey for what you get. But not so bad that I wouldn't return.
$225 for four people for brunch. Service was the only highlight - food was average, I've had better and cheaper at hotel airports...where they overcharge for convenience. This Easter brunch was just highway robbery. Certainly won't be back.
Great Irish bar. Consistently good food and service.
We took my dad for brunch as it was his 85th birthday. We had fish and chips and the awesome prime rib off the brunch menu. It's was a delightful time. My only disappointment was there was not a desert featuring chocolate.
Well known for their ribs! Amazing! Seafood is definitely very good here! Worth it!
This is a wonderful place to have lunch or dinner. On some weeknights, live music adds great ambience. They also have a small Irish market where they sell shelf items along with cheeses, bread, etc. And it's easy to reach via the Brown Line. It's in a neighborhood where a Saturday lunch/brunch could be followed by strolling around & stopping in at various boutiques. Service is always top-notch.
Great food, service and a perfect Sunday Fundy!
Always perfect for brunch or dinner. Sophisticated but approachable food that is always delicious. A classic tasteful Irish setting. Beautiful wood touches. Accommodating service.
Didn't like all the plastic cups, a bit too loud, wish we weren't stuck in the corner. Didn't feel very attended to, we did get our drinks and appetizers comped (but didn't even know until we looked at the bill). Fish and chips weren't warm.
Overall the Mac ' n Cheese was the best part of the whole night. Forgave the busyness, will go back-but not for a special occasion probably.
We had a really nice time. it was St Patricks day and we were looking for a fun Irish pub for our dinner and a few relaxing drinks. We enjoyed it and we'll be back
Pretty awful! I was surprised they took reservations for St Patrick's Day, so was happy to book for dinner. But what a mess! We were a party of two and put upstairs in crazyville. So loud, you couldn't hear across the table. When I asked to be moved, "sorry, all the tables are taken". Well, they weren't. Limited menu and our food was cold by the time it came. And for some reason, I thought there would be live music on St Patrick's Day in an Irish restaurant, but no luck for the Irish there that day.
Upon arrival, host showed me to our table upstairs. It was empty, ugly and I said this would not work for me. I asked if I could sit on the first floor and was told there were no available tables. I told the host I would sit at the bar until my party arrived, and then we would go elsewhere.
Miraculously, when my party arrived, a table was open for us on the first floor. BTW, there were several tables available on the first floor at that point.
I had gone to the website to be sure the menu had food that I wanted to eat. However, because it was St. Patrick's Day, a special limited menu was available. There was nothing on it I wanted to eat. If this info was on the website, I missed it.
Had thought it would be fun to be in an Irish restaurant for St. Patrick's Day, but this one let me down.
Very disappointed. Been coming here for 2 years on St Paddy's - this year they changed the menu. Corned beef was meh - nonexistent cabbage and what is with 2 small tots vs buttered red potatoes.
Murphy family made this a ho hum experience. Won't be back.
