Mr. Robata on Broadway in New York is a grill and sushi bar that offers contemporary Japanese cuisine that also has a flare of New York style. The restaurant itself has a modern and sleek appearance, but most people come to the eatery for the items on the menu.
Mr. Robata puts a lot of emphasis on the presentation and the appearance of the food offered, and many of the items on the menu look like piece of artwork. In addition to the sushi and other items offered at Mr. Robata, visitors will find a range of tasty drinks available.
Unfortunately this restaurant has gone down hill rapidly. Used to be a favorite but not likely to eat there again after last experience.
We used to enjoy Mr. Robata as a good meal pre-theater. They changed the menu a whe back and we weren't happy. We tried it again after not being there more than a year. The service was poor, they do not have enough help and their menu hasn't improved. We will not be back.
Enjoyed Mr. Robata last month before attending a show. The rolls were creative, fresh and delicious. The salads we ordered prior to dinner were unique and in large portions.
good option near theater district, and happy hour deals are very good
Husband and I went for early dinner before the theater on a Saturday night. From start to finish the service was great! But we will especially go back because of the food! Had the roasted artichoke with chive aioli. It's one of those dishes you moan, "Oh it's so good", as you eat it! We also had the skirt steak with garlic chips, the skewered filet mignon and the chicken wings! OMG all delicious. Yes, you can tell we're carnivores. We chose all our selections from the "Robatayaki Grill" section, but the menu has many salad and sushi, etc. selections. This is now a favorite!!
Good food and nice vines. The only down side was we started to eat during happy hour but did not get informed about that bottles not includes. after we told the servent we got a discount so it was nice anyway
A nice find for sushi and other Japanese food in the Times Square area, before a show. Pleasant atmosphere and service; well-presented and tasty food; and unique sushi rolls.
If you're looking for a place to satisfy hunger, Mr Robata does that well. Didn't love it, didn't hate it.
We were quite disappointed in this restaurant. The ambiance was cold and stark. The wine list was almost nonexistent and when my husband ordered the house Chianti he was told that they were out. The ladies at the table next to us ordered the Sangria that was advertised as the day's special and they were out of that as well. The food was ok, the server very pleasant but I would not recommend this restaurant.
The appetizers and the dessert was really good. The sushi was fresh and tasted really good but was not amazing enough to suit the price. Racked a 120 dollar bill for one appetizer, three rolls and one dessert + tip!
