For almost two decades, Mr. K's in New York, NY has been serving up delicious Chinese inspired fare in a low-key but chic setting. There are lunch and dinner menus, and an extensive wine list that offers some remarkably complementary choices for this cuisine.
A meal at Mr. K's can begin with such options as the lover's dumplings or the amazing chicken curl. There are many other appetizers, as well as delicious classic soups. The main dishes feature poultry, seafood, meat and vegetarian specialties. There are also rice and noodle options, and Mr. K's makes a unique prix fixe menu available, allowing diners to enjoy a chef's selected array of delicious dishes and even a lovely dessert.
Great food, service, sooo comfortable. The service was prompt, courteous and very helpful in picking the right dishes and quantities so that we did not have anything left at the end of the meal. Well done.
Looking forward to dining at Mr. K's, but not as quite up to usual standards. Food was up to the standards we had expected. However, service was rather abrupt and not very attentive.
No tea offered, when ordered desserts not offered coffee. Not sure if it was due to Sunday
night, even hostess was not evident initially and then was very casual. Will return another time to see if this improves as food was still very good.
I have been enjoying Mr. Ks since they opened their doors long ago. The restaurant provides an immediate respite from crazy mid-town Manhattan: plush, spacious booths, stunning Art Deco decor, quiet and efficient service. Mr Ks serves the best Peking Duck in New York, the appetizer sampler is always a winner, and the entrees always satisfy. At this dinner I hosted 3 guests from France who loved the entire experience! Alas, Mr Ks will close at the end of May due to the loss of their lease. I am crushed as I truly love this experience.
Always good food and a quiet relaxed environment. Beautiful room.
Over the past nine years or more my wife and I have enjoyed Mr. K's restaurant. We typically visit New York city four times a year and always have at least one meal at Mr. K's. So you will understand how sorry we are to learn that Mr. K's will close at the end of May 2016.
Horrible service for the price of its avg food.
Food was very greasy, for the price it was not worth it. When I showed it to the server he started arguing. I requested for manager who never came. Later I was told he is busy.
Service was just ok. Just put the food on the table did not offer to serve. Non veg and veg Appetizers were split in the same plate and my Veg colleague could not eat. It was just horrible.
Very comfortable, welcoming environment. Good food, good service. This is a regular stop for us when in NYC.
Food was very good small portions and pricey.
OVERPRICED AND OVERATED. No value whatsoever. Service mediocre, at best. Food is poor. Do people dine here for the old/outdated gold flatware service??? REALLY disappointed, as it was a very special occasion...my 86 year old mom visiting NYC and loves Chinese food. This was not even close to what we expected from this legendary restaurant. THUMBS DOWN.
This is a place for elevated Chinese. Not what you get at the walk-up & take-out place around the corner. This is linens and silk. No split-apart chopsticks allowed. The menu items are familiar but on an entirely different level. There are also exciting and exotic items to try. All orders are fresh and elegant. The staff is attentive and helpful. A great place to go for a date or fun evening with friends.
Top notch food in an elegant atmosphere, superb service, midtown location. Great for lunch or dinner with convenient parking.
Food excellent - great price fixe menu for lunch. Extremely nice employees & they don't rush you.
This place is excellent, I celebrated my wife's birthday here for dinner... she was impressed. The staff was Great, the food was delicious, and I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a great meal, and can appreciate being pampered while enjoying a great meal.
Food, service very good. Not your typical Chinese Restaurant. Seats resemble club chairs and waiters wear tuxedos
Very elegant setting, amazing service, and fantastic food. Highly recommended!
One of those few places left in NYC where you can sit VERY comfortably and eat without feeling as if you are being just FED food and rushed out and hearing next person's life story.
This place is amazing. NYC best kept secret. Nothing like it that we have seen. Food is delicious. Service is the best ever. They go over the top with corsages, hot finger towels, between course sorbet and on and on. Too good to be true. Hope it never closes. We love it!
Great ambience with art neuvue look, white table cloths, orchid corsage, etc. I ordered just 2 small plates. The vegetarian dumplings had a fresh and tasty filling - but the spinach dough wrapper was thick and, well, doughy. The service was good as they quickly replaced the cold sesame noodles as the fried chicken ingredient was watery. The duck roll had great flavors. Service was quick but not hurried.
What a wonderful treat! Chinese food that's non-greasy and very flavorful. Get the shrimp toast, the fried rice, or, anything else!
I've been to Mr. K's many times over the years and this last visit was disappointing. I base this however on 2 factors only. The Crispy Beef and the Lover's Dumplings did not taste fresh, and I've enjoyed these two appetizers numerous times over the years. I have a good basis to judge "fresh" vs not as fresh. Service was perfect as usual and the main courses were great. But I'm hung up on that my two favorite appetizers were not up to par.
I had a pretty good dining experience. I was in a group of four and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. The ambiance was not hectic but quite relaxing. I will recommend the restaurant.
always great food in a quiet relaxed setting. helpful staff who are happy to modify menu.
Best Chinese experience in US! Great prix fix for Chinese New Years! Very high quality and experience!
Really terrible service
Upscale elegant mid-town Cantonese restaurant. The food is much improved since our last visit, almost equal to the better places in Hong Kong. Decent wine list (unusual for Asian places). Service was professional and pleasant. Prices are high, but overall experience is comfortable and relaxing.
This is only my second time eating here, but it's by far some of best Chinese food I've ever had. Will come back again every time I'm in the city
This place is amazing and so is the food. So nice and so delicious. Prices are reasonable and portions great. Highly recommend it.
The venue offers very nice, high-end luxury atmosphere, and service was really good.
Aside from an unexplained 10-minute wait when we got to the not densely populated restaurant at 6PM, everything was excellent. Waiter's suggestion of Lamb Szechuan was superb, and dining companion was pleased with Lemon Chicken. Good sake.
I went to have lunch, but had to take most of my food to go,because the service was so very slow.I just hope they get this fixed ASAP.
Good food, lovely ambiance and presentation. Variety of options and a regular stop when visiting NY.
Mr K's is in a beautiful art deco building with an over soft and very pleasant ambiance. The staff was on top of everything from the moment we walked in the door. They were not intrusive, but always there when required. Something that I really appreciate was how quiet the restaurant is. I dislike sitting in a restaurant with friends and being unable to hear or carry on a coversation. As anticipated the food was excellent. Also the portions were of a reasonable size. The appetizers were just a couple of bites, not a small entree, and the entrees were of a size that could be eaten without feeling uncomfortable or needing a doggy bag. Over-all I would highly recommend Mr K's.
A little pricey, but food is generally good and service is excellent by Chinese restaurant standards.
This is a perfect place for business lunch with clients. The service is excellent. Never rush you to leave. Excellent wine selection.
Always reliable great food. Wonderful quiet atmosphere.
Oh dear - here's a 'grand' Chinese which feels like it's rather living on its laurels. Don't they know that diners want lighter, healthier Chinese dishes these days. Everything tasted of salt and not much else. The dumplings and noodles were both well below par, the shredded beef was burnt, inside and out and just tasted like road grit and there was a pork dish which seemed completely tasteless and didn't even resemble any Chinese cuisine. We ordered some healthy vegetables as a side and, guess what, they were covered in salt, soy sauce and MSG. Only one thing was in any way good - the sorbets we both had for dessert - mango and lemon. Presumably, though, the sorbets are bought in from elsewhere and don't travel through the chef's hands at all?? The servers try hard to be good, but they gather in pairs and stare at the diners all the way through dinner. Not pleasant guys... please learn to back off and give your guests some time and space.
Superior Food. Superior service. Superior ambiance. Hard to believe that I have never been to this restaurant before after living in NYC all my life.
We have been going to Mr. K's at least three times a year for the past eight years. The past two visits, November and now January 1, 2016 was not up to the quality we had been used to over the years.
Description said corsages for ladies. That didn't happen. Meal included tea, non alcoholic drinks. We were charged for tea. Asked for quiet table and did receive that. Nice presentation of food. Some dishes were not hot. Hot and sour soup was delicious. The rest of our meal was very disappointing. I would not return.
